First few hours/days of WoW?

Man, what a great thread :) Forget the first few hours, how about the first week or two! That first month on WoW is the best imo, it was so fun exploring with friends and discovering all the new things WoW had to offer each day. It was magicaaaaal.

I actually started playing WoW just to mess with people on a trial account. I got my kicks occasionally by trolling on free MMOs, lol. I also wanted to see what all of the hype was about. As soon as I loaded up WoW for the first time though, I quickly became more interested in exploring than messing with people. The rest is history :) Started playing in BC.

My first toon was a hunter that later became my main. I didn't know about stats for certain classes, so I tended to try and balance out my amount of intellect vs stamina vs agility, ect. I also like my toons to look nice, so I often geared based on whether the shoulders were cool or if it matched. I remember questing in Darkshore and buying all the whites from the leather vender and thinking I was hot stuff in my matching quest gear. I wouldn't upgrade my gear when mobs dropped greens because then I would look tacky, and a green name didn't mean anything special, right? If It came from the area vendor then I was doing good! Lol.

I also often rolled on anything in dungeons that had stamina or agility, regardless if it was really a tanking item or not(I didnt know!). When the members of the dungeon group got angry at me, I couldnt understand why no one would let me have gear for my hunter, and thought that everyone was lying and just trying to keep all the stuff for themselves!

When I got that first 'this item will become soulbond' notification I was afraid to equip a green for the first time because I thought it would be stuck to me forever or something lol.

When I made my first toon, the hunter, I didnt bother picking up the starter quest and just ran on the path to explore. I got angry and frustrated when mobs in higher level areas would come out of nowhere and kill me. I thought, now what a stupid game where its near impossible to go anywhere!

On my first day, there also happened to be a very high level Horde in the night elf starting area who was walking around on his mount with his pvp on. About twenty of us level 1's, 4's, and 5's were attacking him and knocking off about 1% of his health every 20 seconds, haha. After a good 20 minutes, he finally turned around and wiped us all out.

My first character was a Night Elf Rogue, and at around level 16 I got a cool gun and trained to be able to equip it (Vanilla days). Soon after that I joined my first PuG Dungeon which was Blackfathom Deeps. I spent the entire dungeon run shooting the gun because I was scared to get close in case I died, and I loved the sound of the "click-BOOM" in the cave tunnels...

Also on said Nelf Rogue, at maybe level 10 I wanted to attack Horde! The mobs were too high level to run to Durotar through Ashenvale for me, so I swam around the north side of Kalimdor, swimming ALL THE WAY TO DUROTAR! Dying many times when I did have to go on land. Unfortunately after that epic journey all my armour and weapons were completely destroyed from durability, and I couldn't even attack the levelling Horde because Durotar is a Horde zone not contested! :(

Crossing the river to Duskwood and getting killed by a Wolf which was level ?? so i thought it was an end game area.

And woodcutting in Duskwood in the beta...or alpha..

Back in BC when I started my first toon was a Human Paladin.

So I did the first few quests after I was told to go to a mine (you all know what mine in Northshire) I just couldn't figure out where it was so eventually I gave up with level 5 I ran out of the starting zone found out of sheer luck the Skinning and Leatherwork trainer, the newbie I was I thought "WOW IT HAS MORE ARMOR THEN MY GEAR IT GOTTA BE MAIL"(I was too damn lazy to read stuff at the time especially Tradeskill stuff). The last thing I could remember I was running around outside of the Starting Zone and sometimes inside to get those damn pelts and when I finally got a full "set" of the gear I was so proud of myself and then I eventually found the mine and gave myself the biggest facepalm available on earth.

*Edit*:
Are we allowed to share just one story or several?

My first toon was a dwarf hunter on a private server. I literally had NO IDEA what I was doing. But I grinded and grinded. And grinded. And grinded. All the way up to the high 50s. I was all decked out in cloth gear from Silithus. Thought I was pro. Lol. Not. My talent trees were a freaking wreck. I hadn't trained any abilities in freaking forever, since I couldn't afford it. Then in Un'goro this tauren druid killed me with auto attack. He asked why I wasn't fighting back. ( private server, remember? Cross faction chat ftw). I said I WAS fighting back. He had a good laugh.

First few hours on retail were pretty much the same. No. Freaking. Clue. Then in Northern Stranglethorn, this Druid named Sentcha befriended me and showed me the ropes. Even then it took me 18 days /played to hit 80. He leveled at least two toons in that time. Best part is that i'm still friends with him to this day.

My first toon was a ret pally. When I queued for my first dungeon, I ticked all the roles because I didn't know exactly what I was supposed to do and I also figured everyone probably had these 3 options too. I ended up as a healer. I didn't know how to heal others. The thought of using FoL or Holy Light on them never crossed my mind. So when my party members told me to heal, I remember staring at my action-bar for a good 2 minutes trying to figure out how I'm supposed to accomplish that. As I browsed over Word of Glory, it said "Consumes up to 3 Holy Power to heal a friendly target ", so I figured, THAT MUST BE IT. I remember feeling so proud at myself for discovering this. As they told me once more to heal, I reminded them that I needed Holy Power. Guess what happened next...

