  • I'm going to be away from a computer with WoW on it today, so I figured I'd throw up something for some fun discussion. If things were ideal for game balance, how many dps do you think it should take to kill a healer?

    For me, at the beginning of cata, too many. Once Battle Fatigue calmed things down a bit, things felt pretty good. Now.... well we all know how it is. I'd say 2 to 3 dps ideally, which for some classes we have.

    Imo it should generally take 2 but 1 good one who connects kicks and so on should be able to drop a healer. IE: You shouldn't be able to toss a rejuv on yourself, go cat form and drop someone because they can't out-DPS it. At the same token, you shouldn't be able to put a rogue on a healer and 100% control them due to sheer damage because that means healers can't keep other people up in addition to him/herself.

    It should take a long time for 1 when both the dps and healer play well, and then the time/ease should be proportionally lower depending on how many extra dps are on the healer.

    OT , In my opinion , to kill a healer are needed like 2-3 people , because a healers job must be keeping a TEAM ALIVE! Healer MUST BE ABLE TO SURVIVE 1 dps, AND heal himself/ the others!

    Yeah wish they would just nerf healer damage. I don't understand why the four different healers mechanic wasn't good.

    1 good dps should be able to kill one bad/avg healer. 1 good dps vs 1 good healer should come down to cds. It should NOT consistently take 2-3 dps to kill one person, unless of course ya'll wanna go back to the 15 healers a game and have nothing die for 20 minutes cuz that was totally fun.

    I think I might dial back my 2-3 dps back to either 1 superstar with cooldowns or more consistently 2. Both extremes of too few dps or too many have negatives. If most dps can 1v1 a healer and take them down, then what's the point of having healers? In a group fight all somebody would have to do would be to challenge the healer and everything falls apart. On the other hand, if it takes too many dps to take down a healer, we would have the miserable situation of infinite fights, as Lil said.

    I would agree that most healers right now have that balance. Resto shams can be pretty weak atm, but boo hoo for us, so be it. I think it would be nice to trim back damage on certain healing and dps classes in general at this point. Fights seem to be much more fun when beating someone is based on active abilities and not just on blowing right through them, pretty much what Upswag was saying.

    Anyway, this wasn't to be a whining thread at all. Just thought it would be an interesting discussion to see what ideas people had on the matter.

    I nearly had "1 hunter pet" as a fifth option. :)

    Edit: In general, balance wouldn't be such a runaway train if blizzard were to limit how many of a certain class or role we had in a BG (weren't they going to do that with healers? I can't remember). Downside there would be longer queue times. I wonder how much extra time people would be willing to wait for queues to pop if blizzard implemented this? Could be an idea for another useless poll I suppose...

    2 dps if they are using their cc intelligently. 3 dps if they just spam damage abilities. Reasoning: because wow pvp has been balanced around 3vs3 arenas in which each team preferably has 1 healer and 2 dps. At least that's what GC said a long time ago when he was explaining why 2v2 stopped being important.
