I think hip-hop is where it's been for a few decades now. It's all about promoting narcissism or promoting prison-mentality. The stuff with a positive message or productive message is usually undeground and not as popular. Getting kids to think that being a drug dealer/pimp/gangster is cool so that they can start building up that rap-sheet at a young age that way, when they reach adult age they couldn't get their life back on track if they wanted to. They wind up dead, incarcerated, or homeless with their brain fried from drug use. The others wind up dedicating their lives to being a consumer, obsessed with materialism, vanity and social status. All of these things are great for the people making money off of it (it's not the artists by the way)
