F2P Monk Gear

So I've done some thinking.

After playing with multiple healers, I've confirmed that it is possible to oom from consistent healing while in combat. MW's heals are all instant cast through soothing mist, which means they can pump out their Flash of Light faster than any other spec. On top of that, every time they use Surging Mist(their flash of light) it will generate Chi. After two Surging mists they can cast Enveloping Mist, which is their healing over time ability.

Seeing how their spells and abilities are all instant casts, haste does little-to-nothing for their healing output. But seeing how MW's can generate on-demand healing burst, I believe stacking spirit>crit>stam/int will be the way to go. I can do more testing later on, but I think a reoccurring issue with healers in BGs is they can't keep up with the damage that's being produced so very rarely do they ever oom unless they can keep up the damage; which will lead to consistent healing which leads to OOM-age.

But since MW's will be able to keep up with the damage, I think stacking spirit will be the way to go since you most likely will OOM very quickly in a longer-scale fight.

Will give more info when servers are done resetting.

How long is long?

How long is long?

Simply put, an elongated fight.

Mistweavers can use up their mana faster than any other healer because they can instant cast their Flash of Light(surging mist) through soothing mist(channeled heal). That being said, it may be worth stacking spirit if you are frequently running OOM, as a mistweaver, in fights that are being elongated.

You can also use this to your advantage, since you are burning through your mana(but thank goodness you are stacking spirit); this will also mean you are generating a lot of chi. You can spread quite a few Enveloping Mists(HoTs) to your team.

Of course I haven't finished my Mistweaver set, so I have no idea if any of this is true. <(Q_Q<)

Rop just might be VERY farmable :)

Its not confirmed, but the near 1% drop chance from the murloc guys are great to hear, considering this is a newly updated item info in wowhead. (it was previously listed no longer available)

I agree i've been stacking spirit in as much as I can and I agree the only prob with mw is the fact that they can oom in a big a long battle and the fact that the heals are so good Im glad it has a a little crutch because that mean it will never get touched on with a nerf in the near future for awhile.

Also whe nyou get your boa's your heals are just going to be unstoppable unless you get interrupted by a rogue, mage, or shammy but I guess there is alway time to learn how to cancel cast trick people.

GL on your future MW monk hope to see you in future battles!

While waiting for DMF to pop, MW Monks can make due with Novice's Staff - Item - World of Warcraft, which although isn't BiS, actually pretty close.

Another interesting thing I didn't know is the Monk-only vendor consumables. Brewmaster Chang sells Novice's Serpent Brew - Item - World of Warcraft and Novice's Tiger Brew - Item - World of Warcraft, both of which provide an insane stat boost Well Fed buff for 60 minutes.

So far I really like the healing throughput of my MW Monk, but it's survivability vs all the ferals and rogues is complete trash. With a trinket I'd be able to survive a bit more, but once that cd is spent it's pretty much game over.

WoWhead has that staff available for all healers - do you think we can fly ourselves to get it? I got stuck in Peak of Serenity on my hunter and it was right there

The blue staves you can use with other classes, assuming you can get to the peak. The green one I linked is "Classes: Monk" restricted.

Unrelated: I've been really enjoying Mistweaver spec, but sad that the Fistweaver playstyle is so weak. I haven't really found a way to raise Attack Power. I experimented a bit, but since WoD none of the other stats do anything for MW. Then I looked through the higher up spells in the spellbook aaaaand discovered this: Focus and Harmony - Spell - World of Warcraft

Fuck. So basically bliz designed a perfect way to scale up AP for fistweaving, but decided to limit it to L45+. /groan
