US I may quit playing my paladin

This invasion has me on my knees. I can't even count the hours and chests at this point. It joys me to know junk-warforges have been fixed, and anyone who has at least put in effort will be rewarded. But for me, it's not enough.

My paladin, Ecopal, has been around since mid MoP. Now that may not seem like a while, but it dates back before that. You see, this paladin was a concept. An idea that resonates through all tinks alike. The strive for "Best in Slot". In late Cata, when I was getting the hang of f2p tinking, I made a prot paladin called Flores. I'd like to think I was somewhat recognizable in my bracket. I queued many times, and ran many flags. And I spent countless hours and nights trying to have the best gear available within my restrictions. I wanted to prove, along with many other f2p, that we could stand our ground against those who abused their privileges and gearing capability. I think it's obvious I am talking of the "p2p" (24s). It was a righteous crusade. A time in wow that played a pivotal factor in my tinking career. But at one point, I had realized my faults in gearing choices. So I gave up my beloved f2p, and forged a new character. This new toon was to imitate f2p. I had subscribed, and have stayed subscribed ever since. But I knew I did not want to sacrifice the same amount of time as I did with restrictions. So I used p2p privileges to accelerate my gearing process, and this time it was inflawed. Band of the skull crusher? Check! Precious Ribbon? Check! Then Wod came along, and to my surprise, I had made all the right choices.

Now we all know that things change. The f2p era was crumbling, and players had to adapt. Some stayed, but many had sacrificed their pride to continue having a good time in the bracket. Many say the veteran system fractured the f2p community. And I agree. But it was a path I took, so I embraced it. I still managed to stray from the temptation of creating a 29 (changed from 24). I saw vets as a middle ground. A mixture of p2p gear, and f2p ability availability (yikes, what a mouthful). I didn't want to have spells that a f2p didn't have access to, because a part of me had stayed in that community, and it still is.

My favored spec had later shifted from Protection (or frisbee-tosser as I would call it) to Retribution. This was a forced change, but I didn't mind it so much. And my gear was without a doubt, perfect. A few things here and there to pick up along the way, but it was smooth sailing. That is until the pre patch hit. It seemed fairly simple at first. Grab a set of invasion gear, and replace what you can later with BG container blues. I was optimistic, that is until the hotfix came in the middle of this month. I'm now panicking, and have laid down every waking hour to gear my characters. I am now focusing all of my effort and time on this one paladin.

You see, I tell myself I'm over-reacting, and it isn't that big of a deal if my weapon is 5ilvls below my goal. But a part of me cries out in desperation as the clock's second-hand ticks. This is because my paladin still embodies that ideal. And if I have spent all this time, just to have my efforts tarnished by a stroke of bad luck and waning time, the dream will have died. Sure, there is always a chance we may have access to better gear, but that does not deter my willingness to put in the work and prepare.

If the date is due, and I have not obtained "bis", my paladin will likely lie dormant until a new opportunity arises... If it ever arises...

I type this on behalf of all the stress many of you may have during these final hours, and wish you all good luck.

Get BIS or die Grinding.... :(. Just keep up the Invasion grind until Legion launch man. Be positive! Bit of luck and your beloved Paladin will be BIS :).

some of yall take this game too seriously

Well, anyone will take something somewhat seriously when having spent so much time of their life on it. Wether it be a car, a painting, or a game.

I Agree, It's a hobby to many of us. Why not be serious about something you enjoy. People can be as serious or not as they want, One of the many joys of the game.

Judging by your signature your somewhat serious about it? Being "LVL 10 DISC PRIEST WORLDS FIRST UNDEAD 10 PRIEST ON ZUL'JIN US REVERED WITH LAUGHING SKULL ORCS..." and all. Lol

a little OCD?
I know the feeling, I'm a bit OCD myself. It'll be like, every time you log on, you open your character screen and see that 1 or 2 sub-standard items, knowing you can do nothing about it.........

There are some things money can buy, for everything else, there's Mastercard......... except for WOW as Mastercard won't be able to do jack squat for you

I do hear your frustrations and wish you the best of luck. May RNG shine on you in this last week so you can hold onto your Pali.

Good luck :)

ps - I'm still hoping RNG shines on my Hunatrd!

Well let me ask you if you have that 1 toon on which u started as f2p and ever since then you been grinding all BiS slot gears from all over places, just because that 1 toon is somewhat special to you

I know how OP feels, i started to give up too after duplicates every single chest but looking at my paladin with his gears knowing that there are better than this i go like " i created you to be BiS, and you ducking will"

Dont give up, still 5 days to do, keep up and show us why you created that paladin. Be ducking BiS! We were brothers in arms against 24's!

We may have choosen the p2p life later on the line, but deep down, 20's are for life
Let it be f2p or Vet

Wish you good luck @Roboartist and hope rng god shine upon you

P.s- i run whole invasion with http://www.wowhead.com/item=138385/lucky-shirt on, try it ;)

I don't like this rng on top of rng in a time restricted event either. It's quickly become a chore and rather than excitement over getting an upgrade, there's just relief.

Also it doesn't help that I seem to be getting disproportionately fewer useful warforgeds from Large Legion Chests forcing me to sit through the snoozefest that is stage 3 and 4 (thanks to the ever-popular tag groups).

I kid you not, a Blizzard Developer actually stated in regards to WF/TF/BG Gearing system that they actually believe Players LOVE the RNG of it, like "Wow, what am I going to get today?" kind of thing. Asmongold has a video that quotes what that idiot said. I swear nobody at Blizz actually plays WoW.

rip to all the fallen paladin's

yeaaaaah not getting full TF set when other people put way less time into it and got lucky with full set feels bad man

I'm hearing people say TF is already grandfathered (GMs so take that with some salt)

I really hope it isn't, still missing mace/gloves

It's not, I'm still spamming Invasions Triple Boxing as I write this and am still getting +10's (lowbies) and got a +20 on my 99 DH about 5 hours ago.

I afk when I can. But I'm not sleeping much. It's a lot more efficient to do the invasions than afk them. You get more chests that way.
