<Fifty> Classic Raiding Project

Well not cap but be able to reliably land spells. Dual pyrium wep, cogs of the tiger, expertise gear giving spell hit so that edgemaster's give almost 40 hit rating, etc.

i heard it was hard to get those

Hey nice run Friday night gents - looking forward to the next!

What's our plan for the next raid?

Plan for this upcoming weekend:

Go into BWL:

We're going to continue to familiarize ourselves with the first boss, and give the 2nd boss a few tries. Not because we think we can down Vael, but because we need to have everyone be aware of HOW to do the boss once we get enough people. The minimal amount of people we need is 25. 30+ for a smooth kill.

Go into AQ40:

The first boss in AQ40 is actually quite difficult if people aren't CCing correctly. So we need to continue to familiarize ourselves with the first boss so we can get good progression once we get more people. I think we should also practice AQ40 more-or-less against the mobs. Learning how to pull the trashmobs is going to be huge for fast/easy raids. Who ever is leading the raid will decide if we are giving some of the AQ40 bosses a few attempts.

Other than that, we may try for a AQ10 Speed run or a full clear of MC40 for those who haven't gotten the chance to see it.

EDIT:

For the Vael fight in BWL. I want to try something different.

Instead of having 5 Different Positionings, Lets do 4 positionings.

Normally we would do:

1. MT In front of boss
2. Offtanks vael's left thigh
3. Ranged/Healers by wall
4. Melee right side of vael's torso.
5. BA behind Vael but to the right of the tail(away from his tail lash).

This time I would like to try:

1. MT in front of boss
2. Offtanks vael's left thigh
3. BA targets will stand 15-20 yrds away from the right side of vael's torso(right behind the raid). This area should be able to reach the offtanks but not be in range of BA AoE.
4. Ranged/melee/healers right side of vael's torso.

How to for tanks:

Boss should be facing the chair(your back should be facing the chair). Keep your Defensive(IE: Savage Defense/Shield Block) up at all times, spam ur most powerful attack, and pop CDs once your Fire Dmg Ticks are hitting for 4.6k.

When the tank receives BA, the next tank needs to take his place; but don't move until your current tank is dead. The person with the 2nd highest aggro will always be Vael's Next target.

Vael cannot be taunted.
A Tank will die every 45 seconds no matter what, from BA. The tank with the highest Aggro will be targeted by BA.
DO NOT move Vael around. This fight has intense AoE Dmg than can go wrong very quickly if the tank moves Vael towards the raid, or his tail towards the raid.
Offtanks, try to stay at least 10yrds away from the MT; this will keep you away from the Cleave.
If you get BA as a tank, continue tanking and don't move.

How to for Healers:

2 Healers are needed at all times to be spamming heals on the tank. You must be using your strongest possible single-target heals nonstop. If the tank dies before he receives BA, it can lead to a raid wipe(due to lack of tanks soaking up BA).
Any healer who is not designated to heal the tank, must be using AoE Heals on the raid. Since the entire raid is stacked together, THAT shouldn't be a huge issue. But as soon as the 4th healer dies, it'll become vicious.
1 Healer will die every 15 seconds no matter what from BA(skipping once for tanks every 45 secs). If you are targeted by BA, move to the designated area.
Overhealing is okay. Healing too early is better than healing too late. You cannot run out of mana, so don't worry about OOMing.
If you are assigned to heal the person who's tanking Vael, you need to not heal the raid at all. You cannot sacrifice even half a second to heal the raid when the tanks are being hit for 4.6k Fire dmg Ticks, 3.6k Fire Breathe, and 1-2k melee dmg. Not to mention, Crushing blows could easily 1shot your tank.

How to for DPS:

DPS race. Kill the boss within 3 minutes or else everything starts dying.
DPS must be able to do 465.0+ DPS or else the boss will not die.
DPS should never be behind the boss.
DPS should always be at least 10yrds away from the MT, to avoid cleave dmg.
DPS should never be in front of the boss, or else you will be 1shotted.
DPS should stack up as close as possible to the designated area; to increase your healing received.
NEVER unstack. This is a Heavy AoE fight, make it as easy as possible for the healers.

Prioritize Healing assignments based on Class/spec:

Rdruids:

Raid/Tank Healing:
Keep Lifebloom + Rej at all times on the active tank. Keep Swiftmend on CD and only use it for the raid. Use Cenarion Ward on the tank 15 Seconds after they grab Vael; do this for every tank.

