If you have bad luck, you can always get the epic silvermoon boe one from bloodmyst. And then Foreman's leggings. But if you get even a blue upgraded soothsayers, I'd say it's worth using.

Are those even worth anything without the glitch? I have a couple pair, but they don't seem vastly better than BoA.

What's funny and sad at the same time: the old Pre-Legion green version of this Zorbin's hat, has almost the same stats: -1 Agi/int, -2 stam. Same armor and vers.

is there a reason to believe https://www.wowhead.com/item=1927/deadmines-cleaver&bonus=4005#dropped-by wont upgrade to epic? could be a alternative for the slice blade, but the item is wierd, maybe it follows other rules.
sometimes when it drops u get the achievement window
and it drops from mobs which are only there after a certain quest
and its droprate is a lot higher than normal boes
so what u guys think? keep trying?

my theory is that items from phased/instanced zones will not upgrade to epic quality. there has been no proof of dungeon items (from rares and/or mob unique loot) upgrading to epic. you're in a new phase once you've completed the quest that allows you to kill the mobs that drop deadmines cleaver.
