EU+US lvl 89 twink wearing 101 legion items

Hello guys,

I have stumbled upon this thread in the Eu general forums.
A lvl 89 restoration druid is wearing a full set of 101 items (of course it is the known armory bug stating it is req 101).

But still, this would be the lowest level twink I have seen wearing the legion BoE's.

I am wondering how lvl 89's could farm for these BoE's, it appears his guild is full of 89's.

What do you think he uses it for? PVP?
 
I'm curious if those items are actually giving any stats/ilvl when in-game.

I got the Dark Shaman set on my lvl 1 (now 50) shaman before they added the lvl 90 requirement. When I logged in after the patch I still had the items equipped but they aren't contributing to my average ilvl: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/scarshield-legion/Aelomental/advanced

Edit: Calculated average ilvl wrong as the tooltips are different to the character sheet.

According to the comments in this reddit thread it's an exploit to do with the equipment manager and/or character restoration but I couldn't find anymore details than that.

Edit: Nvm, a friend contacted 2 of those twinks and apparently the world drop BoE's scale down to 89 if the character looting them is 89? I knew this was the case for 98 but I didn't realise it went lower, can anyone confirm? Because my next question would be, can they go even lower?

Even if they do drop surely a full set would take a long time, how did they get full sets? o.o
 
It seems that these people were trying to stay under the radar for a reason... The first time we ever hear of this, and it's half a year through the expansion by someone from the outside.

870?? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but I don't believe these items can warforge or titanforge unless it's a 101 requirement dropped on a 110.

In this scenario, I feel like 89 would be the best for ilvl advantage in instanced pvp, but 91 would have the best advantage for world pvp, because of wod crafted gear and mop mythic gear.
 
I don't think they tried to stay under the radar all that much. Like someone else said, if you take a look at the guild activity feed, you will notice ALL the Boe's we're obtained less than 2 days ago.
Which is impossible, unless it shows that you "obtained" an item when someone mails it to you.. I am not sure.

But ya, all of this is really recent from the looks of it. And interesting.

How could you even farm anything in Legion being 89.
 
I talked the scrulliexx and what he does is he has multiple accounts multi boxing and he farms for the boes on his lvl 89s but he just sits there with his priest because he cant loot anything but boes if they do drop takes time but not a exploit wow put it in the game like that.

This could mean lower then 89 lets hope and people get farming haha

no, 89 is the lowest. you cant loot mobs below 89. (88 = you cant see the enemies level = no loot, 89 you see the level = loot)