Raid Healing:
Spam Rej on the raid. Prioritize people who have been hit already by the AoE

Tank Healing:
Spam Regrowth

Rshams:

Raid/Tank Healing:
Keep Earthshield and Riptide up on the active tank at all times. Keep Healing Stream Totem on CD at all times.

Tank Healing:
Spam Healing Surge. Keep Tidal Wave Proc up at all times by keeping Riptide on CD.

Raid Healing:
Keep Riptide on yourself. Use yourself as the Epicenter and spam Chain Heal.

Hpally: (NEVER BUBBLE ON THIS FIGHT)

Tank/Raid Healing:
Keep Eternal Flame up on the tank at all times.

Tank Healing:
Put Beacon of Light on yourself Only use Holy Shock if the tank is low and your Flash of Light isn't going to make it in time Spam Flash of Light

Raid Healing:
Put Beacon of Light on the tank. Keep Holy Shock on CD. Spam Holy Radiance.

Disc Priests:

Raid/Tank Healing:
Keep Weakened Soul Debuff from Power Word: Shield on the tank at all times. Keep Renew up on the tank at all times.

Tank Healing:
Keep Penance on CD. Spam Flash of Light. Use Spirit Shell 20-25 seconds after the tank has grabbed aggro. Use Inner Focus with your best judgement.

Raid Healing:
Spam Prayer of Mending
Use Inner Focus -> Spirit Shell right after putting Renew -> Power Word: Shield on the tank in the very beginning on the fight after the tank has grabbed aggro. Then again after the 4th healer has died from BA.

General Guide Lines:

Always be 10yrds away from the person tanking Vael.
Never be in front of the boss(unless ur tanking Vael).
Never be behind vael.
Go to your designated area if you get BA.
Be as stacked up as possible(This will be incredibly helpful for healers)
Never leave the stack(^^^^^)
Stay in your designated area for your assignment.

Even more basic:

1. Be in the correct position.
2. Tank swap correctly
3. AoE Heal like a boss.
4. Kill Vael before your tanks die.

EDIT2:

I think i got carried away with this post. oh well :p

I have a bunch of aquamarine signets(3x of the bear, 1 monkey 1 tiger). If anyone wants them talk to me. I also picked up a lei of lilies for super cheap. That's mine though. I got my dk to level 81 today, so I can use wep chains now, and in the process almost made enough for my cloak of coordination, but I bought that lei. I have the enchant for it too. I'll get it tomorrow. I'm feeling good about my fifties atm.

I'm going to love this fight once we get some better attempts in, since I was keeping up with the hunters for those few attempts we made. Unlimited energy FTW, which leads me to have another bleed on the boss full time. /cheer

Also Cer you still need that Rejuv potion? I plan on xferring over to Spinebreaker tonight.

For shadow priests, I found something cool. Blessed hammer of grace and this offhand from a rare in zf gives the same hit as staff of Jordan, except in spirit, which is always preferred because of mp5. It also gives like 3 more spellpower.

Yeah go ahead and bring it

I'm gonna roll a S priest on Spinebreaker after I transfer Blademaiden (I already have half of the BiS gear). I also found Manual of the Clouds - nice on use spirit boost for boss fights mayhap?

Still playing around with haste/hit/int stats - trying for 5% haste then spirit/int stack.

If any one needs mats or BoEs on Spinebreaker my AH is pretty reasonable - send me a PM with requests within the next 48 hours.

XOXO,

Uncle Drünk

9.99% haste is what you want. 2 dp ticks and one extra tick to sw pain and vamp touch. The next one is like, 24.92% I think(?), which is possible but so not worth it.

Edit: Embrace of the wind serpent + ultra spectropic detection goggles gets you there at the cost of only 15 spirit

Soooo I am debating if I should either Make a new character and make them a tank, or make my warrior a tank and make a new DPS?

ugh decisions decisions...

No class/spec is unique amigo ;o)

And yeah Ed - I agree with your gearing choices for the haste breakpoint (including shadowform)... I'm just starting this toon so miles to go.

@ Cer - much easier to convert your current warrior to tank - but you do seem intrigued by guardian tanking lol.

Galli nice S priest - holy hit stack! Check out Manual of the Clouds - seems like a decent offhand choice for boss fights.

so...I just picked up the 65 int flask recipe from the AH in my home server.

:D:D:D:D

So really surprised by this nights raid.

We didn't have enough Healers to do a srs progression attempt. But with 11 people and only 2 healers, we did the first two bosses in MC40 like it was nothing with no boss wipes.

Great job!

Heads up:

We may or may not raid tomorrow(saturday). I won't be home until 8:30 CST however Sunday looks good. So be ready to raid sunday night and keep an eye out for saturday.
