Most of you will know this, of course.
This short list might clear up any confusion as to which heirloom items you may transmogrify ("mog") on any of your level 20 characters.
Confusion apparently arises due to some classes being able to equip the heirlooms that are of the superior armor type these classes get access to at level 40. These heirlooms' armor will be scaled to the armor type of the character and are not transmogrifiable at level 20.
You may only mog the same armor (or weapon) type into each other.
Once you use an item as a transmog model, it becomes unrefundable.

WEAPON
Any heirloom weapon your class can equip can be mogged to any other transmogrifiable weapon of the same weapon type (that uses the same slots: One-/Two-/Main-/Off-Hand), including other heirloom weapons.
You may now mog Guns, Bows and Crossbows into each other. Examples here.
You may mog a One-Hand weapon onto both a Main- or Off-Hand weapon.
You may not however mog a Main-Hand weapon onto a One- or Off-Hand weapon, or an Off-Hand weapon onto a One- or Main-Hand weapon.
Darkmoon Hammer is now suitable for transmogrification.
Thanks to Stamm, solvogero, Punnishers and xatruch for pointing out important things to add!
