PTR First Look at Shadowlands Level Squish

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. The nobody dies stall fest meta we have currently is terrible.
Healers would definitely be hard to come by then for damn sure, lol. I feel like both sides would lose a ton, I'm not gonna lie I'd probably just play boomie/feral.

I'd much prefer a meta where shit actually dies and clashes don't last as long as your healers mana depleting. I'd stick to my priest and heal. The people that just like to DPS without the risk of dying would reroll, sure. Those people are going to reroll whatever is fotm in SL anyways (I predict DH/DK being sick,) so meh.

Yeah, you have a point with that. Instead of going oom for someone to die or having to line up a double aimed shot to kill someone. I was never much of a healer mainly playing rogue for 15 years. I do have a ton of fun on resto now, and I've gotten halfway decent(not going to lie if more people had interrupts that would really step up peoples skill cap with learning how to fake cast more often, also it would help shit die.) I can totally see those 2 being very popular. Both are amazing classes, dk is a wonky play style and has a high skill cap with pet controls and dot management, and dh is whatever. DH gets old in about a month. Really cool class though.

My concern is DK/DH kit is just going to be more advanced than any other class @ 10 in SL, and they'll be able to be vets just like any other class.

Yeah, that would kill the bracket for me for sure. Hopefully everyone gets a similar amount of abilities across the board. If DH has meta and imprison interrupts dashes and all that, and warrior doesn't even have rampage yet, that would be completely fucked.

Edit: I really cannot wait for beta already.

I can't wait to have double warglaive on my 29 :D
Any word on whether or not the DH class restriction on Warglaive of Azzinoth transmogging being removed in SL? I wouldn't be entirely surprised if that stays.

I haven't heard anything yet. I did the achievement from tw to unlock it on mine. I was really looking forward to them letting rogues and warriors use it too. When I think warglaives of azzinoth I think about 4 piece 4 piece glaive hemo prep rogues season 4 of bc arenas. So iconic to me. Oh well. It's a "hunter weapon" fml.

I mean, it probably fits into the lore or whatever, I guess.

Personally, if DK/DH is anything like it is now (with Party Sync turned on), they aren't too bad. They both kinda pale in damage compared to other classes. The only thing that's really OP is DH's mobility, literally the only thing that can catch up with a DH would be a druid with Swift pots/glider , or another DH

The only reason DK/DH party sync isn't top tier atm is because they aren't vets. Once they get enchants, professions, etc. it's going to be a whole new ball game.

Priests and mages get intellect and stamina buff which is nice, also looking forward to all the kicks being added. Would be nice if they also lowered dispels a bit, the tutorial island would be a good place to teach new players about dispelling tbh. Will be funny if they don't touch artifact weapons and everyone and there mom has to pick them up.

Shadowlands is looking really interesting for twinking I am actually looking forward to it.

I can almost assuredly say no, I have sent many nasty tickets about this and have gotten the general gm response of uselessness. The legendary transmog system is stupid. They should only be mogged on the toons that own them, legion slandered legendarys and now this just drove their importance into the ground.

I have a question about current battlegrounds level and gear scaling, since I've been out of the game for awhile. At one point, Blizzard used to scale gear item level (and corresponding stats) from the bottom of a bracket to the top of a bracket. At another point they dropped that, and simply scaled the character so that the character's base stats went up, but the gear stats didn't change. Where do things stand now?

After about three hours of preliminary research in WoWhead SL Beta exploring gear for the 20-29 bracket, it's looking very likely that all of the best gear will either scale from quests and dungeons, or drop from raids requiring level 27 (the old 70 raids). Basically, all of the gear from levels 71-79 got squished into levels 28-29, so it's very likely that socket gear will rule the bracket. While this isn't new for 70-79, what IS new is the mastery stat getting pushed back so that the whole bracket has access to it now, and (ironically) the stat squish increasing the impact of sockets.

Depending on how much Blizzard squishes gems (and whether Blizzard changes gear ilvl requirements for certain gems), it's likely 27s will see the same overall stats as 29s in battlegrounds. If ilvl scaling in BGs is a thing, then it becomes likely that the optimal level to play in 20-29 will be 27. Of course, so many variables make this way too preliminary to even guess, but I would love to see one of the old-school brackets retain peak status in the new brackets.

Also depends if they finally break the spellfire and whitemend set bonuses so mages and warlocks can't 1 shot and 2 shot everyone.

I don't have much faith in retail twinking. I'm hopeful for Burning Crusade twinking, but that's more than a year out.

I don't foresee any changes coming to the spellfire and whitemend sets. I do foresee the stat squish providing some interesting and worthwhile alternatives to the spellfire set, which implies either the stat squish will (comparatively speaking) take a little of the edge off mages and warlocks, or put a little more edge on other dps.

Definitely interested in what TBC twinking could look like. Given that spell damage and spell healing didn't merge until 2.4, that could make things interesting.
