Monday & Sunday Warsong Gulch

We're still on for Sunday.

If you guys want a different day than Thursday, by all means go for it.

Edit:

Based off of Jetlife's thread we're swapping out Thursday for Monday.

See you Mondays and Sundays

Not sure if we have full awareness for Monday, I will still be queuing regardless.

I will most likely be queuing on Sunday. Looking forward to the games :)

P.S. I absolutly love your sig Agonist. That moment in the show was a great one

Horde had their run of FC dominance early on Mocha. Including the FC speed potting when Alli had such a poor composition (due to some very undergeared people queing) we didn't stand a chance of taking him down if he stood still. Then later on with the monk. Its been a fairly even night. Games going one way, and then the next going the other. All in all was a fun night. Good games.

I hear you 110% but the only thing was:

The pally (forgot the name) was potting to end the 3 cap / containment sessions asap.

I understand that Ally did not have a formal FC early on where as the Horde did. But here's the difference: Horde had completely stomped Ally into their own GY. There was no competition over mid. It was completely dominated by the Horde. Did it really come into play whether or not we had a pally FC or someone else running flags? In my opinion: No it didn't. Sure a rogue could have prolonged games against a mage FC. But the outcome of the games were quite inevitable. See what I'm saying?

When it comes to Flag Carrying in MOP, we see 3 scenarios when a FC has just obtained the flag:
1) His team is containing the other faction
2) His team is being contained
3) There is competition over mid

The only scenario you'll see a Pally FC or a Warrior FC cross mid for the most part would be if his team had pushed the other team and was containing them in GY (1). In scenario 2 and 3, it is highly unlikely that a Pally or a Warrior will cross mid with minimal or no support.

However, a Monk FC or a Druid FC typically have an easier time crossing mid in any scenario given their insane mobility over all other classes.

There are two priorities that FCs are faced with (in order):
1) Crossing mid
2) Securing the flag

With this in mind, in my opinion, a warrior and a pally are very poor flag carriers in pugs. Especially compared to druids (especially worgen) and Monk FCs.

Reason being, Druids and Monks have such insane mobility that nothing can touch them. They cross mid often long before the opposing faction even knows that their flag has already left their base.

A pally or a warrior have such a lack of mobility that there is no discussion, they aren't nearly as viable as Druid FCs or Monk FCs because in order to secure the flag (priority #2 ) they must first cross mid which is a rare occurrence based on what we've seen in games lately with horde being without a skilled and highly mobile FC.

It's like the times we see Festina FC on Horde and Shift FC on Ally. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Shift pass our entire mid team and go in for a cap long before we can do anything about it.

This is all pretty much common sense and I know you understand what I'm bringing up.

My point was that it would be nice if Horde had a FC with the mobility that a Druid with a racial sprint or a Monk does and it seems that most times we don't have one capable of competing with Shift, Marb, Saxx etc.

It feels as though every game it's Ally with a crazy fast FC against Horde with a Prot Pally FC or no FC.

Without someone as capable as Marb, Saxx, or Shift when it comes to running flags it makes for insanely 1 sided games in my opinion.

I'm nothing special when it comes to running flags but even I'll be making something to try to help even this out.

I do agree that it's rare that we see a game with 2 mobile FCs. You're right. It's either one side or the other. Unfortunately the monk that we had for a few games was not nearly as effective given our composition as Saxx was given his team composition.

I had fun tonight. It would be nice to see more mobile FCs on Horde though.

***Casino is exempt from all Warrior stereotypes. He is the only thing faster / sneakier than a Druid or a Monk with gm commands.

gave you a like because i read my name... alli needs more

Are you talking in terms of speed? I find it quite an interesting counter towards conc spamming hunters don't you think?
Absolutely! :D

I had an interesting night.

Keep in mind I had never played a monk before today.

Things started off going extremely successfully for me in terms of solo queuing as a FC. Pretty much no support needed for the most part. Although, there were a few elbows thrown in one game (Ally FC Wild Charging up GY etc) so I thought it would be interesting to put the WW Monk's mobility to the test with a speed pot to steal the win in under 1 minute. Felt a little cheap but as WW a speed pot is nearly wasted.

For the rest of the evening It felt nice to be able to be able to basically ignore ele shams and hunters all night.... I know several players were focusing on me after a few quick caps and I know they got a few laughs out of the 3v1s against me when they started playing D. I could tell they were annoyed by my mobility and they did a decent job of getting back at me by sticking multiple rogues on me.

As you know, I normally try to gimp myself within reason so it was very interesting to be on the other side of things. (I try to stay off of my EF rogue as much as possible)

Unfortunately I'm the only WW FC on Horde side if I'm correct and I'm wondering if we'll see a few more WW monk FCs pop up.

I know at one point Ally had an amazing come back from a 2-0 game during a picnic. After an initial domination Horde were completely lost thinking that they had it in the bag and Ally moved back to D. Unfortunately I could not get any support to help get the flag out of their base and Marlb (if I'm correct) ran 2 in a row in. It was a great story!

Overall I enjoyed being an effective flag carrier. Some people get laughs out of one shotting people but I found it amusing to be able to capture a flag in under 30 seconds and completely teleport across mid for a few caps long before anyone could even enter the Horde base.

I don't see myself playing this monk too often. It's far too cheap. The only class at 19 I had ever enjoyed playing was rogue. If I weren't considerate for the balancing of roles I would have never have ever played another class at 19 besides rogue, Unfortunately I practically shelved my rogues in Cata because Horde were so lacking on the healers / FC side of things. It's been years of playing healers / FCs for no reason other than the fact that Horde lacks them and not many people are willing to step up to the plate.

I will admit that playing WW Monk today reminded me of the enjoyment I had in playing Rogue up until Cata. It would be nice to be able to play rogue more often though and not feel like I need to be on a healer or a FC or even a ranged DPS.

Maybe you should try BM monk. Balanced and fun to grip people from the lines. Even if there is a fc horde side you can still get in amongst the action as well as being able to grip their fc. I feel like BM monk is one of the most strategic classes for 19s. I think you would have fun with it, as well as benefiting your team.
