Patch 5.0 and Hunters

Alright after reading as much as I can about the removal of Ranged slot (this would likely come in patch 5.0) I have to say I'm seriously worried for low level twink Hunters. We gain literally the majority of our stats via the Heirloom 2H (or another good 2H) with either 20 Haste or 25 Agility. As far as I have read Blizzard does NOT intend to allow the Enchant 2H Weapon to work on our Bows/Crossbows/Guns and therefore it's an incredible nerf to lower level Hunters who don't have access to high stat ranged weapons. Blizzard even said this will be an across the board (every class) slight nerf since they will not be buffing the other weapons to compensate for the loss.

Q: Since in MoP you guys plan on getting rid of relics for pallies, shamans, druids, and stat sticks for hunters are you planning on boosting stats in other areas to compensate? Or are the range slots for the other classes being removed as well?

A: The ranged slot is being removed for everyone in 5.0. Relics are gone. Ranged Weapons will be usable in the main hand by appropriate classes. Wands will become a type of main hand weapon. This effectively is a slight nerf to the stats of everyone equally, so doesn’t cause class balance concerns.

The above was taken from an excerpt from Garwulf's questioning of some future Hunter changes. If Blizz makes it so our ranged weapon can be enchanted with either a 1H or 2H enchant (possibly with a scope also) then it won't be a huge change, although at level 10 the BAR gives 4 Crit, 6 Stam + Str so it will still effect Hunters. What do you all think, how do you see low level Hunter twinking after the loss of dual 1H's or a big 2H with tons of stats enchanted on them?

Who cares, theyr hunters.

You people bitch and moan about how OP hunters are but aren't happy when they get a nerf (if it even ends up BEING a nerf, who knows at this point).

Hunters - now with only 250% the DPS of other classes. Down from 300%.

Been saying this forever, but speculation on change that will occur on an expansion without a release date.. is... yeah.

you might not care about hunter whn comparing them to other classes in their own bracket.

but that is not what i use my hunter for anyway.

i duel people 20-30 lvls higher, and i pve 20-70 lvls higher.

my toon is named Haste for a reason. losing 20 haste would be a big chunk out of my 103% haste.

No offense, but I believe this is the point of the nerf. Thus proving hunters are ..... wait for it.... wait for it.... clears throat.... fixes hair.... OP!!!!!

I play a hunter alt @85 and love every moment of soloing raids, but you see why lowbys should be nerfed to an extent.

This would also considerably effect higher level Hunters for PvE and PvP as the vast majority of our stats (from weapons) come from a huge 2H. People need to stop complaining that Hunters own in PvP and look at the bigger picture, this is an across the board nerf (quoted above from a Blizzard Dev) to ALL classes. All clothies lose the Wand and the stats from it, Rogues/Warriors lose ranged weapon and the stats from it, Druid/Pally/DK/Shammy lose the Relic slot and the stats from it. And yes Bank I agree this is all speculation as Blizz hasn't confirmed or denied whether they'd allow Ranged weapons to have the normal 2H weapon enchant on them, but they did hint at the fact that they wouldn't be buffing the 1H/2H's to make up for the loss of the ranged slot. Any Twink at nearly any level could be considered OP, not just Hunters.

hunters at 85 in PVE are great...PVP is another story

hi level hunters were complaining in wotlk about min max range for melee and shooting when it came to PVP. mages in part would just stay on them and with their armor bubbles, a hunters mongoose and raptor bite hit where worthless and pretty much absorbed. hunters have complained for awhile about this "target not in range" or "target to close" void.

in cata of course hunters lost one melee strike, and supposed the void was reduced....but there is still one there. and mages at high level will still blink back to a hunter and stand on their toes and range/blast them down, while a hunter has one worthless melee attack on a 6 sec CD. been many complaints on this, many of the threads have had blizz's gestapo tactics done on them and are either locked, deleted and can no longer be found

also in cata, there was a ton of fresh hunter rerolls and many of this players fell the god mode at low levels, but by the time they hit higher and endgame hunters are rather gimped.in 2's and 3's arenas, and even weak in RBGs causing a liability for the team.

so this 5.0 change on hunters, on point blank shooting should and could have been patch changed...hell even hotfixed long ago. if anything as a minimum implement it at 80+ level

Hunters ceased to be terribly viable in PvP with the launch of WotLK. Arguably level 70 and below Hunters are devastating in PvP. In PvE I can't imagine Hunters ever being bottom tier but the loss of the majority stat item (big 2H) compared to how little stats every other class will lose is something Blizz will have no choice but address. Take a look at any Wand/Relic/Ranged weapon and compare the stats to any comparable iLvL 2H and it's no contest. So every class keeps their primary weapon(s) and loses the minor stat weapon (ranged slot), Hunters keeps their primary weapon and lose their major stat weapon. Although I asked the question how everyone sees lower level Hunter twinks after this upcoming change, I can certainly see it hugely effecting end game Hunter DPS as well, more so than any other class. For those of you who don't raid, Hunters already aren't the top DPS (we're not the worst either), Mages have been #1 since the launch of WotLK. I'm not saying there aren't fantastic Hunters out there, nor Rogues or Warriors, etc, but Hunters cannot compare to Mages already (no I'm not saying nerf Mages), and soon we just may be trolling the bottom of the pile for raid DPS.

hunters at about 55-85 get owned real easy,

they are not great at 70, every caster including healer/casters destroy them

they shine if on the better healed/maged team at 70
