WoW -> Test Realm Patch Notes

War is an experience that few would choose to have in their lifetimes, and yet, in Azeroth, it is the way of the world as the Horde and Alliance continue to struggle against each other even as more imminent dangers split their focus. It is this experience that forges the novice into the hardened veteran and drives them onward to fame and glory. In Call of the Crusade, the opportunity to gain experience through war will become a reality.

With the upcoming content patch, players will be able to gain experience within the Battlegrounds for completing objectives and actions that yield honor in them. These objectives include (but are not limited to) capturing flags in Warsong Gulch, gaining resources in Eye of the Storm or Arathi Basin, or taking objectives in Alterac Valley. Player level will also affect the amount of experience that can be gained within the battleground.

For those that would like to opt out of gaining experience while in the battleground, you will be able to visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar – both located near the battlemasters in either city – and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold. Players with experience gains turned off who compete in Battlegrounds will face off only against other players with experience gains turned off. Behsten and Slahtz can reinstate experience gains for players, for a 10 gold fee of course. Any experience that would’ve been accumulated if experience gains were not turned off cannot be recovered.

EDIT:
Q: If these players disable the ability to gain experience, will this apply to PvE content as well?

Cory Stockton: Yes, this option will apply to PvE content as well as PvP.

!!!

so basically the scrubs can't be in our bgs anymore unelss they opt to play with the twinks....? I think that is a good change and should allow more twink on twink fight instead of scrubs on twinks.

Community Team: Given that gaining experience through PvP game play is a rather substantial addition to the World of Warcraft leveling process, there is bound to be some concern among players that enjoy staying at a particular level to participate only in specific level brackets of the Battlegrounds, otherwise known as “twinking.”

Q: Do these players still have an avenue to remain at a level of their choosing while still being able to engage in PvP combat?

Cory Stockton: Yes, players will have access to a new option that will allow them to turn off experience gain in PVP. This option also ensures that you will only be matched against other players that have set the same switch. Players can activate this option by talking to new NPCs, Behsten and Slahtz, near the Battlemasters in Orgrimmar or Stormwind. This new ability will cost 10 gold to turn on or off each time.

That right there is incredible. We can now literally stay at x9 bracket and if new items come out never be able to get xp while running battlegrounds. This is a monumental change that I have been hoping for quite some time to happen.

Pity that blizz seem to still be letting twinks fight in the non twink bg, as long as they don't cap flags they seem to be safe enough... a large oversight imo.

generally its twinks scoring the flags, so unless they want to lose or have 2 hour long wsg...most will find it boring rather quickly IMO (or mabye the flag cap exp is counted towards all the team members, but the capper gets more than the others?)

Posted this in the 10-19 for anyone who didn't read it here but i just found this on MMOchamp and died a little...

Warsong Gulch

There is a now a 20 minute timer on this battleground. After that time, the team with the most flag captures wins. If this would result in a tie, the team that captured the first flag wins. If neither side has captured a flag, then the game ends in a tie.

This is official and for me (who like's longer games) this sucks :( But oh well it won't make me quit WSG altogether.

Shwweeeeet!!

So I am just copy-pasting this from my post in the front page, but here's my thoughts!

The main thing in this that caught my eye is the last bit.

“Q: If these players disable the ability to gain experience, will this apply to PvE content as well?

This means soooooo much!!!!!!!!!! No more XP from discovering zones, no more XP from being run through instances. No more getting killed by Doan in SM for a chance at his ring.

I am also assuming this “turn of XP” stuff will apply to quests… Meaning at 19, if you do the Battle of Hillsbrad chain, you still have the entire level to do what ever you want - No more “o shit I have 2 rested bars until I level” stuff. Players can now do EVERY POSSIBLE QUEST available to them without worrying about dining! Including daily quests I would presume. This means when world events roll around, you don’t have to worry about getting XP from doing them on your twink - More achievement points anyone?

This also probably means no XP from discovery? No more “Oh look the BG bugged and dropped me off in BEM where I leveled because I only had 200 xp till level 20″ And…more “the Explorer” titles inc for old school twinks?

This is a MASSIVE change to the world of twinking in sooooo many ways, there is no reason for people to level anymore, no reason why you can’t farm SM 500 times for you ring and have to die each time. It also means you can farm/grind stuff on your twink forever if you’re after something - ie. level 49 twinks trying to get exalted with Timbermaw but don’t want to rely on others to kill stuff for them while they are dead?

This change is HUGE in so, so many ways - and I for one am extremely excited about it. This is going to twist our world like a pretzel, while still keeping the foundation so we do not crumble!

-note-Sorry about the rant…I am just MAJORLY EXCITED!!!

Merged these threads as we don't need 5 of them.

lol /agreed but you do have to admit naturaltalnt that this is game breaking, and blizzard finally did something that all twinks will be happy about.

Battlemasters for specific Battlegrounds will still be seen around the cities during corresponding Battleground holiday weekends.
