My big new to 11s question thread

    • So, with mostly TW gear, I can solo non-TW dungeons and having a blast. Speaking of, I am hesitant to farm up more than one set of gear, with that in mind:

    1) Can I do a majority STR build if I intend to queue as DPS for TW dungeons? Then I can just avoid mechanics and all that. Even if I die the group wont WTFBBQ fall apart or anything.

    2) If non-STR is still advised, can an all-secondary gem set provide adequate killing speed. Plan on gemming mostly haste and vers with some crit sprinkled in on those 3 socket pieces, if STR is not an option.

    3) I know there is a big community of achievement hunters on 20s, is there such a thing for pure F2P 10/11? I wouldn't mind trying my hand at it, would be a little extra challenge without steady flight.

    4) Are BfA rares available to 10/11? Would be groovy to get a socketed cloak/bracer/trinket etc.

    5) Not a question, but dang no war mode for 11s /sadface

    6) If I think of more I will post it on this thread so I don't flood the place.
     
    I think queuing as dps kills the draw of TW even more than the recent changes made to main stat scaling in TW
     
    Worrying about TWing gearing only really important if you're soloing.

    In general more main-stat is going to hurt you more than help you. If you have so much main stat that enemy health doubles, then essentially you're cutting your power (and survivability) in half.

    If the intent is just doing TW runs as a DPS then you can pretty much gear however you want; though ironically you might have faster run times and survivability going naked in some slots than going full bore main-stating.
     
    You can remain viable too solo both TW and normal dungs at almost the same pace by simply re-gemming your tbc gear.

    I use grenade belt + ramstein trinket too dish out 1-2k dmg (depending if crit or not) on bosses, both have 1min cds, so you can more or less use em in every boss fight.

    Ok , so how viable would it be to gem/chant only secondaries and rely on str from gear only? I picked gnome for the lower base strength

    Well, in short you will feel slightly weaker than before TW re-scaling, but you will still outdps most 80s by quite alot.
    Key is to still have 28% haste, but the added effect from 20%+ vers makes your dmg output still extremly viable for soloing dungeons. I personally havnt noticed any major decrease in either dmg nor healing and my warrior feels almost as strong as before.

    Also, if you havnt completed the legion intro quest on your twink. You can utilize the 1hr buffs from SW docks. +30% armor, holy dmg on hit and the +5vers food buff. The armor and holy dmg ones even persists thru death!

    'Edit: And if you really wanna push it, do some quick follower dungeon spam for the sacks with different buff pots that drop from elites. I use these before im about too level boost people.'

    guess its a good thing I did pick gnome then, 1% haste bonus!
     
    So without lifesteal and not wanting str from crusader, is elemental force looking like the chant im going with?

    Also underbog, last boss, does that levitate thing and resets, anyway to effectively solo him? not a huge deal as i dont need anything from him, just annoyed by him more than anything

    Im assuming you are playing as f2p? Then why not just have 2 weapon setups? Elemental force for TW and Crusader for normal?
     
    OH! I wanted too add, you can farm freehold for the chance at getting greens with socket proc. Also by starting lorewalking, you can solo farm the rares in tanaan jungle for the chance at getting ilvl 44 blues, which also can proc sockets!

    The way I usually handle this boss on my lvl 10-11 warriors is by NOT charging the boss at the beginning of the fight! That way, your charge is ready the first time you get levitated up in the air, and you will be able to charge right back down to the boss if you respond quickly. If you are lucky, your charge will be ready when the next levitate happens, but it's a little bit RNG.

    If you want to skip the boss entirely, the way to avoid being teleported back to the boss when it resets is to run past the boss all the way to the ledge that leads down to the entrance, but DON'T jump down before the boss resets! That way, you won't be teleported back to the boss when it resets. You usually just have to wait for a few seconds at the edge of the entrance-ledge before the boss has reset properly without teleporting you back.

    Thats my take on it anyway ;)
     
    1) yes, why not? I que sometimes as a dd, its still fine as long as you're in party. Its soloing that become a problem with a main stat builds

    2) I'd say non-main-stat builds advised primarily if you're boosting. you'd be "stronger" in TW because bosses will have less HP, not because you start hitting harder. xD
    In any other solo activities you would be slower.

    3) there's alot of stuff easier for 11s than for 20s, for example Pandaria Zandalars got only 6.5k hp at 11, while at 20 they got 30k+ and start hitting like a truck. Same with Draenor rares and open world bosses in general. Buuuuut, some locations that auto-scaled for 20s will require LW to scale them back, including several classic zones.

    4) yep, and with LW you can literally kill every single one, including Voldun and Stormsong valley (you still can kill them with no LW but they will drop un-scaled items), but 30 ring with a socket isn't better than 60 ring from a TW boss (its 2 stamina and ~7 secondaries diff if memory serves me correctly), not sure about bracers and trinkets tbh.

    Now I am going to get REAL nit picky. I am not enchanting or gemming anything str, because I want to see how low I can get it and still be able to kill stuff. So for bracer enchants, i am looking at either Superior Versatility from vanilla, or +1 AP from WotLK, what say you?
