F2P Mount Directory

TCG mounts are not really F2P, they are trial obtainable but not F2P (big discussion inc.)

This, it's similar to linking your account to a P2P just to get more mounts. Either way you're not pure F2P because you or someone spent money on your account in the process. DK mounts are also grandfathered for those who didn't make one, but I don't want to talk about DKs again.

Meh, not entirely true. The cards can be gifted to you and such. If you buy a nice mouse to play wow, does that mean you aren't F2P anymore? Don't think so...

Gifted means someone else paid for (or stole!?) them and then gave them to you. You can be gifted subscription time too, so are you saying you're not P2P if someone else pays for all your subscription time? Money is still being put into that account even if it's not the owner's money.
Don't try to compare a computer mouse or other external hardware (which could have been free in the first place) with something in game made by Blizzard you know what I mean.

Being pure f2p, to me, means you don't enjoy any of the benefits from upgrading to a p2p or linking. TCG mounts have nothing to do with that. When you link an account, it becomes an appendage of the p2p account. When you redeem a tcg mount you are still a f2p account. And it is like buying some sort of hardware because the tcg game is completely different from the actual game. You can win loot cards and stuff from tcg tournaments and events.

Edit: And i know several people that just sell or give away the loot cards they get since they don't play the actual game as much as the tcg.

The tcg is not totally different from the actual game because the mounts and pets, which you can use to show off in game, count towards achievements. Use whatever mouse you want, you don't get an achievement for using an up to date mouse or whatnot and in game no one can see your mouse. It's not a creation of the game anyway. It doesn't matter if someone just gave you a loot card you are still reaping the benefits of money given to Blizzard for their game, now for that account, which can be seen in game.

You can say we have 3 types of players who use Starter Edition: Pure free to play, starter editions that put money into their accounts (one way or another) but without a linked account, and starter editions who are linked (active subscription or not). The way you categorize them is Subscription (including a past subscription) and non subscription, but just because someone doesn't have a subscription does not mean they are pure free to play, as they may have not done everything for free.

I'd still consider them not pure F2P, because they are creations of the game and in Blizzard's perspective they got money thanks to that account (even if you weren't the one who paid for them). Maybe someone wouldn't have bought it for them if that account didn't exist! Even if not, they could have saved that gift for another account, so there's one less item to buy!

Well most of us know there is no such thing so I'll just leave it there and you can continue with what ever it is that you do when your not bashing people for listing mounts useable by f2ps as useable for f2ps.

Sure there's people who don't use the tcg for extra stuff and haven't gotten any subscription time either, I'm one of them. I was just agreeing with what someone said earlier.

Would you consider Precious Ribbon to be unpure aswell as getting it would require you to put money in blizzards pocket?

It does? Well maybe it was supposed to, but right now I don't think it does. They must not care that much if they haven't fixed it yet though. If they do, it will become a GFed pure F2P item!
