Guide to Farming F2P BoEs from Chests

I just like having gear sets, and having it match. I even take minor stat hits for aesthetic reasons. TM will make that redundant though. Assuming we have access to it, we can have any item we like statswise, and still keep the overall look. If you have to ask why, you wouldn't understand.
 
Just a little update, after what I estimate to be 75-100 chest openings, I did finally get the boots. Persistence pays off in this game. Some people will get what they want without trying, others can open 1k+ chests and never see it. If you spend enough time in the right level areas though, it will come eventually.

Yeah. If you see the rare you're in the right spot. Kill the rare and you get a green instead of a blue. Sometimes you'll get something good anyway.

There are some in redridge and ashenvale but i could never be bothered flying over there.
 
The Redridge chests don't drop 16-24 blues, the zone is too low. Many of the chests are near rares, but the chests won't be there every time, infact most of the time they won't be there. If you find one on a single circuit, that's a good run. The most I found in a single zone at one time was four. Many times I found none at all. You never know when someone has just beaten you to it.



Keep trying though. You'll get what you're after eventually.
 
Well I have been after these chests relentlessly. I have been to all of the zones but for the most part I stick to Hillsbrad.



Starting at Southpoint Gate I make my first stop off at the Sludge Fields. I have yet to find any here so far.

Then I head over to Dalaran Crater. This is a pretty good spot all those ruined buildings have a spawn point it seems.

I then head a long the coast up to Dandred's Fold. I havnt found anything yet at this field or the house and my gut tells me nothing is going to spawn here.

I then head east along the hills looking in each of the camps. Seen nothing so far in all four of these.

Once I get to Strahnbrad I dismount and clear out all of the houses. I have found a few chests here and I get quite a few silk drops for bandages.

I make one last stop off at the house in the field before heading into the snow. I have found a chest at this house once so far.

First I clear out the first cave in in Alterec as I have found a lot of chests here and then i head to the cave north of it where the rare always spawns. So far 1 chest in his cave. Then I make a quick pass through the villiage even though I havnt found anything here yet before entering Growless Cave to kill the rare. Lots of silk to be had here as well.



I usually stop here but sometimes I will check out eack of the outcroppings coming off of the mountain. Found 1 here so far.

Then Durnhold Keep and clear out Dun Gerok. Hant found any here yet.



Any suggestions on spots I might be missing?

that's quite the list you've got there, if only you were p2p you'd have like 2kg right there haha
 
If you're doing it for the Diamond Hammer, I honestly wouldn't bother. BoAs are better. Silver-Linked Footguards and Magician's Mantle are BiS stam items though, and are worth getting.

I have already purchased the Skullforged Reaver for my main hand. Off hand I am using the pvp sword, just looking to replace it with the Diamond Hammer.



I already use the Magician's Mantle pretty much all of the time and the Silver-Linked Footguards for when I have the flag.

I lol'd so hard.
 
I guess it might be useful OH, although you're losing out on secondary stats, and do you have the hit rating to make use of OH's extra DPS?. Difficult to say for sure. Worth getting I guess then, if only to test it out. I never saw a Diamond Hammer myself. It is on the loot table though, so if you keep opening them, you'll find it eventually.
 
Diamond Hammer is 3 strength 4 stamina.



What offers better stats for a warrior?



Pvp sword has 4 strength 2 stamina

Level 20 quest reward axe offers 3 strength 3 stamina 3 hit but a 2.8 dps drop. Forgot Orc has 3 expertise with this as well.



Fury gets a 3% hit from talents and with gear (wrists and boots) I am sitting at 6.7%. I am open to opinions, do you think this is a better dps option?
