Lets Talk WPvP Events

Has Been
We've already seen some good ideas mentioned in my thread.

To prevent cluttering the event's thread I ask that you discuss other WPvP events and ideas in this thread. This will allow for both topics to get their own deserved attention :)

Happy posting!

There's a place in Arathi Highlands that has a farm with alliance friendly mobs and a boss and a farm with horde friendly mobs and a boss. Could fight for each other's farm.

F2p alterac valley, I like it =)

I think zul'gurub in stv is an impressive zone to have a huge fight in, lots of buildings and stuff to set up bases or fight in

That's a great idea. The area is just dangerous enough for the environment to be a decent factor as well. It's got a clear objective; whoever kills the other team's boss first wins a point. Definitely flesh out that idea!

I'll be posting my big idea later after I've done some research on it.

I vote my own idea  Ignore any parts about 24s. The main idea is the 2nd paragraph

I like the idea but if this is supposed to be 20 THROUGH 24 I think you should try to add some other element into it other then purely killing each other mindlessly. I think it should definitely be in a lv 25-30+ zone so we would have to fight pve mobs if they daze or attack us and give us an extra factor to deal with.

Was thinking maybe like a capture the flag kind of thing? Ex. One/two/however many UNFLAGGED people in a certain box like area then the FLAGGED person comes in to try and rescue them. Like a horde druid stealthing through w/e map you choose and getting to the "base" then once there he would need to get the unflagged friend across. If the druid gets caught and killed by an ally person then one the ally person /point at the person the druid tried saving the person would then have to mount up and return to the base. The savee couldn't leave the druids side or run off themrself and can't help in any combat. If a horde comes by and /point at the savee BEFORE the ally gets the chance to them the savee would then be "linke" to that horde and would follow him. Of course you can't /point at an escaped savee until the saver is dead.

This is just a newer/better version of what me and 5 friends of mine did back in bc in ashenvale. We played naked capture the flag while flagged and couldnt mount while a lv 70 person of the opposite faction tried to find us and kill us then send us back to the start. First to get from one side to the other won..

This is just something I thought of :) I like the idea of this world event but tbh if it's just random fighting in barrens when it'll be 1 20 per 10 24s I as well as alot of other trials won't be interested.. Add some kind of objective or some kind of twist other then just fighting then gy farming :) Gl with plannin

These ideas all sound fun but...

Once you introduce rules that aren't governed by an in-game mechanic you then have to control them yourself. This makes things complicated. Everyone has to understand the rules and not break/respect them and someone has to be there to make sure people don't break them.

If the event has too many rules or things people have to read or worry about possibly messing up, they're less likely to be apart of it. And figuring out everything slows the event down until it loses all momentum, see just about any of the other events (Been a few arena events as of recently). They burn bright at first then they go to die in a pit of rules, class/spec/comp bans and disappointment. To the point were mentioning such an event has become kind of a joke.

So, to do this, we would need enough rules but not too many. Preferably a group of people working together to get everything together, deciding on their rules and letting people accept them or decline to participate, "This is happening like this, take it or leave it". And we would need a referee and at that point, I think a lot of the fun goes out the window for me. "Okay everyone, stop killing each other. STOP, so-and-so broke a rule, we need a call on this :O".

tl;dr: We need a nice balance of fun, regulation, and competition :)

Earl once made a proposal to make an event around "Take the tower and kill the King". Point was to have 2 teams: 1 D & 1 O. Both had to take a tower and eventually kill the King which was inside. Could be interesting as well.

iirc that was somewhere on Fray Island. Speaking of which, Fray Island off the coast of barrens is also a good spot. I really LOVE the Zul'Gurub idea and it would be awesome if we could get a giant 30vs30 or even higher group battle to go on there.

edit: does the area outside of deadwind pass surrounding kara have any mobs? or deadwind pass at all? that could be a pretty good place. although there aren't really any bases or anything either. I do know that there's a giant cave underneath kara. i had to go there at midnight to catch a pokemonz

edit2: deadwind pass has way too many 50+ mobs and the area outside kara has 68+ mobs

edit3: what about right outside the dark portal. no mobs. i just dont know if the npcs kill anyone who fights. they don't seem like they would though.

edit4lmao: Right outside the instance Sunken Temple in swamp of sorrows is also very nice. Surrounded by water. There's a summoning stone. I actually like this one the best so far. Here's an SS.

Kara does have mobs nearby, I think they're spaced out but 20s aggro from like a mile away.

I was checking out Gilneas as someone had mentioned it. I was in the area as I had been checking out Southshore. I figured I would take a look around Gilneas cause I knew it had some cool stuff. Found this:

Would be pretty cool for elemental shamans, hunters, and frost mages assuming some kind of "race to the top" situation

Has like five bridges leading up to the top, sadly, you can't go inside the building. Also Gilneas may be effected by phasing. Assuming players have quested here on horde or alliance as worgs, they may become phased.

I was thinking if you could find a chest spawn in Alterac and which ever team looted the chest would win. Easy to figure out who wins.

Kibs, we have been waiting MONTHS for a reason really start using ZG, and it's finally come! Spot on! This is the perfect place. There are no mobs and very low risk of 90s (from either faction) flying in and ruining our fun.

If the f2ps decide to start taking PvP into our own hands, and organize special types of wPvP events, ZG is the perfect place. There are so many temples, and each could be the place where different types of PvP games happen. You've got your King of The Mountain temple, your 10v10 "arena" temple, etc. Any gametype you can imagine can find a happy home there!

3 cheers for Zul'Gurub!!!

What's the name of that castle in redridge?

That castle would be nice to use but the only thing I can think of is that many high levs fly around redridge. But it would be pretty funny if a random alliance leveler saw a huge fight and joined in lol

Other castles that come to mind are the one in durotar with low lev mobs and the one on fenris isle in silverpine

If anyone can figure out how to get gilneas phasing to work that would be a great location

I have not been there in a while but where the old world dragon used to be in Duskwood(Twilight Grove) is deserted. Everyone could meet there. There is a hill there as well to defend. I am moe than happy to help out on my P2Ps.

/cheers and good games

Hey all,

I was just doing some scouting and testing in Zul'Gurub, and discovered some unfortunate news that I have to share.

I tested out dying in ZG to see where the graveyard would be that it sends you to. When I died in there, I respawned at the graveyard all the way over at Rebel Camp.

Let me re-emphasize that: I didn't show up as a ghost at Rebel Camp--which would be bad enough because it's so far away--I RESPAWNED, alive, at Rebel Camp.

This effectively means that the area inside Zul'Gurub can't be used for World PVP.

:( , good to know.

There is a pretty open 'castle' in Arathi highlands, with plenty of good spots for pvp. (multiple buildings/ towers/ obstacles)

SS of the place:

The one downfall is that there are some level 27 mobs in it (not to daunting but still present) and there will be some random higher level (level 25-30) traversing it.
