[Event Cancelled][CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Kincaide

Legend
Sorry all, due to unforeseen real-life circumstances this event is being postponed indefinitely. I'm leaving the text up so that I can revive it if there's ever an opportunity in the future, but as of now, it cannot be.

Welcome to Double Agent Saga, a themed series of World PVP cross-realm events with a common premise and storyline.

The Double Agent Saga storyline centers around pandaren twin sisters, Jiàndié and Pàntú, who decide to capitalize on their race's invitation into both the Horde and Alliance factions by getting into the spy-for-hire game. They spy and sell secrets for both sides, but their allegiance remains to Pandaria and to their own family above all else.

All F2P characters from all US realms will be welcome to participate in this series of events, though signup spaces will be limited.

Scenario 1 of the Double Agent Saga series is called Traitor Eliminator! The DA sisters have uncovered major plans, and intend to sell them to one faction for a huge sum, and get out of the spy business. For one faction, this will mean a major advantage in the continuing struggle between the Horde and Alliance, and they will protect that information with their lives! For the other faction, the information would be a devastating blow, and thus the traitor must be found before she can deliver the information, and must be eliminated at all costs!

As with all of the Double Agent Saga scenarios, this scenario utilizes the ruins of The Scarlet Enclave. The general objective of Traitor Eliminator is to find and kill the Double Agent as quickly as possible. Each faction will have a designated starting point on the map. One faction will be given three opportunities to eliminate the spy while the other one protects and defends her, and the best time will be noted. Then, roles will swap and the other faction will be given three tries to beat the first faction's best time. The winner is whichever team ends up with the best time after six total skirmishes.

The Double Agent sisters themselves will be played by me for both factions to ensure equality. They are LEVEL 12 rogues, equally geared in vendor whites. They are spies, not full fledged heroes such as yourselves! Therefore the defenders will have to come up with the best strategies for keeping their Double Agent alive as long as possible. The Double Agent will follow the commands and instructions of their respective faction defense leaders as much as possible, and they will be played in such a way that their own self-preservation is their utmost highest goal.

Here's how this is going to go to get this event started. I'm going to handle things a little different than you've seen them done before, based on observations of what does and does not work.

Step 1: Participant Signup

Signups for the event will open immediately. Please note that it has not been determined yet how many total participants will be going, nor what the group role makeup will be. At this point I am not signing up characters, I am signing up participants. After posting your TI name to sign up, link the character name/race/class and armory you want to sign up with. If you are signing up with more that one character (which will give leaders flexibility in roles) then just include them after your TI name, like this:

Kincaide -
Kincaide, human arms warrior : Xiuying, pandaren BM hunter.

Please only include up to TWO maximum characters. I'm not going to determine the exact total number of participants until I see how many people sign up, but I'm shooting for approximately 20v20. This will be decided later, as explained in Part 2 below.

Participants will be expected to be able to get themselves to Light's Hope Chapel. It is the closest flight point to the battlefield, and of course I hope to have folks with 2-seater flyers to help ferry people over the mountains from there. You can run through the tunnel or through Tyr's Hand if you want, but you'll die several times and no one wants that. If you don't have the flight point to LHC yet, I recommend you get it. It's not too hard, and we will not be picking people up from any other location.

Step 2: Choose Faction Leaders

I will announce before signups close, and once they do, each faction will have to choose a leader from among their participants. Those leaders will have to work together to agree on their recommendations for group composition, max number of a given class, etc. When the two leaders agree, they'll give me their recommendations, but the final decision will be mine, so that if the two faction leaders can't agree, I will still be able to put on an event. The participants should tell the leaders what they want, and then the leaders will work with each other and pass that along to me.

The faction leaders will also be the person to whom the Double Agent sisters will listen to for instruction during the battles.

Step 3: Event Day

My current target day for the event is Saturday, May 25th, 12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern. Everyone will be expected to be at LHC a half hour before the event AT THE LATEST, as we will NOT be able to pick up stragglers. As soon as both teams are assembled, I plan on having both teams cross-realm-jump to another server, known only to me, to virtually eliminate the possibility of interference. Obviously, as with all CRWPvP events, I will need the help of P2Ps with 2-seaters to get the event started. If you are willing to help, please PM me privately. I give public kudos to helpful friends.

