EU+US My Favorite Rapper

Hip-hop was invented by people that couldn't afford proper instruments. Writing rhymes is incredibly easy (unless your name is bestworld) but most modern hip-hop is funded by private prisons in order to create more prisoners. Like Hopsin said "duck hip-hop".
What you just say? You sayin my mama has braids?

I watched a few of his "I'll-mind" videos and the one about Jesus was super weak imo. The one where he says "fuck hip hop" in is pretty much spot-on as far as how hip-hop fans act on a stereotypical level. Never did live in the suburbs tho. Never did wear Osiris shoes. The labels and meme quotes are tired and weak af.

Hip hops roots is what makes it what it is, you are saying that it was invented by poor people with a need for a creative outlet is a bad thing? also rhyming is 10% of rapping, thats like saying if you can play smoke on the water you can play darkside of the moon. And the fact you quoted hopsin makes this whole statement laughable at best.

ps. thats why you don't listen to most modern rap, there is some amazing music out there just have to find it.

I'm saying that playing an instrument takes more skill than what eminem did on g.o.a.t. or anything immortal technique did. Wasn't making fun of poor people or anything...the first 10-12 years of my life were spent living in poverty. I understand that creating a message and getting it across while also being limited to what you can say next because every syllable counts when you only have 8 bars or less and most things need to rhyme. Rhyming is not 10% lol. If you disagree, what's the other 90%? I don't see how quoting Hopsin is laughable. I've literally only heard two of his songs, but dude showed more skill than the security guard Rick Ross or all of the auto-tune artists of today. Oh yeah, it's only for edgy suburban white kids.....lol that statement was the equivalent of some back-woods redneck saying something is only for hippies.

never said its only for white kids lol never even mentioned race. but honestly the guys awful all he does is try to make somthing overly shocking/offensive or somthing whiny nice guys finish last kinda shit. its a gimmick aimed at edgy kids and nothing more

Kinda picking bits of your posts but a good portion of that 90% that really separates real hip hop from the rest is annunciation. Artists like Hopsin, Logic, Tech N9ne, etc really tend to stand out because they take shit that doesn't really rhyme, change how you annunciate the words, and all of a sudden it rhymes.

Like-sounding words and anunciation in order to rhyme is still just rhyming. I'm a sucker for clever analogies and metaphors tho.

If you're lumping annunciation in with rhyming then 80% of rappers don't rap?
Annunciation is used the way you described it, which you said the end result was "change how you annunciate (sic) the words, and all of a sudden it rhymes) You lumped annunciation in with rhyming and I agree that it's all in an attempt to rhyme.

Listening to gangsta rap in my youth probably contributed a great deal to my obscene levels of ambition

And also this reminds me of the NWA movie...what else can be a truer form of art than putting your passion into the struggles and excesses of your personal reality?

Art can be anything and is subjective. A famous painter once put his signature on a toilet and it sold for an obscene amount. I like rap, but I still think it is an inferior musical genre in comparison to others.
