Creating Your Twink

What Server do I need to be on?
You can queue from any server and you will still get into the exact same games as everyone else. There are a lot of guilds and twinkers on the [US] server Bleeding Hollow who are looking to help newer players get started, however, you do not need to be on Bleeding Hollow to play in PUG games. We have an active twink guild archive that can be found here. In addition, if you are looking to relocate to Bleeding Hollow, bring any twink items you can with you as you will be able to make an insane amount of gold on them over on BH. If you are [EU] a similar situation can be found with the server Draenor.

What Class should I play?
It is important that you play a class and a role that you enjoy playing. However, some classes and specs are much more valuable to have on your team than others. We suggest you play a class that you enjoy and one that is viable in the current meta. This link has a ranking of which classes and specs are valuable and which ones are not as powerful.

What Faction should I play?
This is entirely up to you. Faction balances are constantly changing so I suggest you play either both factions, or if you're particularly interested in one more than the other, stay true to those colors!

How do I find new friends and keep in touch with the community?
By being an active community member and being friendly you will encounter many other twinkers who have similar passions and different experiences as you. We have a [US+EU] Twink Networking Thread where you can find people to add on battle tag and more information to stay connected. This thread can be found by clicking here.

Do I need to be Geared before participating in PvP?
We strongly suggest that before you queue up for PUGs you are already geard up. We know it's exciting to join a new bracket, however unless you are geared up and you have a good idea of the current meta, you will get absolutely wrecked. This isn't fun for you as you spend the entire game in your graveyard, and your team could have benefited from having a fully geared player instead of you.

How do I find what Gear I need?

The absolute best resource for finding out how to gear / spec your character is by viewing the guides section as there can sometimes be very in depth guides for the very class / spec that you wish to play. If you do not find a guide for you, use the 19s Armory List as it is always updated with examples of the best gear.

How do I Fund the gear and enchants that I need? Conq has brought a good way to fund new twinks to my attention. He suggests that players make a Death Knight on Bleeding Hollow and in just running Shadow Fang Keep and auctioning off greens and blues one could easily self-fund as much of their twink as possible. In addition, Conq and his friends have created a [US] 19s recruitment, funding, and community sustaining project where they may be able to help you complete your goals of having a geared twink. More information on that can be found here.

Is Peerless Stats really the best stats chest enchant?
Yes! Some other stats chest enchants have bugged tooltips! Don't let those fool you, use Peerless Stats!

Gameplay

First, (please excuse the language in the video) I ask that everyone please watch the entire video that can be found below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Web6yelnqU

What is the best way to move my character for PvP?
You should be using your mouse with the right click button held down most of the time and you should be moving your character with only with Strafe Left, Strafe Right, and Forward. You should NEVER use the S key to walk backwards or backpedal and you should never turn your character with Turn Left or Turn Right. A decent video that touches on this subject can be found below:
How do I move backwards?
In PvP you NEVER use move backwards because when you walk backwards by holding S or the Down Arrow Key you move backwards at a SLOW rate. This is called "S Keying" and is looked down upon because skilled PvPers know to never S Key and to use a method called "Backstraffing". This is a method of moving backwards where you will move backwards at full run speed and with added combat bonuses! There is an old but still very good video explaining how to Backstrafe which can be found below:
Should I be keybinding?
Yes. Every serious PvPer utilizes keybinding and macros in order to aid them in combat. If you have not yet, I strongly recommend you view the video above by Gladiator Thyraz. If you click your abilities and keyboard turn, you will not get far in PvP. There are many anti-keyboard turning / ability clicking videos on YouTube. There is a funny video that provides the base information on the subject that can be found below:
What is "Fakecasting" and do I need to do it?
"Fakecasting" is a combat skill that every skilled or competitive player needs to be aware of. Fakecasting, also dubbed "Juking" is when a person tricks an interrupt class into wasting their interrupt and putting it on cooldown so the caster can cast freely without worrying about being interrupted by the interrupt class. Everyone needs to be aware of fakecasting! There is an instructional video that can be found below:
How do people return flags so quickly?
Almost every 19 twinker has mastered a technique known as Scroll Clicking. It's a way to use a mouse with a scroll wheel to return and pick up flags much faster than most people who do not use this method. If you want to click flags to the fastest of your ability, you must click here for the guide on Scroll Clicking! A decent video that shows a scenario of me scroll clicking can be found below:

Queuing Warsong Gulch PUGs

How and when do I find out about when to queue?

