Raw meat from certain animals that is properly butchered and sourced can be okay.

It's quite common in a lot of cuisines.

It's lazy cost cutting butchering, cheap sources, and cross contamination that causes the majority of issues.

Going to the supermarket and buying some manager's special ground beef and eating it raw, on the other hand, is a terrible idea.
 
Oh, I know all about Light's meat.
