You should just use it, for the simple fact that it makes you more situation aware. Its not hard to learn either. Also, there are a few videos in this thread, that can help you out . But again, if you feel comfortable, watch these videos, and you will understand why any other gameplay style is obsolete.

This acts as primarily a mouseover cleanse but if you don't have a mouseover target then it turns into the macro that you're asking for. It's a huge help.
