Hillary banning guns?

Alright, I'm going to play the bad guy here and say it - the 2nd Amendment is archaic and no longer necessary in our modern society. It was written during a time when the nation was just beginning to lay its foundation and could have been invaded at any time. That's quite clearly no longer an issue in 2016.

So you want guns to protect yourself? To protect yourself from what? Criminals entering your home? Criminals in public?

How effective do you think those guns are going to be if you actually practice proper gun safety in home? In order to prevent gun accidents with those very children or family members in your home that you want to protect, do you not agree that they should be unloaded, locked up and secured with appropriate trigger guards? Tell me how useful those guns are then in the event of a home invasion by criminals?

"Excuse me Mr. Burglar sir, give me a few minutes to go to my gun safe, unlock it and put a few rounds of ammo in and then you may continue with your invasion."

Right. How many people actually live in an area where they think carrying a gun around all the time provides safety against criminals in public? Do you just walk around in constant fear of something happening and think that having a gun is the only way to feel safe? What a miserable existence.

Protecting yourself from the government? If you honestly think having a few rifles and pistols in your home is going to serve even the slightest bit of purpose in the event you would actually need to defend yourself from a tyrannical government, that's a delusion that I can't even begin to touch.

Can't we just admit that the majority of Americans who clamor over the slightest threat to the 2nd Amendment are people who think guns are cool and just like blowing shit up with them? This being the case, what's wrong with allowing licensed and regulated places like shooting ranges to have guns that you can rent and blast to your heart's content?

Apologies for the wall of text, I highly doubt many people will take the time to read it all and will probably just call me a socialist pacifist coward or some variation. I just think the 2nd Amendment is archaic and no longer needed.

The second Amendment is necessary because it gives the people the right to defend themselves from invaders whether that's a home invader, or whether that's when the government fails to protect its citizens and the citizens can protect themselves from a foreign countries invasion.

Let me get this out of the way, if a robber knows you own weapons, do you think he will try to rob you or the guy who doesn't carry a weapon? Your argument about a gun being ineffective against a criminal is not true, if the criminal knows you have the same tool to take him out why would he even try to risk it when he can walk to someone else's unarmed house?

Most people who own guns don't live in constant "fear" about anything, but rather to protect themselves just in case something does occur. Not to mention, a few posts ago I said people are also saved by gun carrying civilians who saved innocent lives by criminals with knives and other objects. In that particular scenario, the person in "fear" is the civilian who is unarmed, not the person who is armed. The ones living in fear are the same people begging for help when they are being robbed or held hostage by a criminal with a weapon.

Of course with guns anything can go wrong, accidents can happen obviously, just like accidents can happen while driving a vehicle.

A "few rifles" and pistols can help in the case of a tyrannical government, especially when there are 320 million people in the US and let's just assume half of those people are armed that would be a pretty strong force to be reckoned with. Even if a tyrannical government arises, you can't just assume everyone involved in government matters will put up with that, but rather join a rebellion against it.

People don't just use guns to "blow shit up", they are used for sport as well as hunting and protecting oneself from being hunted out in the wild. I would even argue that people who dislike guns, and want them banned, are the people who are scared rather then the people who own guns themselves. Which is why they want them abolished and want them to be harder to obtain.

Did you miss my point about proper gun safety and the effectiveness your guns will have in a spur of the moment incident requiring you to have one? You either A) have them locked away properly and they're entirely ineffective in a moment's notice in the event of a home invasion or B) they're out in the open, loaded, readily accessible and you're simply encouraging accidents. There's also quite literally zero chance that the US is going to be invaded by any foreign power in the foreseeable future.

How does a robber know you own weapons? Sure any robber worth his salt will do some minimal casing but it's not like he's going to tell if someone owns guns or how many guns they own or how they're secured. My argument about them being ineffective is 100% true, read above where I just talked about proper gun safety. Do you honestly think someone will have time to be alerted to a home invasion, run to the gun safe, unlock it, unlock the weapon itself, load it, and be prepared to deal with an armed robber before getting shot by said robber?

Why else walk around carrying a gun then? If the person carrying said gun in public isn't in a constant state of fear of something happening, what then? If you feel a constant need to protect yourself from something, that's fear. That's quite literally an example of being fearful.