I think that covers everything for now. I will update this post and also post in the thread alerting to changes to this post as they come up. If you have questions, please feel free to ask here. I hope everyone will have a great time, and remember this is only the first of several scenarios I have planned for this setting.

Love the idea, sadly, I'm from the EU :(

Did you have any interference at the Southshore event? (ganking 90s etc)
How would you set it up that, even with your secret event-realm, nobody else will show up IF there was interference last time?

There was a small amount of interference last time. The Scarlet Enclave is the starting zone for DKs, and nobody has any reason to go there: if you're a DK, you're phased, and if you're not a DK, it's a useless patch of land on the edge of the world. The phasing, combined with a number of interesting terrain features, make it very appealing as a battleground. I spent a fair amount of time running around there with Kincaide to get a good sense of the battlefield, and I think people will be impressed by the scenarios I came up with there.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Since my exploring adventures I've gotten to know quite a few places perfect for events like king of the hill (think most of them lack spirit healers.

Examples would be the ridge in southern Wetlands. The enclosed area in northwest Stonetalon Mountains, the area that appear as peaks on the map in western Dun Morogh.

Those are the ones I can think of right now but send me a PM and I can probably give more examples.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Based on the extreme success of the southshore pvp event, I think we have something really fantastic brewing up here. One question though, is a level 12 rogue in whites the best option for the proposed battle scenario? I understand the opposing teams have to find and kill the double agents but they should at least be 20 with moderate gear so they could be healed, kinda like an AV or IoC kind of thing.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Assuming you level 12 rogue can get to 1k hp, and a priest is bubbling it, thats still only an effective 2k hp. once the bubble is down and 2-3 dps are present it's game over no matter the amount of healers. unless you can manage some boss mode CC.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Like I said, you'll have to develop strategies for keeping them alive as long as possible. I'm not going to give y'all ideas, but one logical way would be to keep enemies from getting anywhere near her.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Since this has such a long planning or organizing time is there anyway you could make it 10 per team and split it up into 2 groups? Lag was a big problem for southshore for me personally as well as alot of other people and I highly doubt just decreasing it from 50 to 40 people will fix that. All you would need would be 4 p2p and 4 leaders instead of 2 p2p and 2 leaders. Just a thought or more-so a question

That is negotiable, yes. I think the idea scales well to several different sizes. As far as trying to essentially coordinate two simultaneous events, however, I don't think I want that kind of headache. Plus I can't participate in more than one match at a time, and I'm playing the Double Agents so that both sides will feel the performance is fair. If it's reduced to a 10v10, it will be only one 10v10.

I of course hope that you'll still be able to participate, but I'll have to go with whatever is best for the masses... in other words if there are more than 40 people wanting to play, it's going to be 20v20 so that the most people can play. On the other hand however, keep in mind that we're going to be playing in a small zone with zero mobs and NPCs, nor even any critters, and thus less for your system to keep up with. It may not be as bad as Southshore for you.

At this point I'm not seeing any conversation about the factions choosing leaders. Remember that that's required to be settled before the 9th so we can move forward.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

I feel like you should have people sign up first than choose leaders. Cant just go around picking someone who isn't interested, makes no sense.

I think you have a valid point. Let me give it some thought on how I can make that work, and I'll modify the original post. Help me out here: the reason I put it in that order is because those leaders would be the ones to determine, for example, how many healers each side can have. If people sign up first, then the number of healers would already be chosen. Can you think of a way around that problem?

Just have the people signing up understand that they are not guarantied a spot. If too many healers signed up, the last ones that signed up (excluding if one of them was chosen as a leader) get cut. Then you can open up those spots to more dps if you need too. Also, you can have people sign up with two different rolls. Most people have many characters and can sign up for a heal and dps roll; linking both of their characters to you. Based on what is needed and decided on by the leaders, they will be assigned one once the time comes around. As long as you are strict about first come first serve, there shouldn't be too many issues.

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

This event reminds me of Statego somewhat. Best of luck :)

Re: [CRZ WPvP] Double Agent Saga, Scenario 1: Traitor Eliminator!

Sorry to tell you guys but, as I have indicated on the first post of the thread, real life circumstances will prevent me from being able to do this event for the foreseeable future. Since nobody has signed up yet, I figure that's not going to hurt a lot of people.
