Optimal Guardian Druid Talents?

I just asked this question on the wownoob reddit and got mass downvoted and spammed with "just buy a subscription", so I'll try it here instead.

I'm f2p and recently created a night elf guardian druid, which I intend to max out. However, I can't find anything online on what the best 5 talents are to take in the guardian tree. As far as I can tell, the only two obvious talents to take are Maul (forced) and Survival Instincts (great defensive cd). However, from there, I'm not so sure what's optimal. Both Berserk: Ravage and Gory Fur seem good, but to pick them up I have to take the Mangle upgrade, which doesn't augment my defenses whatsoever, and that's all 5 points spent. Alternatively, I might want to drop Berserk: Ravage for Gore, which synergizes well with Gory Fur. And of course there's also the completely different approach of not maximizing Ironfur procs using the right side of the tree, but rather going for mid-combat healing on the left.

So, all in all, does anyone know what's best?

Greetings! You picked a great class and race. Don't mind reddit, they don't know what they are talking about.

Personally, I would go with

You could swap the Improved Survival Instincts with Mangle. For me, I'd rather just AoE down a mass of people then do additional damage to one. So the extra healing seems worth it. I don't main Guardian though, it's possible you just don't die with full purples, regardless of talents. I think this would be a good start though.

Some fun trinkets to consider:

Possibly unpopular opinion but, take the time to reroll for epic https://www.wowhead.com/item=29340/auchenai-monks-tunic?bonus=6757
If you are going to invest in countless hours for full epics, at least get a beast tank chest.

I mostly agree with @Hashbrowns build with one modification. Early on, I got a lot more mileage out of Innate Resolve than Imp Survival Instincts. Once I got some epics, fights got easier and i eventually switched out Innate Resolve for Mangle just to speed fights up. The content I’ve done this expansion has been mostly WoD dungeons. If you’re doing harder content, your mileage may vary.

Ty for the suggestions! Does this imply that Berserk is not optimal, and if so why isn't it? It seems like a critical cooldown that also has a defensive purpose in letting you build rage faster.

I'll also definitely go for Frostwolf Veteran's Keepsake, that item looks amazing for dungeons and looks easy to get, too.

Wow, does that item come with three sockets? But it shows up as blue... so is that quest repeatable, or would I need to restart the entire account if I wanted to try it over and over until I got the epic version?

U can complete those Tbc dungeon quests while lvling and once u hit lvl 20 > u go for it and hope for an "epic upgrade"... It's auchenai/shadow lab/durnholde...

Right, it's a one shot chance. You would have to start the character over. It's about a 10% chance but doable. You can put the SL gems in there for increased speed and passive healing. You also have two shots at double socket boots

Maybe, you have unlimited AoE from Swipe (it cost nothing). The bleeds are nice with Thrash but idk if it needs that much of a lower CD. Brambles are really good, its passive mitigation and damage in one talent.

As a 20, once you have enough healing from SL gems (I’d say 4 gems+ ) you are basically invincible to everything but an entire dungeon pack pull. That’s why I stopped running healing talents for dungeon runs.

For PVE: Paired with the SL trinkets, if you’re into that, im running as many dots as possible from main tree as cat, then switching back and forth from bear to keep 4x dots applied. The dots just increase proc chances Of the trinkets

For pvp (if it happened) I would run all the healing focused guardian talents for sure.

The tree looks nice. But there’s not really as many options as you think.