Let's say they're not afraid, for the sake of your argument, what then? Some sort of weird hero complex? Always have to remain strapped to be there for the 1 in 1000000 chances to save a civilian in distress?

If the government were serious about taking up arms against its own citizens, do you even stop to think about what that would entail? Congressmen in the streets with muskets that We The People can just swiftly overrun with our own guns? Do you not realize that if the government actually turned violent against its own people, it would likely involve the utilization of the most powerful military the world has ever seen? You wanna take your .22 into the streets and try to outlast an armed drone?

Using guns for sport is quite literally just blowing shit up lol. Shooting targets, clay pigeons, etc. Who needs an AK to take out a deer? Use a bow and give the thing a chance at least. I'm not afraid of guns at all and I doubt anti-gun advocates are either. They're just unnecessary in a modern society like we have today.

I wish we would keep politics out of this site. Everyone has their own point of view on the matter and are highly unlikely to change it because of what they read on a world of Warcraft website.
This is not a site.. This is a way of life

The government has been tyrannical for a very long time. The ship has sailed on defending yourselves against it. They don't need to arm themselves and come after citizens; they have other ways of control. Some of the richest people in the world believe that the sheer amount of humans living on earth is a problem and they have very clever ways of curbing the population. You drink sodas, eat preservatives, take a pill for everything and breath in lead falling from the sky. You buy into segregationist thought patterns. You all believe in invisible borders and silly things like race and right wing/left wing. You let corporations control your resources. The human race really has not evolved past tribalism. Guns don't even come close to psychological warfare. Those defending their right to bear arms aren't doing anything about a tyrannical government. We just play Warcraft and distract ourselves from it all.

I'm sure you drink sodas take pills and get your food from markets ran by big corporations

Lol. Can't we just like, stop the politics stuff? It literally just gets taken over by the same handful of people each time.

I haven't taken a pill in over a decade. Even when I partied every day all day, I didn't fuck with pills. I do drink sodas sometimes, but never a soda that has phosphoric acid in it...although I'm unaware of many of the other extremely harmful chemicals that could be (and probably are) in other sodas. I hardly drink these days and I quit smoking cigarettes years ago....but I'm still slowly killing myself just like everyone else. If I grew my own vegetables, raised my own animals to eat etc. I would undoubtedly live a much longer life. Cannabis helps, but it doesn't counter everything.

That is precisely what the British(the most powerful nation on the planet at the time) thought in the late 1700's about the American colonies. Look what it got them...
The United States of America

Except for the part where this isn't the 1700s and an oppressive regime can't be bested or overthrown by a few thousand guys with cannons and muskets...

aye, but the other reason why I brought this up was because in the long run more than likely she'll focus her attention to video games since that's likely is going to be the next target.

think about it, 3/4 of todays games either speak, have, or revolve around guns and most of blizzards games have guns or references of guns in them. it's just a matter on how that would go down then.

There are much bigger fish to fry than le gun violence. We're beasts. The transition takes place in the mind.

lol stop pls

lol stop pls
Alright but if people start to talk about harming others on this forum, I'll ask to close this. Btw, that hasn't happened yet so it all depends on everyone stops typing/texting on here.

People that haven't lived in large cities have nooooo idea lol. People that don't get out much have no idea either. I've worked in bars as an adult, hung out on the streets and partied at houses by colleges in several towns...I've seen some crazy shit. I've lived in small towns and large cities and I can tell you that far too many people are paranoid about something stupid born from misinformation. When it comes to guns, they're only around where there are drugs around for the most part.....or maybe when you drunkenly find yourself in the backyard of a ww1 veteran's house....been there lol.

Your poor desicion making and the "crazy shit" that resulted do not make a valid or convincing arguement for gun control.

Ooo a threat...
Have you tattled on the other threads? Perhaps ones where people were told to "die" and "I hope you get cancer"?
Nope, I've been busy with my road of life and trying to deal with
my plate than deal with the web's problems. But thanks for your input anyways.

Every discussion has some type of "problem" for someone out there that disagree to some extent. Why do ya think some people agree/disagree to someone's comment on any type of thread created at any given site?
