How ethical is this in the twink community?

if you are getting farmed by a lvl 39 ROGUE holding the flag in patch 4.1 you need to GET BETTER AT GAME.

that is all

It is a "problem" that mainly arises from getting no games in the 39 bracket. Personnally, I've met two other dedicated 39ers while lvling my hunter.

I can imagine the hunger for playing a game is so high people resort to playing in xp-on bracket with their geared to the teeth twink.

The only problem I have with people doing this, is that they just reinforce the negative stereotype of twink that roams amongst the general WoW population.

the entire community considers this practice to be unethical and those who generally do it are not even considered twinks by thier peers, nor do they represent a community at large. That said most of us have popped into an xp on game once or twice on twinks that have completely lost their active brackets just to grab an achievement or 2 or etc. while i would never avoid a cap in this case, i would afk, and if holding the flag upon a return would quickly pass it and afk etc.

Your either a troll, or flat out stupid and didn't read the thread.

I read the main post and my actions fit the descriptions of his list-items. Problems?

Blizzard ruined my twink by making it unplayable (no xp-disabled BGs and getting exp counters the very idea of being twink). So in my opinion this is a case of don't blame the player, blame the game.

Granted it's a douche move which I don't condone and this is very much opposed as to how I usually behave, (PS: I don't care if you believe this or not.) but needs must when the devil womits into your kettle.

Bye.

Oh so your one of THOSE kind of players.

/goodbye

I would like to go on about how 'oh you sit on your high horse being the best and nicest person on the planet ya-da-ya-da-yaaaaaaaaa' .. but I'm well aware of how kind, generous and helpful you are on this forum so it's not possible. Sorry!

But you have to realize I'm not a scammer or hacker, I don't map-hack myway across the WSG. All I do is beat players with inferior gear than me. Welcome to PvP? I don't force people to be poorly equipped and fight me, it's just a part of the game. I like PvP on my hunter and so I will PvP on my hunter. People can sit and stare at their high achievement points all day if they want, that's just not fun to me. It might not be all cuddly and happy sunshine fun time for everyone, but christ go level your fucking character if you don't like the PvP that is offered you.

(God I'm bored..)

ethics in a video game? wait, what?

Actually, this is a great point that has to be considered. When and how do ethics apply to a video game? I know there's various opinions on the issue, but a line has to be drawn somewhere...or does it?

There's no ethics in a game, but when you pay monthly fees to play the game then people are gonna start complaining about the little things that would normally not seem important to most people IE: A Twink playing in xp-on BGs. But levelers should only fight levelers, twinks should fight twinks. That is why blizzard gave us the "xp-off" option in WoW. Obviously if someone found a loophole that lets them play in XP-On bgs without gaining XP, then whoopy-doo for them. But feeling superior over levelers by fighting them in XP-On bgs instead of fighting people who are just as geared as you is no different than feeling superior to an ant.

Short answer: It's Pathetic.

Alternative answer: Pick on someone your own size.

You seem to argue for there being no ethics but then give evidence of there actually being ethics. I personally think that ethics can come into play in multi-player games (as there are real people on the other end of those cartoonish looking characters). But I think ethical lines are a bit fuzzy. For instance, I would argue that in cases of exploitation, ruining the game mechanics for others, abuse, etc. are unethical in a game like WoW. But I do not think it would be unethical if say you refused to return an item someone accidentally posted in the auction house for 1000g and want it back because they meant to post it for 10000g. Sniping auctions off the neutral AH also would be another example of something that ethics doesn't apply to imo (since you're using the neutral AH to do something that Blizzard did not intend it to be used for).

Not that i condone the behavior debated in this thread, but your question is one that deserves further exploration. In my opinion, imposing ethics in a video game is wrong. One may hold personal moral and ethical beliefs that govern how they themselves behave, but to suggest that their is a "behavior code" by which all players must subscribe and adhere to is ludicrous.

Many will argue that the TOS is exactly that, a code of law that defines the parameters of what is acceptable in-game behavior. While it may serve as a blueprint, "intent" in this case is vulnerable to interpretation, and would be very difficult to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt. Yes, we would like to hope that all players adhered to a similar conduct as ourselves, but to create an expectation of it under the guise of "ethics" isn't very realistic.

let me rephrase. this is the kind of behavior that makes people whine for twink nerfs, makes regular players go out of their way to post hate and offtopic vitriol in twink posts on the official forums, and makes people think every twink is a coward bully who is just out to ruin everyone's day. this is the kind of behavior that effectively shuts down any kind of productive discussion for change where twinks are involved.
