How will it all end?

The only job is for you to get everyone who wants to play in this tourney to sign up and give their acknowledgement they are playing to other players so they can keep an eye out for them.

No need to fight this. If people want to afk before the bg starts that's their loss.

Alright. I like it. I will PM you later about some thoughts I have for working out the details and some options to look at

Entire thing is just a hastle ...... Eh I'll settle for mediocrity and just premade when we have the ppl and arena when we don't

Setting up the tourney is the hassle. Once it's set up it won't be a hassle. That's the goal anyway, to make it easy to get teams facing each other. Easy, quick, not complicated. I think it just sounds complicated when we have to make threads asking people how to make it less complicated. But I think it will be worth it

Anyway I gotta go for now guys, but please feel free to add any more suggestions and I'll respond the next time I'm on TI

If your rules don't incorporate some sort of tournament matching like you mentioned before (e.g. everyone faces everyone else a set number of times, that's it) then the tournament would just end up going to whomever had the RL opportunity to queue the most times. The guy who can queue all day and night long, afk from the games he can't win, but keep racking up wins because he can play so much, will win the tournament by time invested, not by skill.

Also need to consider, what if many more teams or individuals sign up from one faction than the other? You're competing against the people on both factions, but you can't actually compete -against- any of the people on your own faction.

Not to single you out but I don't realize why people keep mentioning this..? It has clearly been said a few times that at the end the rating would be divided by the total number of games played. Also I mentioned something that I think would completely take out afks to save ratings.

Well, well isn't this one big mess. Sure is confusing when people are trying to prove a point when they can't talk face to face!

Ok so here's what I have to say. This tournament cannot and will not be perfect:
As organisers, we thought the pre-tournament thread would be a great way for people to add their insight into the "could-go-wrongs", the "Rules", the ranking system and how it would all fit into the the way we like to think about our BG's. The thing is, not every idea and opinion will work together, there are too many variables. Because of this, there will always be a large part of the community who feels unsatisfied with the the final decisions that are made. We can't make the perfect tourney and I'm sorry for that.
But we will try. The only way to fix mistakes is to experience them first-hand. So if you're having doubts about the tourney, just see this as a big ongoing experiment (with prizes). We want this to be fair as much as you do and the only way we might have a chance of reaching that goal is if you're behind us and participate. We want to see you play in competitive games, get better as teams, give each other constructive feedback, meet other f2p's interested in this competitive aspect along the road etc., etc.

This coming Friday the 14th the "official" rules (as of yet) will be released and the tourney will begin. It doesn't have to be too serious, but don't hold back in queueing with a friend or two as your team. The more people that participate, the more we will learn about how to improve. Good luck and see you on Friday
