Grandfathered
Hi Everyone! My names Eze and I'm new here as a user. I was a guest 2 years ago and finally created this account for my return.

I played f2p quite heavily and based most of my free time on it  Took a year off to do something with my life :p but now
I'm rolling a frost mage on Aerie peak. I made a thread to introduce myself and ask some questions .

Couple Bg's in as a shaman... got globaled mostly but actually had fun with the chat and devising strats to win. Frost would be the perfect asset and fits my playstyle. Before f2p as a mage,I went hardcore in 2s and 3s,pushing glad couple years in a row :) also did rbgs, but enough of me and now questions :D

Explain why please:
What would be better Belf or Goblin?

Any significant changes this year from last?

I said Aerie peak but I havent made the character yet. Any realms before I create him ?

Can you PM your skype so we can chat ? super friendly :)

Thanks In advance

Hey! Aerie Peak is happy to have you and I'm always looking for people to play with.
As for race a lot go either undead or belf due to running without a trinket using blink for stuns will for fears etc or belf to just blink in for the aoe silence.
For changes ummm hunters hurt, rogues hurt so do 24s so mage life is gonna be rough.
Hope this helped!

Welcome.

Hey dude, happy to have you here! F2p needs more mages!
What would be better Belf or Goblin?
A lot of people (myself included) prefer Belf due to torrent providing some extra cc which can actually be a game-changer even though it might not seem like much.
Undead is also an option as it pretty much allows you a 2nd trinket slot similar to humans, although the touch racial is kind of iffy. (It can break frost novas, happened to me a few times it really sucks.)

Don't be discouraged by all the hunters and stuff though man, if you really like the class you can find ways to get around them and still enjoy the game as usual. :)

Hi welcome, first off thanks for rolling a caster.

Here's some numbers for WoD stats which might help you decide on race. http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/dataz-base-stats-those-who-care-wod-60011/

Undead fear break is nice, it's going to 3 min in WoD though. But there aren't a whole lot of Fear's in this bracket. It basically lets you run trinket free since you blink the HoJ and WoTF everything else.

BE or Goblin are tied for the most int in WoD. And it's quite a bit now :-/ Do you value a melee range silence or an extra escape? Silence is probably best since you can blink to get in range.

Feel free to bookmark my character below, it's BiS Mage gear right now and I'll be running numbers/updating when WoD hits. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the replies and the warm welcomes. I went with Goblin, the aoe silence helps in alot of situations but i'm running support/ offensive cc and probably will be running flags alot puggin.

can't wotf everything
So what a hunter concussive? If a hunter is on you it's game over anyways lol. I wish it was balanced and that stuff mattered. But the reality is 4 hunts are on you and you have a global to do something.

BiS is subjective cuz playstyle
Sure, but it's a great place to start. If he's going to FC yea AGM. If you want the most dps/per health trade-off I'd strongly suggest something like below.

If you pet freeze early enough you can get the hunter and his pet. Blink behind, you have like 1.5 seconds of uninterrupted casting and 2 crits before you die lol. Plus you get to watch the jaja keyboard turn in freeze, which never gets old lol

Sadly max range is the same as concussive, he gonna hunt you. And his pet charging faster then mount speed and "Bite hits you for 550 (critical)" are real things :(

I HIGHLY recommend you go belf. Blood elf racials are getting buffed and undead racials are getting nerfed in WoD. Not to mention psychic scream as well as psyfiend are getting removed with the coming expansion, resulting in Will of the Forsaken being less useful.

Good choice on goblin. Belf is great as well, I'd say more suited to arena play than bgs. I recommend blazing speed for the current game, mobility is a huge advantage especially when you don't have reliable healers. All around I think you'll be very pleased with goblin. And as people said UD racial does break frost nova. With that said we are losing shatter unless that nerf has been changed recently so a broken nova won't be soooo bad. PS troll/orc are strong in premades too.

Welcome to AP, we're happy to have you!

I love you....im Pooh, youll be seeing me as mostly Pandaren on the Horde, ill be looking forward to playing with you, as soon as i get home, complete my homework and stuff....

Idk how great of a choice it was to roll on AP 2 weeks before the new xpac, which will result in never getting the gear u would want in that xpac

Belf is bis next xpac since everything heals insanely, that silence trumps the jump.

I advice into getting a really good crit set and playing ice floes fire mage when wod hits, nothing else has quick enough damage, and arcane has no frostfire bolt, frost is basically like " u cant touch me for as long as I can kite, but u might not die either" the damage is not great...

Sadly, belf models wont come out until later into wod so that's a downside :(

Hope this helped, and welcome to TI, officially xD

Im not really going for the damage since my fellow hunts/rogues can do that.
When i played, I noticed no peels and cc are a big part of why pugs are usually losses.

For hunts I'll move pet to where I can freeze and run.Or pom poly and follow up with a poly when they trink, and run.
