Help me decide on a new class

I socketed with talasites but every now and then I'll throw on the Rivendares and a Hunger of the Pack and do this. Depends on the map and how fast I gotta get to where I'm going. I'm tempted to pick up a second set to try those other gems.

when the passive regen is so low to begin with, in my opinion (i could be wrong) stacking talasite doesn't increase your effective health as much as stacking int+vers, both offer a compounding return in terms of longevity (passive regen = (int+0.5) *(1+vers%) as holy paladin), they also make your other heals bigger.

anyway, i am ready to go all in with both the sword and 30 gems, talk about efficiency as i was still debating whether i should do it 24 hours ago:

This could very well be the case. My talasite choice was broadly based to fulfill any of the three specs in one set of gear. More often than not, mana itself becomes the limiting factor.

for a ret set? Run the triple socket helm, dude. My warriors sitting at 20% vers using that helm, trust me you arent missing much.

no holy.

i move around at 120% speed, i am pretty much immune to slows due to https://www.wowhead.com/spell=216868/hallowed-ground

now convince me why this does NOT work so that i don't waste https://www.wowhead.com/item=32225

You're not near immune to slows. Consecration's on a ~9 second cooldown and its area of effect is around 8 yards. A good arcane mage or warlock will spam their slows, and there's always a multitude of hunters using concussive shot and pet slows. Hallowed ground definitely helps (love it on my prot pally), but unfortunately is nothing like blessing of freedom. Just didn't want you to have the impression it'll be like higher levels with 2x BoF.

I team with https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/sargeras/dfåç for battlegrounds and he's right up there in top damage and heals as holy pally. After playing prot pally, I feel limited compared to an offensive minded holy pally. Mainly in the healing teammates department in group fights. I'm leaning towards making an int/versa 2-h holy pally too!

maybe wait until i finish mine and i will report back if it is actually viable.

something can be viable on paper but completely gimped in practice.

The blade does 44 heal on a fury, pretty big waste of time on my part. Might aswell use sul'thraze or the the artifact stat stick

Agree. I like int/versa, but I wonder if having more haste will make holy feel better. As prot with no haste and 1.5 second flash of lights, ugh it just felt terrible when I was in a 3 vs 6 and trying to keep my two pug teammates alive.

On the original question of a class to pickup. I've had 3 sunwell geared arcane mages in the bracket, but haven't played them recently. It's not all arcane missiles ;) There's opportunity for good plays like sheeping 20x in a game, slows to help teammates, and counterspelling at critical times.

gearing up a paladin is such a nightmare, and if you look at my profile, you will see that i am not even close to being done.

Heh, yeah, it's hell running Old Hillsbrad hundreds of times.

Here's the end goal though, amazingly close back-and-forth Deepwind tonight. Many of us thought Horde was about to win, but somehow Alliance got the last tick. Check out the healers from both sides putting in the work.
