My Concerns with the Twink Cup

You underestimate what money can do to people. Also you can't just give it to someone else, at least in MI, it would have to be donated or put into a trust which I suspect wouldn't happen. If people under the age of 18/still in high school are going to participate I would write up some sort of waiver saying that they give up all rights to the prize money and wish to donate or have them sign one that states they give up their amateur status. I don't think too many people have a problem with giving up their status but some do. I wouldn't have been able to complete in the TC if it was around at the time.

And the ddos, their is evidence of people asking for IPs and sending requests to it only to find dead ends with VPNs. Don't always believe everyone you talked to, even friends lie from time to time.

Like I said, I deal with the amateur stuff almost on a daily bases within MI.

I think you are a bit paranoid here. Lets say each person on the winning team got $1,000 each (I know its above the current amount), this amount would be paid over 2-3 payments into a paypal account. That would not raise any flags whatsoever with banking or taxes. It the grand scheme of things, it is a relatively small amount for it to be declared, and people (even kids under 18) receive money like that all the time. (Think small-cash jobs ex. DJ'ing, babysitting, shoveling snow, etc.)

If the government or whoever you think would be interested took action every time a person received $1,000 for no apparent reason, they would be way over their heads. If they would, every single petty university drug dealer would be in trouble, which is literally impossible for the government to keep track of. You have no idea how many people are depositing various amounts of cash (sub $10,000) with no specific reason.

In regards to winning a paid tournament, it is a video game. If said person was that serious in sports and won, all they would have to do is keep their mouth shut and then nobody would ever know.

I honestly don't know how your train of thought led you to your point but you are very misguided. If each person wound up with $100,000 (hypothetical), then I could see some issues arising, but not with $1,000.

This post is informative and interesting but outmost hypocritical.
