EU+US Feral - Superior Impact

It’s so strong. I put it on a bg weap finally and I was able to hit 700-800 non crit bites (in tigers fury 50+energy), in a mostly crit/Glass stacking gear set. The gear on my toon is in my armory link for druid in my sig.

The jump from using it on a Dungeon polearm was pretty big, not sure if it scales off the weapons base dmg somehow? Or just weap dmg is that big for feral I guess.

Not gonna lie, Zazz.... the multiboxed mages are frustrating tonight.
Be careful you don't throw a grenade that hits him for 300 damage it might offend him and his triple stacked vulperan saltwater racial. :(

I think I was on my warrior, Sigr. The ally team was freaking out. I noticed that you had taken the time to respond to my question in this thread so I didn't feel as angry as my teammates. :p

Hmm so I finally got around to trying Feral. More or less fully geared and have a BG staff with +3 dmg (+4 inside BG). I have to say the damage is underwhelming. My Shreds are averaging 131 with crits averaging 206. I thought those were the ones that were supposed to scale funny? Or was it the Ferocious Bite finisher?

You're looking for big bites as feral, pay attention to what your bites are critting for.

Cool guys, thanks for the feedback! My Bites were critting for around 600 to 800.

I guess I should just about remove Rip from my toolbar?

Oh and I assume +3 weapon damage weightstones are superior to the +3 Vers mana oil, right?

Ohti and I have a healthy difference of opinion when it comes to how feral should be played. The weapon enchant effects all feral spells including healing.

Rip dose not need to be used as a 5 combo point, it dose the same damage per tic, just last longer per combo.

Here is a ss from my BG the other day.

2 ways to play Feral that I’ve seen:

1.) Big Bites, “stealthy” playstyle, blow up target squishies like a priest or a mage, get in-and-out as fast as possible. Uses “Sabertooth” talent for 20% more Bite damage. Can be very strong because with proper gear and enchants a 5-stack Bite can one-shot glass cannon clothies.

2.) Spread Pressure, “jump around kiting people / hybrid off-heals” playstyle, applying Moonfires to build combo points, using Rip on enemy front-liners, and using Bite more as a “peel” mechanic to chunk down any melees that overextend into your back line, while helping with off-heals when needed. Uses “Lunar Inspiration” talent. Very strong because you can stay in cat form 90% of the time, so you’re very mobile, immune to polys, your spread pressure/DoTs is strongest in the bracket (up there with Boomie; if you can get frequent Rips and Bites on enemy front-liners without messing up your positioning you’ll easily top damage meters), and you can throw in some off-heals to support your healers when things get dicey.

Both playstyles are really strong, just depends what you’re trying to do and what your team needs. Solo-queue and generally speaking, you’ll probably have more of an impact with playstyle #2; with a pre-made and some basic communication, you can probably get away with playstyle #1 to shake things up and enjoy some lols one-shotting clothies.

I like this discussion. I've talked aurora vs quickblade for feral several times with a couple friends since you and I had that conversation that night in /g (we really tried giving aurora the best chance we could) and this is the conclusion we've come to.

(This isn't all coming straight from me. This wall of text is more a collaboration of thoughts between 3 different people, that's why I've put it in quotations.)

