New Heirloom system (Blue Info)

All in all we need

1500 Helm x7
1750 Legs x7
1200 Cloak x 4

27550 gold :S

The first zone in Wod gives 600-700 gold including rewards, so I guess I will have to find another way to earn that much in merely 10 days.

Solo old raids maybe.

Rules?......

THIS..... IS..... SPART.. er F2P!!!

But seriously, for organized things, like special arena realms or whatever, I assume original rules still stand.

That's what I was thinking, who is to clarify for something like this?

The "rules" is all the gear you can possibly get without tricking a gm. (So no helm or leg boa or mailed enchants etc) The only real place people would bitch at you for not following the norm is prem vs prem games that never happen but when they do are the most sacred and competitive pvp the world over.

No one really cares tho so dont force standards on yourself if you dont feel like it

The only "pure" F2Ps are on Galliwix and Quel'thelas... NO ONE on TI is pure, linked or not.

YES now i dont have to work my ass off this week for dmf :D :D :D :D :D :D

I would hold on there chief.. No one knows when 6.1 will come. Also do we know whether when this tab launches it will cost 100-1000 gold like reagent tab and void storage or not? Hopefully it will be with the pets, mounts and toys and be free.

This is a good point, and I certainly hope they don't pull something like that. On the way off chance that any WoW dev reads this, I think it would be important to point out that trials with BoAs earn their heirlooms by the exact same effort as anyone else, so I think it would be pretty crappy to exclude us from using what we earned.

On the uncomfortable topic of F2P "purity", it's a complete misnomer. There is no such distinction as "pure" or "not pure". There are different people who have earned different levels of extraneous goodies through one means or another. Calling one "pure" and one "impure" is divisive and smacks of elitism. It would be equivalent to a bunch of girls looking at the girls with boyfriends and calling them "sluts". Maybe that's a human tragedy that's too subtle for a lot of you youngsters (no offense intended) but it just has a very sour-grapes elitist feel to it. I really feel like this whole idea of "purity" needs to go away and stop dividing the community. And it's also off-topic for the thread, really, so if anyone wants to debate this, I suggest starting another thread.

Yeah, I think I will have to calculate what an average run yields now. I think Wrath raids give 400-500 gold total and we have 2 lockouts available.

this will be the end for pure F2Ps.....
Not really. The only piece worth mentioning is the Boa helm, other slots are easily filled and absolutely competitive with scaling in place. And since you are Ally you have the skillpatch to compensate anyway! And let's not forget that they will add strongboxes as reward from BG's, which might contain usuable items as well. 6.1 is going to be good no matter what, IF they fix the damn q's.

I doubt the system will work like void storage. If they don't change much of it it will work like the toy box:

The "issue" is that we will likely have to activate every single heirloom piece, asssuming they include the feature for starter editions. And I don't see a reason why they shouldn't, it would mean extra work to prevent starters to get somthing that they already can get their hands on without much problems (apart from legs, cloak & helm, but I doubt they tinker with the system and take the risk of possible malfunctions due to a few hundred f2p's). This isn't comparable to the pet battle system which is basically a complete game within the game, wether people think it sucks or not (I think it does :p).

As to when 6.1 hits, no idea but if it's a raid patch then I doubt it will hit before March/April. If it on only adds minor things like the new Blood Elf model, Boa tab and the changes to Battleground rewards then I could picture a late January release.

Great post Hirudi.

Also, the skillpatch is worse than the helm boas iirc. So it's not balanced!

Hirudi? Is that twink language? :D

Well, yeah the skillpatch is worse, but it's somewhat comparable for leather chars. At the very least it won't cause the end for f2p's without a connected account :)

I agree it will 'probably' be like the toy box and go with the mounts & pets. But we don't know that. I also agree you'll probably have to put the looms in manually. But until that patch hits PTR, we just don't know.

what about linked accounts p2p enchants on heirlooms, will the enchants stick to the boas when we get them with our linked f2ps ?

I highly doubt it. If they are automatically added you'll just be pulling out a new item. If they have to be manually added, I think it will be like void storage and strip enchants and transmogs.

An easy way to solve this problem would be to remove all enchants from BoAs and make them unenchantable.

There, that should start some conversation.
