I think Windbreaker meant that chests no longer spawn there after completing the quest chain. I've opened a bunch of chests there on alliance characters, never seen one on a horde char. I'm starting to think myself that once the zone is instanced as empty, chests can't be seen there anymore.
 
It's rather difficult to determine whether you cannot see chests because you have completed the quests or if there is just no chests there when you check. As for coordinates, I do not use a coordinate addon and i'm not particularly inclined to add them. If someone else would like to contribute I would of course add them.

Aren't the guards level 30 on the sludge fields? I haven't tried to get any of my level 20 alliance toons in there.
 
Ok here is a list of chest coordinates in Hillsbrad Foothills (24) for the Addon GatherMate2. I know you can use GatherMate2Data but these are up to date (Patch 5.3) and include some that are missing in the data pack. Be sure to check out "Southwest spawn by the Dalaran Crater" in the screenshost, because that one is still missing. Maybe someone can provide it. The coordinates are found in:

I found a chest spawn in the Ruins of Alterac area that isn't in the guide. The ruined tower to the north had a chest in it. Never see it before but I never looked there before. Next time I make the circle I'll get coordinates.
 
a chest still spawns behind eric davidson in the duskwood gy. i thought i read somewhere that there was some doubt about that
 
Very nice guide skimmed through it. I would also like to note that you can farm Gnomeregan chests (There is always 3 in there, sometimes locked so bring a rogue or blast it open ;p) I've gotten Brawler's, Silver-Lined Belt, and a few other items of the same level, which would mean you can get other notable items such as Magician's Mantle, Drakewing Bands, etc.

**This is if you're farming chests on a p2p**
 
just want to clarify something. is it possible for an f2p alliance to farm chests in stonetalon? this is horde territory isn't it? thanks

Much appreciated. I'm no longer playing in the bracket, however, so I will most likely not be updating this guide unless things change a lot or something brings me back to the bracket.

It is possible, certainly as a protadin armed with hit rating in every slot (though it's about as difficult as chest farming in Arathi Highlands). As for territory, I'm very sure it's contested, as there's Alliance flight paths and inns in that zone.
 
I haven't found a chest since the patch hit. I even went back to look on the relatively dead realms that I have toons on. Do they spawn sometime after the reset/patch or did Blizz take our chests away?

NVM, they must spawn hours after the restart.

Chests are on a timer that does not reset with the server. Happy hunting :)

They do reset sadly. Everything resets after a realm restart. Herbs/Rares , even chests. I had a character on every chest place, (My bros account + enios account + mine), and i tried to kill a rare Directly whenthe server restart /shutdown was over and there were no chests/rares/mines/herbs etc! So they do! And i reccoment NOT TO chestfarm directly after a Restart/Shutdown. Do it after 6-8 hours , you wont be dissapointed ^_^!
