Enormous Bullfrog Farm

Ammonite

Veteran
I got hit with a dungeon lockout, so I decided to make a video showcasing the route I made through Razorfen Kraul on my demon hunter.

Why RFK? Because of the rarespawn Enormous Bullfrog. It has a high chance to drop an assortment of BOE blue items (most are only good for transmog) and a couple of frog pets.

The reason I’m here is for the https://www.wowhead.com/item=791/gnarled-ash-staff?bonus=6659, which I want to test out on my feral druid. The problem with running the dungeon directly on my druid is that there’s a mandatory boss fight before the bullfrog (and it takes forever). Each run on the demon hunter only takes about 3-minutes.

I've gotten a few neat-ish items scaled to 20 (ilvl 27) so far, including https://www.wowhead.com/item=2877/combatant-claymore?bonus=6659, https://www.wowhead.com/item=13033/zealot-blade?bonus=6659, and https://www.wowhead.com/item=13137/ironweaver?bonus=6659

I hope you find it interesting.

The gear is pretty much all socketed Outlands blues with 2 agi/2 stam gems. So decent and attainable.

The spawn rate is really high actually. It's appeared 12/13 times I've ran the dungeon between two characters. The run where it didn't spawn I might have just forgotten to reset the dungeon. Out of the 10 kills on my DH I've gotten eight unique blues, and two frog boxes.

what are frog boxes?

If you aren't a dh with the glide jump, I outlined another (more cheaty) way of doing a soloing a run on any char here. Hopefully the quote works.

As promised here is the super special cheesy route for farming the frog for your very own zealot blade!

Step 1: clear mobs up until here

step 2: walk until you see this tree
View attachment 18648

step 3: walk up said tree until you clip the area circled
View attachment 18649

step 4: be flung into the air like so
View attachment 18650

step 5: clear rock dude and proceed to bridge
View attachment 18651

step 6: clear up to the barrier but DO NOT kill the bat boss
View attachment 18652

step 7: hug the corner like so before placing the seesaw
View attachment 18653

step 8: if done correctly seesaw should look as follows

View attachment 18654

step 9: click on seesaw and get off while strafing the opposite direction you think you're holding
View attachment 18655

step 10: barriers are really only a suggestion right?
View attachment 18656

step 11: proceed onto bossView attachment 18657

step 12: Slowly die inside

then just attack the other frogs, die, and be ported back to the start.

Its really easy to farm on hunter, you just harpoon to Charlga, run to the frog room and Ring/F.D.
I had to harpoon to the bat and run back since I wasn't killing myself, so was 2x Apect of Cheetah per run.
But if you're farming subbed for extra iLVL DH is probably the way to go.

I didn't know you could use seesaw like that. That's an awesome method, especially if you've got a druid that can just stealth past all the mobs and drop mandatory combat with shadowmeld/bloodthorn loop.

Just when I thought I couldn't dislike DHs anymore...
...then you TOTALLY REDEEM the class!
:FrogeTorch:

I may or may not have made one... to do this...

The worst part about playing DH is going back to a class that doesn't have a double jump :)

If you haven't seen it, Alkazar made a cool video showcasing some methods for solo farming the best BC socket gear. It's what I used to get my https://www.wowhead.com/item=28339/boots-of-the-shifting-sands?bonus=6710

this is excellent!

and also if you're playing a rogue, you can use the vanish ring and stealth to avoid the rock golem or just shadowstep it in stealth, and just shadowstep to the nearest toad so you don't need the seesaw.

Thanks for the great tip! Just a quick question. I go to the spot where you die and let mobs kill me, but it sends me back to the room with the bats. How are you getting ported to the start? I feel it's something obvious and I'm just not seeing it lol

If you kill the bat boss outside where the sound walls are, it'll port you to the area with the last boss that you killed. If you just kill the frog you won't have killed any of the bosses and be ported back to the start

Gotcha! Thanks for the info

I'm taking a beating from the big frog guy and my DH is fully talasited. Am I missing something or just bad?

Are you trying it it as Havoc or Vengeance? I'm always tank spec when I run it. Some things that might help:
  • Use Demonic Spikes to increase your armor
  • Use Fiery Brand to reduce incoming damage from a single target
  • Don't stand in the frog's poison cloud
  • Set your Chromie Time to the present (if you're not in present time then dungeon bosses have more HP and hit harder, which might extend to the frog, but haven't checked that mob specifically)
I've never tried running full talasites, but having the extra agility from the gems seems valuable (my gems alone give 51 agility). More damage, more dodge chance, more healing, and I've never struggled too much staying alive in PvE.
