EU+US Hunters pet for MM

trumplord

Grandfathered
is choosing a pet at this lvl even important or is just for looks? Do pets get any special abilitys at this lvl?
one more question is the master engineer goggles BiS or is the
Phalanx Headguard of the Quickblade???

MM get 10% damage bonus without pet, you will do overall more DPS as MM without pet.

Stack crit and vers as well and you will be very deadly. I always play MM like I would play a mage, fight near cover and keep the distance. Feign death when other range try and hit you with long cast shot like other MMs with aimed shot. No matter what other enchants you use on other gear, Incendiary Ammunition is a must have enchant for your weapon.

I think Gnomish X ray + Flintlocke is better than incendiary

Depends on playstyle and your role in the BG.

  • Incendiary - solid burst procs, no weapon swapping to think about, no buffs to time. I'd use this 90% of the time in solo que
  • Flintlocke + Incendiary - wait for flintlock to proc, then swap to incendiary for high damage during the buff and while flintlock is on its 40s ICD. This is really good in comp to put out a lot of damage to a focus target
  • Flintlocke + Gnomish - personally not a huge fan of this option. they both have 40s ICDs. An option for competitive when you really value the buffs. Switch weapons after each proc to wait out the ICD. It was the old go-to pre-incendiary, I think I would prefer flintlocke+incendiary nowadays
  • Gnomish + Incendiary - gnomish is better for BM, so this is the BM equivalent option to flintlock+incendiary for comp

They were the best, now incendiary burns everything. It's normal damage for me, with lone wolf at 10%, Alchemist's flask and Minor Mana Oil (+ food) is 500 and can crit upto 1k. It procs many and often too. As a pure DPS class that sort of consistent damage can't be dismissed and I don't have legion gear.

Nice summary.

Back to OP, MM shouldn't have pet in BGs, can we all agree :D

Lone wolf is great for damage. But it's easy enough to summon dismiss your pet that you'd be silly not to use them when you need that mortal strike or slow or FC stam.

If I remember correctly the moment you get the buff and swap to another weapon the buff goes away.

I'd agree for exceptional circumstances, but I think those circumstances are so exceptional that the number of times you would call and dimiss your pet and then wait for lone wolf to get back to 10% would be fewer than 3 times in any given BG. An MM should never start a BG with its pet, and like I said the number of times you would want to sacrifice 10% damage should be very few as it's a self inflicted handicap, there's no pet buff better for MM than lone wolf in the majority of BG situations.

Choosing mortal wounds is pointless as it is not good enough.

exhibit a :
healer vs u - you die to dot + ele force.

exhibit b :
healer vs u + 1 dps - healer dies.

exhibit c :
2 healers vs u + 1 dps or healer - you not gonna take them down.

The amount of moments when mortal wounds will make any difference is minimal.

wait for flintlock to proc, then swap to incendiary for high damage during the buff

Incendiary ammunition is not effected by additional agility or attack power.
it procs or it procs as crit. It can proc back to back.
For 2-4 second window and low critter dmg from flint min maxing that one is just unnecessary waste of your attention.

An MM should never start a BG with its pet

i bet you all spoons don't even have tracking on.
Rank 1 support class btw.
Pro hunters to learn from right there man!
