Class Burst Damage Defined?

Funny, then that means warlocks in the 39 brackets are a lot more powerfull or "OP" then any hunters, yet all i hear about in all brackets are how "OP" hunters are in every god damn brackets. are you implying that everyone is wrong and that hunters are far from being th ebest and most powerfull class at 39 ?

if so then that would be the very first time in a 3 year span that i hear that. that would be the most exalting thing i ever heard about then. finally a class better then hunter. that surely would be a first to this forum. as for the life at 39, whats the biggest health pool then ? go ahead enlighten me. for i couldn't see a warlock ticks for even 2k a tick. with all this said... i do play in the 39 bracket, and warlocks aren't that hard to kill, nor that hard to survive to. but i must admit that from every classes int he 39 bracket the difference in power is quite higher then the 29 bracket.

back onto the thread now...

hunters have auto-attack in there, but besides that, yeah their burst is quite small to begin with. and if you had fears and stuns, then the hunters burst is probably one of the lowest you can see. With rogues and paladins being a bit higher then them.

heres what i was using most often to start a fight.

Sperpent Sting > Auto-Attack > Arcane Shot > Multi-shot > Auto attack

thats going a bit more then 3 seconds though. more like 5.

never used my priest for burst, so i can't say...

but if i had to guess, i'm going like this.

SW:p > Mind Blast > Smite

that would be it.

The best burst damage I could squeeze out of a Hunter was while specced Trap Mastery, Savage Strikes and Glyphed for Immolation Trap and equipping a Wolf Pet while on Flag Room Defense. I could get 60+ damage per Immolation Tick that way and would often kill off 900-1.1k targets within 5 seconds of initiating combat while synchronizing my first attacks (Mongoose Bit/Raptor Strike) with the first tick from Immolation Trap before moving to range for a Multi-Shot/Auto-Shot. Usually used Serpent Sting while running up to melee Range of the target... that said it's a build built specifically for maximum burst damage over ranged DPS and many people simply laugh "Lawl-Melee-Hunter" anyways. By synchronizing your burst combo with your DoT ticks, you can extend your Burst Kill Range by getting in 2 ticks in a 3 second burst rather than just the one.

I'd like to suggest that there could also exist a "Personal Burst Opportunity" (On a target you are already working on) and a Complimentary burst opportunity, or something someone else is working on that you choose to introduce your burst damage to. Because my Hunter's Melee Burst is reliant on On Next Swing mechanics and a 3.8 speed 2H, I've prefered using my Burst Potential to compliment someone else's damage.

Now, a rogue aiming to use an Ambush reliant combo is not likely to get a 5 point evisc in their burst window due to how Combo Points are designed and because vanish is not available... so they'd have an "From Stealth Burst" a "Non-Stealthed Burst" and a "I Can't Believe you let me Restealth with all those juicy Combo Points" Burst.

As a warrior your most highest and probably also most realistic burst-combo would be something in lines hs-op-tc-hs + 1-2 rend ticks or as the before mentioned op-hs-tc-rend tick.

Hs-op-tc-hs+ 1 tick with my arena gear (295ap with shout, arcanite reaper), asuming 25% armor, without crusader would be average of 560 or so. With crusader the same combo is something like 750. This is with 27% crit chance. Numbers are a bit rounded down, potentially you could get off a lot more. For example everything critting and 2 rend ticks would be 900ish without crusader and 1200is with. Thats quite a bit dmg over 4 secs. Tho getting of a combo like this is quite rare since you wont have that much rage floating around unless your really trying to set it up.

Op-hs-tc+1 tick, which happens a bit more often, is on average something like 400 without crusader and 550is with it.

Very quick and half-arsed calculations but you get the picture.

I guess if you can do as much damage as someones lifeblood in the same amount of time that might also be considered burst
