F2P - No-No Builds

Okay, so im a long-time WoW twink, 29s, 39s, 60s, 70s etc.

Im curious as to whether there are any certain builds in the F2P bracket that just DONT work, and also whether there are some builds

that are just ridiculously OP (if my memory serves me right hunters were always ridicu-op around this level)

I'm also looking for a guild on Aerie Peak [H] for F2P twinking. Message me with details/questions.

Are you specificly talking about specs? IE: Shadow Priests. Balance Druids. Fire Mages..?

There aren't really any specs that don't work, just ones that do not work all that well, or that have a very small niche. Off the top of my head I would say Resto druids, warlocks, warriors, and perhaps elemental shaman are relatively weak in comparison to others.

Strong builds are arcane and frost mages, subtlety rogues, Discipline priests, Restoration Shaman, and even Boomkin (in the right hands).

Paladins (any spec) and Hunters (any spec, though Survival and BM bring the most to the table) are more powerful than any other classes and, especially in the case of the hunter, can devastate the opposition.

If you are playing on a free account, you will be unable to join a guild, however the addons sticky in this forum has a great tool for allowing F2P twinks to talk to eachother on a global channel, and AP has a ton of very active horde players.

VERY useful post, TYVM.

Ask all the mages that switched to fire after the buff just how bad they are!

Fire mages have some reasonably high damage output, but they lack both the mobile damage of Arcane and the control of frost. Fireball and Pyro crits can hit hard, but against any reasonably competent player they just don't bring as much to the table as the other two specs. Big numbers are still big numbers however, and that can be fun to play around with.

Edit for grammar.

Second Edit: Impact Stun can be an absolutely crutch interupt/finisher/ghetto snare, but at a 5% proc rate it is more than a little unreliable. Still, it is a tool available to fire and not mentioning it would be unfair to the spec.

The worst specs in the bracket are Arms Warriors, Demonology Warlocks, Affliction Warlocks, Elemental Shamans, Assassination Rogues, and Fire Mages.

IMO ofc. Do not play any of the above and you won't get too frustrated

Getting soooo tired of everyone thrashing Resto Droods....

Of the four healers they are a distant fourth, with spammable roots and cheetah form being their big advantages. Hots are weak and they lack a quick spammable heal. They aren't garbage and it really comes down to player skill, gear, and positioning, but equal effort on one of the other three would generally yield superior results.

Cheetah form still kicks ass though.

Edit: and after armorying you Beefstock I would say you have a very sexy Rdruid there. Hopefully 5.0 brings you some more balanced game mechanics.

I wouldn't say they are a distant fourth. Fourth yes but imo they would be just fine with a regrowth buff. Rejuv ticks really hard and swiftmend is pretty powerful. They solo run the flag across mid well, of course they cant take 5 hunters but i can get away from one or two with some luck. Beefstock, Bizarre, Ole and I all do pretty well.

edit:

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv OP? @ 85? do you play this game? vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Compared to the disparity between Hpal>Dpriest>Rsham I would still say it is distant, but that is mostly just based on throughput. A good Rdruid would be absolutely clutch in flagroom scenarios where LOS is guaranteed and you can let your HOTs tick a few times, keep hots rolling on your teammates, and root people into bad positions, but in the open I just don't see them being anywhere near as durable as the others.

Of course: Skill > Gear > Class. I am looking forward to seeing you guys make it work.

Ele shaman are not bad at all, decent burst dmg, great utilities, and obviously have great offheals with healing surge.

ur just bad if u cant play one correctly.

same goes for boomkins.