The [US] Bracket Queue Thread can be found here with all of the information you need to queue [US] games. The [EU] Bracket Queue Thread can be found here.

Do I need to have EXP On or EXP Off?
You need to have your EXP turned OFF in order to participate in PUGs and to get a queue pop. To do this, you must visit Behsten in Stormwind for Alliance players or Slahtz in Orgrimmar for Horde players with 10g.

How long are wait times?
For [US] games typically are back to back and sometimes there can be as many as 3 games going at once. Since games are back to back and last up to 15 minutes, you shouldn't have to wait any longer than 15 minutes before you get a pop! [EU] has similar queue times, however games sometimes do not happen all day and every day.

Why didn't my queue pop?
Sometimes if you are playing a healing class you can miss a game from time to time because of Blizzard's ingame matchmaking feature which attempts to balance team compositions. You shouldn't have to wait out more than just 1 game before you do get a pop! If you still are not getting pops, make sure you are queued for Warsong Gulch SPECIFIC instead of RANDAM BATTLEGROUNDS! Queuing in groups can also lengthen your queue times if for example you're in a group of 4 people and there's only 3 slots left in a WSG game. Solo Queuing will get you faster queue pops.

Hey! Great, informative post! I have a couple questions for the bracket in general.

- What are the general viewpoints concerning consumables? Last time that I twinked 19s if you weren't popping a black label with every life you weren't doing it right! Some of the more common consumables being 6/6 food, 8 agi/str/int & health elixirs, sharpening/weightstones and wizard oil, the ever-present heavy runecloth bandages and the more commonly frowned upon Swiftness pots, but up to and including niche things and new additions as well! Most(if not all, not 100% on the bandaids) of these consumables are restricted in wargames, but how are they viewed in PuGs nowadays?

- The last time I twinked was long before the GYs were lowered and many spots now have invisible walls, or the terrain has been fixed rendering old jumps useless. Concerning a more intermediate/advanced aspect of WSG, what jumps are still useful/commonly used in the bracket? Please note that I'm not referring to a walljump or terrain exploit you would use when you're solo holding the flag and uncontested in order to reach a difficult position, but instead the ones more commonly used by FCs or cut-off stragglers to thwart an unpracticed pursuer(i.e. stump jumps, ally/horde GY jumps, going ToT from ground floor on either side). If it's deemed inadvisable to put techniques or even the types of jumps left untouched by the map changes on display, I'd settle for a confirmation of whether or not jumps still play an active role in the bracket, and how they are viewed.

Hey mate! Welcome back to the bracket and community! You bring up some great questions. As is usually the case within a community, a lot of the issues you brought up have proponents on both sides of the argument - some more polarizing than others. The general viewpoint on consumables is that you are entitled to use them as you please within PUGs, however in a premade setting there should be rules outlawing them. As for specifics, you would have to consult the premade host's rules (I believe runecloth bandages/wizard oil might be acceptable in some).

If you would like to read through some opinions on the terrain exploiting argument, you can peruse this recent thread:
http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f12/should-something-like-allowed-twink-cup-pugs-66705/

For opinions on speed pot usage, have a look through this one:
http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f12/someone-confirmed-speed-potter-66631/

Once again, in general you will not be frowned upon for using consumables. While there may be a handful of people who oppose their usage, the vast majority of the community won't knock you for it.

As for the jumps - I'm glad you distinguished terrain exploits out of the question - as they face great opposition within the community. Legal jumps, to a lesser degree, are being debated for acceptance into the Twink Cup at this very moment. From what I've gathered most people think that great FCs learn these jumps to gain an advantage for their team and distinguish themselves as a skilled FC for this ability. If they take the time to perfect these skills, why ban their self-made competitive advantage in a professional setting? They argue it is the offensive players' task to keep up with an FC who has mastered their jumps. Anyway, I suggest you read into the issue yourself and formulate an opinion on your own.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

What's a good hunter pet to bring other than bear? Looks like dogs get a fake king's. I got a scorpion, but apparently it doesn't get its mortal strike ability. Or am I missing something?

I don't think anyone is really going to get upset over buff items, but speedpotting is definitely a hot-topic. Jumps are seen as requiring skill by some, and a crutch by others. Kind of depends on the jump.

I think this has to do with most newcomers queueing random BG rather than WsG specific because both sides always have more than enough for 2 games to go on.

Hmm ok, Myself I was queueing WSG specifically, but the last few evenings I haven't bothered since I am not really a fan of waiting half an hour for a pop :(

Trying to get
