They hit Classic WotLK and start over anew.
Although there's a ton of next expansion leaks of "the dragon isles" already...
So I wouldn't count at LEAST one more expansion to go through before these things take effect.

The deal will most likely conclude before the next expansion release so its a question if we are going to see the new payment model being rolled out before the expansion does and what else will it bring with it in terms of f2p

I’m thinking this is the beginning of the end for WoW. It will eventually end up on ESO for free with no further patches or upgrades.
Then they will create an NFT version of WoW 2.0 and we’ll all be using real money buying and selling on the AH……..

I think I read somewhere that the acquisition is planned to conclude some time in 2023. I can't say how this will affect f2p, but I really do think there will be a stronger focus on cash shop items, making the payment model centered around microtransactions.
 
Well, I don't think any changes are going to be as large as one might imagine. At least not in the near future.

I certainly remember enormous amounts of rumblings with the Activision merger, and yeah...there were changes. Some good, some bad, and we all got a Mr. Chilly.

I think largely they plan to clear up the PR nightmare that is going on, enjoy immense profits from the acquisition, and throw the games on gamepass. That alone is going to be a dramatic cash cow.


Now, if anything, twinking at F2P might actually be the most impacted part of the game. Why? Because I can absolutely see them formulating a new F2P model for gamepass and focusing on attracting new users.

I didn’t realise they’ve already tried it. I only have my finger on the WoW pulse :PepeLaughW:
Still, with block chain, crypto’s, NFT’s and the like, stuff that don’t really exist but people pay money for……
I’m sure they will find a way to capitalise on it and make probably even more coin from people selling and buying on the AH than any subscription could make them.
They could even create Blizzsoftcoin or Actasofterium which allows u to buy and sell in WoW…..
I’m too old to fully understand all this stuff, but the fact that people can pay an insane amount of $’s for a pixelated picture online, how about using it to buy a sword, a mount etc.
Actavision - Blizzard already have a big player base - there’s big potential for NFT style games……

I’d finally have a reason to tell my wife I’m quitting work to play WoW for a living :p

I play wow level 20 twinks only because I can play the whole thing on a Xbox controller on my big TV on my coach using consoleport and steam link. It's been my favorite gaming experience of my life.

It's also super beginner friendly.

Warcraft 3 - Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne - WoW (Last Expension Wrath of the Lich King) - Warcraft 4 (new story) - WoW2.0 - Warcraft 4 expansion - WoW 2 expansion (Story continues with Warcraft 4's expansion)

I always believe this production line was the most stable way to keep this story alive and healthy but they've chosen the easy way for cash. They milked it over and over. Game was like about to explode. Activision saw this and escaped. Microsoft's team knew this too. They'll try to bring fresh things to the table and we'll see...

Something I would love to see added to the game (and I am sure this will be controversial) is to hard cap stats under max level and then reopen all bg queues together again for xp on and xp off.

i.e. at 19 a hard cap of 20% on secondarys and like 160 hard cap on primary stats.

It would effectively end twinking but allow you to pvp at any bracket again with queues that pop and prevent levelers from getting stomped.

That would actually make me want to resub again or buy a gamepass or w/e MS is gonna do.
 
As long as I can pay money instead of farm anything. A+.

The WoW token has kept many people in the twinking game, regardless of misleading information and people whining about it's detrimental effects.

Same here, I worked form home at the time so I just spent all day farming on d3 and selling my mempos/skorns or the occasional decent trifecta* ring/neck. I made bank on d3 real money auction house.

Could be also dh, since there is already addon that makes your UI a console-game-lookalike when playing dh, tho why would anyone play that class in this bracket :YEP:
