Getting the most out of your F2P character.

Why did you necro this? No one post. Let it die back into oblivion.

actually a useful thread been brought back to life is awesome. Bringing something like an unlocked 24 hunter qq thread/1000 post flame war is just *folds newspaper and smacks you* bad bad bad.

This one's nifty. Basically it "right clicks" every gray item in your inventory; so, if you click it while a vendor window is open, it will sell all the gray items in your inventory.

WARNING: Do NOT click it if a vendor window is not open, or it will instead attempt to equip all the gray items in your inventory. Do NOT use if you have any gray items you wish to keep (RP gear, etc).

there is an addon for this. have you not watched hobbs vids?!?! :)

I use my multiboxing addon to do the same. It also comes in handy for buying a certain number of items you want to keep on your character (eg. water, mats for portals, rebirth, etc.).

If GW2 wasn't going live soon, I'd consider adding it as a function to F2PAddon, with the additional feature that it wouldn't sell greys if you were already gold-capped, and it would ask you if you wanted to buy eternium thread/walnut stocks, if you interacted with a vendor who sold them, while you were gold capped.

Twilight Highlands
The only tricky part here is getting to the Vermillion Redoubt, which is the part in the northwest of the zone that usually requires a flying mount to get to... thing is, you DO have a flying mount here... you just have to be dead to use it. What I did was run up to the mountains on the northeast edge of the Vermillion Redoubt, get killed by a mob, death-fly to one of the 'bumps' on the mountain that's higher and closer to the Vermillion Redoubt, then deleted my hearthstone and opened the 'character stuck' (similar to opening a GM ticket) menu and clicked "Teleport to Graveyard" (aka suicide). Death fly to the next highest/closest section of the mountain and repeat until you explore the zone.

Finally got around to going here.

You don't need to delete your hearthstone and unstick your character. Just have one of the ogres kill you at the base of the mountain and corpse hop [uh, corpse fly] up to the big platform area. Then make two gearsets, one fully geared with max stam and one naked. Then get naked, immediately equip all your gear, and make a small downward jump. It obviously takes a lot smaller fall to kill you since the second you equip your gear, your %-health is pretty low. (kind of like a Ghetto Lifetap) It only took me 3 corpse hops (could have done it in two) to get over the mountain.

Oh yeah...

Hey, I'm newish to wow starting with free to play. First I wanted to thank you for such great info! You mentioned the Wheel of the Lost Hope shield and I thought I'd add you can alternatively get the Buckler of the Seas in Westfall (same model) for transmog. Personally I prefer the War Paint Shield / Kresh's Back for transmog.

Also you mentioned swimming out in the ocean until you are fatigued. To get to Moonglade on my non-druid Horde character, I went from Ashenvale through Darkshore (avoiding guards) to the coast north of Moonglade. Then I swam out until I died from fatigue and resurrected at the spirit healer in Moonglade. I did this to level up fishing and cooking, mostly fishing as I got the Jeweled Fishing Pole from daily quests and needed to get to fishing level 300 to use it. I apologize if this information is already here somewhere or if I posted it in the wrong thread. Again, thanks for all the great info! =)

Hey there :D
Unfortunatelly, OP hasn't been active since 2011 or so, so he cannot add that info to the original thread. However, I can edit the post to add this info and some other info that appeared in the last pages that he didn't get to see.

OT: I also think this info is great, threads like this shouldn't be lost for years.. :cc

-Edit-------
Thread is updated now.

Thread is updated now with the info that OP didn't get to see. If you want to contribute please do so. You can also PM me to add new/more info or post it here (if you mention me I am likely to see it faster)

Some other items that may be possible and of note:

Ancient Amber from Archeology
Poison Extraction Totem
Highborn Soul Mirror from Archeology

Cheers

Good find, but it's a good deal shorter to just ride up through Felwood -- stay on the path and you can clear the whole thing without dying. It only becomes a deathzone if you want to get the explore achieve.
