Mage, Lock or Priest

So I'm looking to make a twink at 24 however due to the fact I have full cloth heirlooms it makes sense for me to make either a mage, warlock or priest.
My preference would be either mage or warlock as priests are so OP it's boring right now and I've heard fairly negative things about mage damage so I'm curious what peoples opinions are? I don't mind playing something, even if it is a little under powered so long as it isn't worthless.
What are peoples thoughts on each of the classes in terms of damage, survival, best specs, etc.
Thanks.

If I was twinking at 24, I would go Mage. Fire got a huge quality of life buff.

I've seen Locks be successful as well.

In truth you could be an asset to your team no matter what you pick.

It's how you play... not always what you play.

I heard mages hit very low.
I don't know how true this is - it was just one persons opinion.
I notice you have an f2p mage. What's the damage like there?

I haven't played the Mage or this bracket in a bit (also I'm sure I'm speaking gibberish at the moment, damn you night shift), so I hope some else weighs in...

The damage isn't *low* but it also isn't on the same level as say Rogue/Feral burst (speaking at 20). Mage isn't really a solo class. You make a superb support class and if you play with that in mind I don't imagine you will experience difficulties with the damage.

If you pretend you are Superman and rambo on everything, you may find your survivability and the innate advantages of being at the top end of the bracket aren't enough and... maybe then the damage will be *low*.

Regardless, you will be able to burst people down. You will be able to solo players. You will be able to do oodles...

It's like I said, it's how you play, not necessarily what you play.

Okay, thanks for the info ^_^
I remember in leveling BGs on my mage I was able to 2shot people from level 10 until around late 20s (28ish).
fireball followed by an arcane barrage (so they both hit at the same time) could insta-kill someone if both critted. Obviously I am aware the damage to health ratio has shifted a lot so I don't expect this from any class (Although my lvl 60ish rogue can 1 shot people with eviscerate xD) but I just wanted to check I wouldn't be tickling people all game and being a slow whore which, although can be helpful, isn't very fun.

mage (imo) is the most fun 24 you can play. and frost ftw

What (in your opinion) makes mage so fun?
Burst?
CC?
Survivability?
Something else? :)

the cc and the burst. as a 24 fmage you can be game breaking on D and deadly on O, at 24 you've got fingers of frost and ice lance, and your shatters can hit 700+

Pretty nice, I may be convinced to roll mage then :D

I would go destro lock, they do insane damage and have pretty nice survivability.
Nice burst and fears for whenever your need them, they have a slow with conflag. If you ever get low use Dark regeneration>lifeblood>healthstone or any other life gain effect you want.

Mage does some decent damage. You can kill most 20's (resto druids being the only except, nerf inc,) and certain 24s. I havn't played fire so I cant speak for that but I found frost damage lacking, arcane has WAY better burst. Mana isn't really a problem so you can cast arcane blast all day with 5 stacks of arcane charge up and that hits for pretty nice. Then throw an arcane barage with 5 stacks and it'll crit easy 800. Ive seen some close to 1000, and my mage is undergeared. Arcane missles is equally potent, ticking for close to 100. Frost has great CC, it gets a slow, and an additional nova, but the damage just isn't there from what i've seen.
