Fury Warrior 8.1

Is there a particular reason the Versatility stat is so strongly favored for Fury Warriors in this bracket of PvP? Looking at the Fury Warriors in the Armory, it seems that most of them greatly favor versatility over other stats, except Strength. However, from what I've researched, Versatility doesn't seem to be focused upon nearly as much as other stats, in just about everywhere else in the game. I'm just wondering how far I should go out of my way to get gear with Versatility on it, as long as it has some amount of Strength on it, too.
Vers is extremely powerful at low levels but gets supplanted by other stats at end game.

You can stack vers to your hearts content, really. I think my vet warrior has 18%. Thats 18% more damage output and 9% less damage intake. Pretty excellent when you're solo queing on a melee class. Especially on a melee class thats gonna attract alot of attention very quickly.

If you're wondering about vers:strength ratios, I think the commonly agreed upon numbers are 1.5 vers = 1 strength. Thats not exact, mind you, but its a rough approximation that can give you an idea of what piece of gear to prioritize.

But honestly, just slap crusader on a couple heirloom weapons and go to town. It doesn't REALLY matter how you gear, the class is disgustingly broken. I've seen "twinks" in budget enchanted quest greens just clean house on fury warriors. Theyre stupid broken. Think less, rampage more.

I was looking in the Armory here and noticed something else about a couple of the toons there. Some of them had blue shoulders and leggings with enchantments on them. How is that possible? I thought you pretty much had to use heirlooms for those equipment slots, since the enchantments for them require being at a much higher level to use them, and you can just mail the heirlooms that way.

trade glitch

I think vers stacking is clearly the best choice for 29 warrior. A permanenet mini zerker buff is hard to beat and the squishyness gained from haste stacking outweighs the benefits of more enrage/rampage/attacks. In duels (not the perfect tool for analysis but none the less) as a disc it is maxxed vers warriors that are the most taxxing to heal through. Crusader is so high in uptime that strength is never an issue and permanent always on damage is immune to the rng gods that crit stackers pray to for there graces.

I dont even think its debatable

Vers > Haste > Crit

I still wear a felforged helm though for the strength but use the high vers no str rings.

should i use full vers gear or haste/vers? For example a pice of gear with +10 vers vs a piece of gear with 5 haste and 5 vers.

Do you have a suggestion for Warrior to deal with Mages? They've been giving me a very hard time lately. The problem is that they have more ways of dealing with me than I have to deal with them.

Of course, under ideal circumstances, I could just walk right up to them, so I don't waste a Charge or Heroic Leap to get in range. However, competent Mages will always see that never happens. If I try to walk up to them, they'll barrage me with Arcane Missiles and kill me before I can get in melee range. If I do use Charge, they freeze me in place and walk away. I can break it with the trinket cooldown and Heroic Leap, but then they slow me down with frost and teleport away. At that point, I'm out of ways of getting in range and quite dead. I do have access to Engineering, but there doesn't seem to be anything that can help me here.

Thanks for your help.

Evidently not. Just got nuked by Mages over and over again in another battleground. They seem to go out of their way to take me down first, and my healers are useless.

I'll try to be less glib

Mages counter warriors. You're supposed to lose to them, in theory at least. A good mage is just going to kite you to death and since you don't have double charge or storm bolt at this level, there's not much you can do about it.

It gets especially bad with arcane being so busted that there's 3-4 mages per bg. You can outplay one mage, but you're not gonna outplay 3.

If you find yourself 1 on 1, here's how it goes. As you noted, your best bet is to not open with charge. If you run up on a mage and they frost nova and run off, you're winning. Leap to them, they'll blink, you charge, pummel arcane, game set match.

Though you blaming healers is a red flag. I'm gonna guess your one of those warriors who gets rolling and starts tunnel visioning bad guys and over extends. As a healer, I can follow and try to keep you up, but you put me in a bad position and take gcds from other people when you do that. So typically, I'm just gonna let you die. Especially in a pug situation.

The best thing you can do about mages is simply be more field aware. Where's your team? Where's line of sight? Where are we moving to? Who's moving with us. Pull your head out of your rotation and look at the field of play.

It's gonna take practice but it'll mean more mage kills in the long run.

Evidently, I'm doing something seriously wrong then. Let me provide more information on this specific situation, though the general idea is very common for me.

I was in a group at Warsong Gulch with a couple other twinks, including both of the group's healers. I just recovered after dying to a Mage. They took my insignia, so I have to rez from the graveyard. I'm heading back to the group to help out, with everyone else in my group fighting at midfield, and no one else has died recently, so I'm on my own here. Only one other is at critical health for the two healers to focus upon. The EFC crossed midfield without incident. Furthermore, no one on our side has grabbed their flag yet. Being at midfield, there doesn't appear to be an obvious way to break line of sight, which I suppose is the point, for the Mages. Of course, taking out the EFC should be top priority, but since I'm at the graveyard, on the other side of the battlefield, I'm not going to get there on time.

I see 4 other options, none of them good. If I try to go around a building, to break line of sight, no one else is there, and I'm not helping out the group or doing anything useful. If I decide to join the action and ignore the Mages, then they just nuke me from afar, and I die. If I Charge, the Mages will have more CC than I have means to break them. If I try to walk up to them, instead of Charge, they slow me down and/or nuke me before I can reach them. Is there another option I'm not seeing here?

Thanks for your help.

You want the 29s to be balanced, they are not. Ranged is king, and then some non-rogue melee shit falls in a general heap. "Warriors are super good!"... when they have pocket heals.

How would that change at higher levels? Warrior is always a melee class and Mage is always a ranged class. Ranged always has a tangible advantage over melee. That's why everyone uses guns, irl.

In any case, it appears that I've been misinformed to believe that Warrior was OP in the 20-49 brackets. Unless I find evidence to the contrary, I'll move onto something else, then. Thanks, anyway.

The warrior OP at the 29s with the right gear and if you play right.

I imagine you are playing like this... you run to the WW in Gilneas... heroic leap across the water... then charge into the first mage you see... then get obliterated.

You still have to play smart. Let some other nerd go in first, then just casually "get in there".

You also have to remember that if you are solo queing into 29s and running in to premades it does not matter what you re playing you will lose... that is about 99% of the entire battle right there.

LMAO youre doing something seriously wrong then, since warriors are bust atm. ive played a warrior in every bracket for a long while and i can say that theyre absolutely retarded, strongest theyve been in a long time. esp. at levels like 49 and 59 youre going to be steamrolling no matter what.

What classes are supposed to go in first? It seems like whoever is dumb enough to reach midfield first is going to get annihilated by ranged units, no matter what. That makes it very difficult for multiple characters to gang up on someone.

Then educate me, seriously. I'm a noob. What do you do when a Mage is 40 yards away from you pummeling you with Arcane Missiles? You'll either die before you can get in range to scratch them or waste a Charge/Heroic Leap just to get in range and run out of ways to break their crowd control.

Lots of people on the forums are going to tell you that Warrior is OP in the 29s... these people are dumb shits. They don't understand that they are queing with friends and rolling people... or they don't understand that they have heals when their targets don't.

However you cannot deny that a warrior with a crusader proc up just kills a mage in about 2 seconds. Can you post your gear link please so I can see it? You really should be able to kill a mage that has used frostnova already in honestly 3 or 4 button clicks... no joke.

Then move on to a mage, and come back crying when you lose to a warrior that isn't you. /shrug
