Camel's back (Blizz dropped the straw)

Hello all, this'll be fairly short.

Going into this patch, I expected the dps hit, the talent hit, etc, and knew some tmog changes were coming but hadn't looked into it.

Turns out, I should've looked into that, because while some may find the new system works well for them, it has destroyed the final thing I actually enjoyed in this game besides parkour. No more cloth tmog for DH, (including grandfathered pieces) no more switching out different tmogged items from my bags, all gone. And the new outfit slots that can be changed on the go just can't replace it.

I was willing to hit like a wet noodle and lose soloability, I was willing to have Blizz take away my toys over time, but this is too much. I spent yesterday and most of today trying to fix my outfits, spent roughly 300k gold, then finally stopped, stepped back, and realized the system I enjoyed is gone. Throwing gold at it won't fix anything. It's not just the lack of swapping that did it, it's that now, because I don't gold grind while f2p, Blizzard has managed to make any tmog collecting a thing of the past, meaning outfits may as well not exist.

This is just the latest and hardest hitting blow from a company who are obviously not making a game for players like myself, and haven't for a long time. 20s used to be fun because it was a challenge to see how much we could get and how far we could go, but I guess it's my turn to echo the sentiments of others in that Blizz is winning the war on f2p, least for me.

I'm done with them.

Nothing they could do at this point would fix it, because it isn't any one thing, it's become everything.

I started doing this in 2021 because I just wanted to be able to see the different places within the world, (of warcraft) and I can get that elsewhere without dealing with the constant headache which is Blizz.
For everyone continuing to press on, I salute you. You all deserve better from this game.

Prob will check in on occasion as I enjoy these forums and putting what knowledge I have to use, but if I play wow again, it'll probably be private servers.

The transmog prices might end up changing (for whatever reason, for a short while, I could transmog a whole outfit for less than 100 gold, then later it went back up to over 1000).

I agree that it sucks that there's restrictions on transmogging off-class gear now, as I did transmog Alliance specific appearances on heirlooms and had some of my Horde characters use those; wish they'd just get rid of those, it's not like there's been any visual theming for the classes for the longest time anyways. Not being able to transmog other gear types really makes my TWing sets really ugly.

I do see some of the strength of the new system as you can sort of have different layering of appearances, and have them on your hotbar for quick swapping. Main use would be for like weapon appearance swapping. Not that I've played around with the system that much, it's just too expensive to play around with it extensively ATM.

Though frankly it's still a missed opportunity, wish they did automatic appearances for combat and non-combat; then you could do something like automatically put on a helmet when combat starts up.

we truly never got any good info on the new midnight expac transmog system, the youtubers etc who covered it are going to suck what ever blizz did, and to some point did not really test the system that was actually going live. other than looky i'm pippy long stocking in a raid, dungeon, PVP, here, there and i can flip.

i have a level 10 war, as with all my low level tmogs were undone, it has saved sets one requires 1055 G to use, one that i was using 1705g to use. third one 1536g to use. to flip between the three requires a first 100g outfit slot, second 200g, not sure what third would be. i only bought first thinking i could redo my mog

if you have a mog on your high level and just want to change a wpn on a outfit, from the complaints i saw and if i understood right, they have to add another outfit or repay for redoing a whole as if new?

Transmogs basically have a high upfront cost, but then are 'free' afterwards.

The lefthand side are the outfits you can have, and "Outfit Slots" are unlocked for all of your characters. Each outfit can be given an icon and a name, and be dragged onto your action bars. If you have more than one outfit setup, you can swap between them freely just by clicking the button; zero cost.

When setting up a new outfit you have an option to select "Ignore Slot" for a piece of armor. What this achieves is being able to change only part of a different outfit you've setup. So with the example of weapons if Outfit #1 transmogs everything, Outfit #2 might only change the weapons; so if you click on Outfit #1, then Outfit #2 you'll have different weapons with the same armor appearance (this will save you gold if you only want to partially change the look of another outfit.)

The "custom sets" tab is basically all of your previous transmog appearances that you setup before the patch. You can still setup new custom sets to save a 'preview' a new outfit before dumping a lot of gold to commit to it.

system is trash, i will wait for trial of style to do free mogs, till then all my players will look old school with mixed gear dumpster dive appearance we had before tmogging

Dogshit transmog system for sure lmao, it was working fine, why did they change it again? And it costs so much, why not just... Save the outfit for 1 gold or whatever the previous mog price was

Or better yet just allow you to change it like GW2 or use some item like FFXIV

I think the logic used was "It's annoying for people to have to transmog every time they get a new piece of gear, so we'll just transmog the equipment slot instead of the gear." Which does make sense, but what's really making it a PITA is them deciding to make the whole thing a massive gold sink.

Wish you the best Dev. It sounds like you already had one foot out the door anyways then this happened and that finally finished the job.

I personally am keeping the game installed as I expect a free weekend to come up during the prepatch like it has the previous 2 or 3 now. Of course saying that out loud could leave me looking like an idiot when it doesn't happen. But I want to do one last go through my chars to clear out stuff and consolidate down to just a handful for both NA and EU, sending the rest off the the spirit healers for good. I'm not going to say I will leave retail for good, but one way or another I need a break and this is as good a time as any to take it.

I can understand the sentiment to quit or go on extended break.

The tmog system really needs it own in-game tutorial seeing how complex it is. Bliz managed to turn something of years' worth of very minor annoyance-over-time, & err.. Swiftmend it into a upfront major annoyance x 50 charges. :p

They did just make a statement on it. Doesn't allay much on the cost, but Artifact Weapon fix is on way. Hopefully, they will revert the off-class tmog restriction in same patch or sometime soon.

New transmogrification system is cool) And now there something to spend gold on! Now I need to figure out how to make it look good and so that I dont show off my bare butt.

there still a way to xmog wrong-class armor, or is my pallys cloth circle of flame not getting its nat drinking hat look back if i log into him

Doesn't look like it, you can't even hide the gear.
Basically any gear that had any existing transmog on it has been wiped clean.

next time wait few days.
