Dont forget Nightmare tear is unique-equpped which means you can only have one slotted. So you cant run two or more so chose your slot wisely

So as far as grinding out the https://www.wowhead.com/item=30536/greaves-of-the-martyr?bonus=6710 a mediocre prot pally can solo the last encounter fairly easily, so my hatred for the whole process has lessened. If you (or someone you know) get the quest socket gear and simple 2/2 str & stam gems on your main account, you can solo/duo the last boss in legacy mode and be certain to get both drops for level 20s and then trade if needed.
It's really only a thing if you run yourself with 2 accounts, doing it in an all 20 group works just as well or they could even just drop right away for you getting run by a higher level... but even doing this it was 25 runs for one of my toons.
I did, however, get lucky and got two others much quicker (last toon was 3 runs) doing it this way. YMMV as always.
For durnholde, you can just run both 20 toons to the last boss right away and park there, then log out of the pally and onto the runner. I used a 50 druid cuz it's fastest I had, do all the RP crap right up until you talk to taretha to summon the epoch encounter, then log out and back in on the pally.
You can solo with the pally or help with the second toon to speed it up (but you'll have to off heal his DoT) then loot and trade two level 20 drops, hopefully what you were hoping to get... no worries about your drop falling to the high level.
It works for all classes in legacy loot, of course, just make sure if it's plate you want that the prot pally has at least the same or better (i.e. ilvl 28 boe for ease) because it will not let you trade an upgrade... so that would suck. Having the 20 twink pally on your main account is also a good thing for doing solo/duo personal loot runs for you unsubbed accounts too, and you can pretty much solo gear it for most of the slots, which is nice.

To follow up regarding the Nightmare Tear... it appears to change from a "+4 All Stats" when crafted on one of my alts into a "+3 All Stats" after being mailed over to my lvl 20 *sadface*. So now I really can't justify using one of those in place for something else with the +4 Armor & +6 Stamina being so good.

Well, with nightmare tear you're getting a 3str gem and 1/2 a talasite... so it's not a value lost. 1 1/2 gems, technically.
edit- and just an FYI, "all stats" is just main & stam - it used to give all the main stats when that mattered, but now you dont benefit from a different "main" stat than your own. Honestly i dont even know if they show on your gear anymore.

I would still use the nightmare tear, just think of it as being better than a strength gem. I know it kind of got lost in my first response but I do use a nightmare tear on my war and recommend it.

Thank you for the follow-up Gobolord! I went ahead and replaced one of my +2 gems with this +3 All Stats, and indeed my stam and strength went up a little. I also currently have 300 Alchemy for the Alchemist's Stone, and upped my Engineering enough for the parachute cloak as well as the Therman Grenade belt tinker. I probably should work on cooking next for some nice food buffs...