"Feral is currently best played as a high instant burst class. Which means that it's most effective at annoying and potentially deleting high stack flag carriers within seconds out of nowhere along with out of nowhere bursts in mid-fights on a clothy or rogue. This makes high critical strike better especially since feral has base 10% crit, which gives them a 5% head start over other classes. This stat priority has been tested in wargames and pugs in the 19s and 20s bracket, and in no shape or form is rotting as a feral druid impactful in any way. The main damage that feral will have is from Ferocious Bite + Tiger's Fury, as it will deal aimed shot level burst when auto attacks are in the equation. Now, anyone that is playing haste on feral is legitimately incorrect and trolling hard. Blame your losses on these nerds. Crits = Kills, Haste = Spread Damage. Haste does not decrease the global cooldown for feral like it does for other classes, and instead just lets bleeds and moonfires do slightly more damage. Thought process of these losers: LET'S JUST SACRIFICE 20% CRIT AND DO SLIGHTLY MORE ROT PRESSURE IN A BURST META!!!!!! Overall, ferals should look to build combo points, restealth, and coordinate a bite with another player in their game to quickly burst down a target before they are healed. Rotting is wasting their damage potential in mid fights, and also wasting their time in capture the flag maps. Speaking of which, feral has among the strongest offensive play in the game. It's mobility allows it to keep up with druids while having a large burst available in addition to its consistent high dps. It should be noted that feral will obviously not solo an rdruid, but it can kill an rdruid with a competent rogue at its side (two stealth classes). Moving back to the DoTs idea, I want to emphasize again that spreading dots in a mid fight is NOT IDEAL and NOT IMPACTFUL. Your meters suck. Raking an EFC and moonfiring an EFC when you understand you will be on that target for a long enough period of time that it will create a DPS profit compared to shredding. However, sitting in mid as a feral is normally going to be a horrible idea since most nerds just try to pad meters. Let's talk about how feral in mid can be played efficiently: frontlining as bear form, building combo points, and popping tiger's fury + ferocious bite on targets in range of its damage (think of it like an execute). Feral is NOT a mid class, but if you are rockheaded about playing it like one, at least front line since you are a bear."

Double posting kind of awkward I know but I'm just now reading this post and I want to interject and say that #1 is more impactful than #2 by an almost undebatable landslide (read my post above for context.)

Had to change my opinion slightly, some stuff is still relevant. Left text in spoiler for humble reasons.

When you crit for over 2.1k you kind of have to admit defeat.

This logic is a bit weird mate, do these friends even play feral? Just going to point form response
Edit: Still turned into txt wall, sorry. I also enjoy the discussion :)
Edit:2.1 Just realized you are suggesting to use Sabertooth>Lunar. Just ran some games with this, it’s not horrible I can definitely see what you are saying. CBF editing bellow but I can agree your way dose work if that’s the way you want to play it.

*Burst class? Sure if bite from stealth crits, otherwise you need to wait for mail from Africa before you are back up to 5 combo points and 50energy.

*War games? Since when do we prioritize gearing for this and including 19s who don’t even get rip.

*You would need to stack around 35% crit to have your “20% advantage” and will loose a lot of versa to do this.
*10% base crit yes, most ferals have around the 19-24% pre scale. That’s about 8-12% loss (instanced) assuming you run no crit at all which I would not suggest.
*Even at this sort of wasted crit levels you are still going to be lucky to get 2 out of 10 Bites to actually crit.

*Rotting? Are you suggesting trying to play a feral like a warlock? Why would you do that.
*Moonfire is the cheapest combo point, of course target spread when building finisher from range.
*The feral playstyle I’m referring to is off healing that’s just how I like to play.

*When did I ever say feral is a Mid class? In a ranged meta that’s just stupid and the biggest reason I hate EOTs (the worst map for melee imo)

*Of course use high agility/crit when going for EFC return with stacks, who dose not have multiple sets for different situations.

-These are not ideal scenarios to be in but almost unavoidable
*Bleeds on plate (war/rets) is better need to kite they will destroy you if you try to shred to bite.
*Bleeds on “good” healers is better with bleeds on dps and target swap bite kill.
*Of course a feral can kill a healer when it has a rogue with them, so can every other DPS when rogue is stun/kicking.

-Things you may have overlooked or are irrelevant.
*Haste increases auto attack damage more than crit
*Haste increases energy regeneration
*Haste reduces cast time on Regrowth
*Haste “DOSE” reduce GCD on shapeshifting.

Disclaimer: I’m not saying Qucikblade shouldn’t be used as more than a EFC return set and I’m not saying Auroa is for everyone but it can be more useful than you are trying to suggest. Depends how you play.
