So...
Honestly DF lore is not that bad although very lackluster in several areas.
Can someone tell me, why was budget Deathwing (Farrak) the final antagonist? And why did they recycle Deathwing? They legit reused the Shadow flame corruption gimmick on what is otherwise a lackluster rehash.
Okay so Fyrakk is basically a side boss lore-wise. Iridikron (the earth Primalist we see get out with the shadow artifact) used him to try and get rid of us or at the very least make us lose time while he goes on his own plan. The shadowflame thing is basically Iridikron telling Fyrakk "Hey this is highly corruptive but it's strong so take it and go nuts mate" and while I agree it feels kinda lazy it does somewhat makes sense with them finding Deathwing's lab and all.
But yeah to put it simple Fyrakk is not even the "final boss" amongst the main antagonists of the expansion and the fact that they saved Iridikron for later is a very good idea in my opinion cuz he sure as hell is a better villain than Fyrakk which fells like "evil dragon 2.0" despite having some cool unique features (that axe tho).
And why is the last ever cinematic in Dragonflight a Soap opera where all the character's dialogue feels so off? WHY DID THEY EARN BACK THEIR IMMORTALITY IF THEY LOST IT FOR THE SAKE OF THE NEXT GENERATIONS OF MORTALS IN CATACLYSM??!?!?!111
I can't give them excuses on that. Best I can do is Cata's ending already made little sense, their powers and immortality did not even feel like they were gone and them regaining them is neat. BUT. The reason they gave is ass, the cinematic being "the power of friendship" makes no fucking sense and what could have been a cinematic with Fyrakk going absolutely berserk with aspects taking him down became... this. This cinematic is bad. I'm not gonna say worse than SL one but still.
And why is the Ice lady on our side??
Another thing that does not fully make sense. Vyranoth disagreed with Iridikron and Fyrakk so with the first gone and the other falling in madness she felt like her fight and values were not respected (but like, did she not spent thousands of years imprisonned, did that not gave her the slightest bit of extremism). With that it sort of makes sense that she'd leave Fyrakk's side. Joining the aspects tho ? Not so sure about it, they imprisoned her and they represent the very thing she wants to destroy. Let's admit she just teams up to stop Fyrakk because she only wants to free the world from the titan and not leave it destroyed in the process (which also makes sense), WHY DOES SHE STAY WITH US IN THE END ?? So again, some reasoning by Blizz but not all the way through.
And why is Malfurion missing in action every time there is trouble anywhere?? Saurfang's Axe made a mark on him??
Damn straight out boy Saurfang messed him up. More seriously free Malfurion. While the fact that there is a price to pay to get out of the Shadowlands makes sense I have two things to say. First, why is that to Malfurion to pay it for Ysera and second why would Ysera (the god dammed DREAM Aspect) need to pay anything to get to the dream. I mean I'm alwayq happy to see Ysera, her and her daughter were quite well written into the xpac but damn... give Malfurion a break. It was litteraly the Druid patch and we don't even see the most iconic Druid ever.
Overall DF lore is quite decent because there is so many world-building side quests, some with very very little stakes and this is amazing. The story through cinematics is fairly good too except the end, that one was bad.
While to be honest, coming out of SL would make the N'Zoth story in BFA look like LOTR, DF has some very good points for itself and I personnaly can't wait to see what they make of Iridikron (and Xal'atath too, develop on her and make her last more than an xpac as a main threat).