Maybe this thread is down but my first char was a human mage, i got told to test wow by a friend and when he leaved i couldnt do the quest where you take the fires and i tried to get it by frost Nova the fire, lol. His brother came to play with my brother and i asked him what to di and he helped me.
I quitted that toon at 8 and had him in GS for 2 months

Also i loves worgs so ive atleast leveled one/class
I get them to 20, get about 600-800 honor each and then delete lol, no CTA

My Ex carried the game into our apartment-sharing community. We played on a free server, that was totally bugged. Took a look over the races... "I want to be a night elf!" and then even worse - it was a hunter. Some serious amount of fails later, I jumped down the tree of life, lost my pet, couldn't tame a new one (bugged private server) and then I saw my ex with the druid he was playing "That druid does more damage than my hunter!" and I switched.
First time healing in dead mines on a real realm... oh lord... we were three players in our apartment, no teamspeak cause only ISDN so we were yelling the stuff through the rooms at midnight until the door bell rang "Would you mind being a bit more quit?" Oops. The first time, I didn't know what to do at all. My ex told me to keep rejuv active on everyone... nobody died but the performance was weak.. And that idiotic idea to go for all stats as druids are hybrids and can do everything. But I was proud like hell to have a blue staff with arcane damage bonus. Everybody asked me why I use that... blahblahblah "mage weapon!"

The most embarrasing part: It took me 20 days played to get to 60. But by lvl 52 I had ALL professions on 300, even fishing.

Alrighty guys lets take this back to 2004, sodas poured and noobs galore

Okay now keep in mind that I'm about seven years old at this point. My father got the game, and of course I wanted to try! Let's see, lets pick a race.
Night elves have some sick ears man, I will make one of those. Hunter? Duh. I wanted to name my character 'Killer, I thought I was so bad ass....

Unfortunately, I spelled it wrong, so I ended up with an angry looking green male elf named Kiler.

Fast forward that awesome 2 minute intro and we see Kiler, saying "hey hey you fight me" to the gremlins because I didn't know how to attack things. So I would type in chat taunts, wondering why on earth these demons wouldn't fight me! This was approximately my first hour of playing WoW. Pops showed me how to attack stuff, so at level 3, I left the starting zone. I ran along the road. I ran and ran and ran until a nightsaber attacked me. I freaked out and tried to hearth, all while in combat and being attacked. Thankfully a leveling druid saw me spamming my hearth stone and popped a rejuv and killed this ferocious level five beast. I was on my way to greatness.

I eventually figured out a little more and went on to try and tame a pet. After nabbing one of those sick spotted night sabers, I named it Spot. About one week later, Bliz redid the skins and changed my cats fur to stripes. I cried in real life, fully believing that I was stuck with a striped cat named Spot at level 14. I got that char up to 19, complete with grays and whites and some sweet int and spirit gear :)

Made a Night Elf hunter when the ten day trials came out.
It was like an episode of Lost...
Didn't know how to get off the Night Elf starting area - so I ended up finding a place I could jump off from. After dying many times on the way down from the zone, being killed by falling and hitting branches, I finally made it to the bottom.
My next goal was to make it to the mainland, so I swam. It took many deaths and a long time because I was brand new to the game... But I made it.
I ran all the way to Bloodhoof Village, which took a bloody long time back then without a mount - and killed the low level guards until the 10 days ran out.

Good times...

I also didn't realise that stats on gear were beneficial at all, no clue why.
On every one of my characters, especially my Paladin - I went for whatever whites had the most armour...

Golden days for trials, WOTLK was...

So I was thinking back recently over my first few hours and days of playing WoW (on my nelf rogue), and some of the things I remembered about it were great :) For example, as a rogue I knew I had a stealth ability, and being a nelf, obviously the first thing I saw was shadowmeld. Having no idea what a racial even was, I thought it was my rogue stealth, and was really disappointed when I found it broke on moving :p As soon as I unlocked the actual stealth, I was so pleased :)

Anyway, just wondered if any of you guys have memories of your first few hours in WoW, were you as naïve as I was???

The first class i played was the druid. I really liked druid because i played Warcraft3: Reign of Chaos , and Warcraft3: Frozen Throne. The druids were awesome there so i watched a documentary about WoW. So i decided to play WoW. Playing the druid was 100% fun. I liked every ability there. My first druid is named Arberian. I still play on him. Its kinda fun. I like druids.
- The first talent i used was Balance and then tried resto.

Started as a nelf hunter and eventually gearing him up with crappy quest gears including intellec gears. After 2 days i eventually reached darkshore and curious as hell i jumped into the maelstorm thinking was over then seeing him again. After i accidentelly changed realm and not seeing my hunter made me cry and was sad the whole day. Then on other realm i created a belf paladin, war, priest and after 1 week i learned many things from friends and eventually get back in my old realm.

I was like 13 years back then. To be honest, it was kinda nostalgic to talk about these things over here :D

I was a rogue in vanilla - i spent my first few months farming feathers and slow falling off high places cause i didn't know what wow was ACTUALLY like. ><
