Official Game of Thrones Thread - Books and Show

***For all users who can see the chat feed you know there's been a lot of GoT talk lately, but I wanted to include members who can't see that feature (at least it used to be restricted...no idea anymore) in on the fun too. Also wanted to make a separate thread so people can choose to look vs having possible spoilers be unavoidable.

THIS THREAD WILL INCLUDE SPOILERS. The books have been out for ages, and the 3rd season is all wrapped up so you have no excuse for anything to be "spoiled", either read or watch faster before coming if you're scared. Users can use the feature to hide spoilers, but I certainly wont make it mandatory.

So lets use this as a place where we can discuss the awesomeness of GoT, be it the books or show. Talk about things that annoy you, what you hope the books (and show) holds in the future, talk about favorite characters, etc, etc, etc. ***

For starters I'll mention again how I hate that Daario has no beard in the show. If you read the books you know he has a nice beard that he also dyes, like most Tyroshis. I also wish that the show would have/will get more into the lore of greenseeing, children of the forest, and all the cool mysticism that has been mostly passed over to this point (ex. those islands where green seers supposedly live still).
I also love the Reeds in the books, and so far theyve been lackluster on the show ever since mysteriously dropping in on Bran and Co. - which is crap btw, wish they were at winterfell. and i hope more of their backstory comes up, including their father and the events at the tower of joy and the crannogmen and all that good stuff.

definitely a lot to go through there, but hopefully other fans&fanatics will come and add to this thread with their thoughts, hopes, fan fictions, art, hell anything. and hopefully we get to read the last books soon before georgie decides to die!

I tried watching the series and found it lacked so much after I've read the books. For those that have read up to current events, what do you think happened to a certain character up at the wall near the end of ADwD?

Warg in to his wolf, after that who knows.

WTB giving the starks a break

other than sansa ( and maybe jon) i think they're going to be doing well for the time being. cant wait to see how arya progresses. rickon should be making a come back and bran is gonna be sweet

yeah jon nearly dies, ayra is with the hound, sansa is married to the imp which is in love with whore... bran is going north of the wall.

cant wait for season 4.

inb4 khaleesi wipes the 7 kingdoms

inb4 the Lannisters cease to exist. Kevan's son might live; I forget his name.

kevan's son is lancel, and he still lives

or are you talking about tyrek? i think he was someone else's son, maybe daven's

Lancel, I thought he might live since he joined the church's army or something of that nature.

They're not even close for that in the series.. Jamie just returned to King's Landing, now he needs to walk around there for some time, then the wedding and then he marches north, talks to Lancel, and then after that we find out about him being a religious person.. Also we need Cersei to allow the church to make their army.

it'll be interesting if they get into that since they havent really foreshadowed/showed the sparrows or anything. i also cant wait until the dorne group makes it to kings landing

Its called fire and ice.

Prepare for Dragons/ Red fire women fighting against Whitewalkers.

Well duhhh.. Prepare for John Snow to be married to Daenerys, or something, since i'm pretty sure they're half-siblings.. Him being the son of Eddard Starks sister and Rhaegar Targaryen! :D (ihope)
Also, it's quite obvious that the red woman is talking about either Daenarys or perhabs John Snow.. Either way, John Snow and Arya stark are my favorite characters.. Also Bran is a growing interest for me... Anyway, i will have to re-read the books, since my copies are in English, and a bit of a challenge to understand some of the passages :)

cant wait until season 4... however

I thought the s3 finale was a bit disapointing in that it didnt feel like a finale (compared with the battle of blackwater at the end of s2)

+ I didnt even realise it was the finale until it was said in the credits where I was like: '...oh... ok... but... ....'

favourite char: Tyrion

Favorite char: Arya

Things that annoy me? How about the fact that there isn't a single plotline in these books that doesn't "conclude" with unexpected violent deaths. I pick up this series thinking "Oh, awesome, 5 books that'll be fun to read." But no, it isn't done yet. Not even that, but absolutely nothing has been resolved, and in the last 2 books the storyline in some places was all but stagnant as the characters spend half of each of their sections recapping what we already know and introspecting.

I swear the author is going to "conclude" before this series does : /

irrc battle of blackwater was s2 e9, and the final ep was set up for s3. just as s1 e9 was ned being beheaded and e10 was set up for s2. so im not too upset with the finale of season 3 being a little lacking, but if you pay attention there was a ton of stuff being set up for s4, an absolute ton.

arya is my fav in the books by far. i can wait to read more about her training as a FM.
danny was super disappointing staying in meereen and fucking shit up...really hope she pulls her head outta her ass in the next books

Can't agree more. When rereading the books, I tend to skip most of her chapters. The only Dany part I really enjoyed was the initial battles for Yunkai and Meereen.. or whichever of the two battles had Strong Belwas unloading a can of whoopass on everyone.
