Nidana
Legend
To be honest, I registered here on TI right after this story happened.
It all began when I started leveling my first ally char - Daridum (rogue @Spinebreaker)
I got it to level 20 in less than 3 hours and had insane luck in instances. Got the random cloak of the bandit from my first run to RFC, got 2x Wicked Daggers from my first and second run to the Stockades and so on. Got the minor agi recipe aswell. I even saw ring of precision drop but unfortunately lost it to a random p2p hunter. In other words, my gearing was going really smooth and it was going to be my luckiest character ever. But then...
I was running through SFK in hope to get the random dungeon belt (got [of the Wild] 3 times in a row!!! though I had huge pain to get [of the Bandit])
We killed the first boss and entered the yard. I decided to open the chest (I really rarely open them because I spent much time farming them on my priest and never saw them containing anything decent)
There was the [Recipe: Swiftness Potion] inside.
I crossed my fingers and, of course, pressed "Need".
That's what I actually saw:
You see me pressing "need", you see 2 other guys pressing "greed", and you see one of those guys recieving this recipe even before the lootroll ended.
I'm not that kinda guy who would ever run RFC for 100+ times to get this recipe on purpose and I knew I would never get it other then this time.
Being extremely offended by such a cruel game mechanics, I started complaining in the f2ptwink channel. The guys there told me to contact a GM because you can never know if it's solvable.
I've been playing WoW since 2005 and NEVER recieved actual help from any gamemaster. They all always repeated "blah-blah, we feel for you but can't really do anything, sorry brah"
So I created a ticket describing all the situation and attached the screenshot.
Had to wait about 40 minutes until they contacted me.
The GM checked the logs, took a look at my screenshot and said "Something wrong has happened, it's definitely a bug and I'll be reporting it to the developers. You won't have the item, let's hope you'll have better luck in future".
I became really disappointed. There's a principle in a world's civil law that says that you can't claim for the same civil law object more than twice. But this time I was determined to get the recipe in any possible way, so I copypasted the information from the first ticket to an exactly same one.
The second GM told me that he won't look at my screenshot because they're not allowed to open links. He checked out the logs and told me that according to them I actually pressed "PASS"! I explained him that I could NEVER press "pass" because it was the item I would probably never see again. But he said that the mage actually pressed "NEED" and won it with 54 roll. I begged him to look at the screenshot. Then he became silent for like 10 minutes and I slowly started losing hope. When he came back, he told me that he had never seen anything similar before and surely something wrong has happened and he put the recipe in my mailbox. I told him I couldn't use the mailbox as I was F2P and asked him to give it to me personally. He became silent again (just doublechecking if trial restrictions could be the reason for that all). But about 5 minutes later I got the recipe in my inventory!
The morality of this story: always ask different GMs to look into any unclear situation and hopefully you'll get what you want.
