Portals in portal room much less available, why?

For my main f2p trial. privious expansion all portals in stormwind portal tower were avialable, now hardly any, outside of chromie time.

For my new evoker profession mules, even less as for my main.

What changed? can something unlock more portals again?

You have to choice the right chromie time to open that portal

Need to set Chromie time to Dragonflight to make the portals active.
Some portals (like Pandaria, Shadowlands, etc.) you have to have the the starting campaign quest done (or at least have it in your quest log).

to farm BC in Outland in current time so the ooze trinket works, i had to set time to BC, set hearthstone to there, then go back to SW and set time to current time, then hearth to OL

had to do same thing with SL to get a +leech trinket, be in SL time, set HS there, do the basic intro up to first bastion FP. this makes Oribos FP useable to the other zones if you have learned those FPs. then go back to SW/Org and set time to current.

I did this, more portals became active, but still half of them arent, like the portal to cavern of times, which is super convinient, quite a step back from privious expansion

To get to BC Outlands and be able to use your trinket but not having to set your hearthstone to BC:
Talk to Honor Hold Mage in SW mage tower, get transported to Dark Portal
If it ports you to Blasted Lands instead of Hellfire Peninsula, you need to talk to Zidormi in Blasted Lands and set it to original version. Go back to SW and the Honor Hold Mage will now port you to Hellfire from now on (until you change Blasted Lands back to current version).

on a player yesterday, i went to chromie in SW set time to outlands, got the mage port quest in SW tower, switched time back to current and the quest stayed, able to get ported from SW tower to HFP

Yeah they changed it to lock the portals to Chromie time. An annoying feature which I hope they undo.
