BiS Resto shaman

No need to get mad bro, you don't HAVE to be hit capped as a healer. Being short 1 hit as a dranei is fine.

Heals don't miss breh

Heals don't miss. But resto shaman is an offensive healer. Offensive spells can miss. If you want to play it to the most of it's potential, hit capping is crucial. This is about BiS, not being "fine". Next in line please.

I'd still take the shield but argue all you want you've made valid points

What it comes down to is how you play. Truth is if I were to be sitting in WSG all day healing I would hands down go with the shield. You end up with a much larger mana pool in the end. When playing an effective resto sham though hit matters a lot. No matter how much you argue that lightning bolt sucks and shocks arn't important thats not true. If you've ever played semi-competitive arenas as a sham or intend to the hit is the way to go. Even though priests and hpallys can put out more pressure, to play a resto sham effectively you need to play offensively. In 2s (where most comps are healer/dps) what it comes down to is which healer ooms first. Lightning bolt and shocks cost a lot less mana than heals do and by playing offensively you force the other to heal more. Even if you don't cast shocks/lb that often and all thats on your mind is ZOMGZ HAS TO TOP HEALING CHARTZ, you will find yourself casting occassionally and when you do your attacks will have a chance of missing, resulting in a possible waste of mana. Also missed shocks lead to rogues restealthing which lead to more ambushes which lead to dead FC's. Finally, how often do you find yourself crutching on earthbind for some extra time to cast a heal or ghostwolf. In the end hit is important.

Lol don't be so mad Earl, I'm not embarresed by anything I or anyone else has said, I just find arguing pointless when the arguments degrade into such a childish form that you have to alter quotes
<

I know a very good shaman that uses the eyepatch and I know 2 very good shaman that uses the shield. I stand by the shield.

That's about it
<

Personally OP I would get with both Billow (ingame or on forums) or Atychiphobia (on forums)/Miindyy (in game or on forums)

And discuss with them why they each chose their given item since they are the afformentioned good shamans I spoke of
<

Good luck to you whichever piece of gear you choose!

Eyepatch # 1.

Don't argue a point if you don't intend on backing it up. Just because a good player does something, doesn't mean it's the best option, and certainly doesn't make a good arguement. If you thought it would make you ball like Magic Johnson, would you go contract HIV? I don't think so. Get out of that mindset and think for yourself like a good "leader" should. I repeatedly told you my reasoning for believing the eyepatch is BiS, showed you the numbers, and yet you and several others refuse to offer any sort of valid counter argument, all the while claiming shield is BiS cuz teh goodz use itz. The other thing you said was factually incorrect. And you didn't stop arguing because of "childish quote altering". The quote I altered was you making excuses to pull back from the conversation, ignore everything I said and stand by your own biased opinion.

Stop trying to turn everything into an argument
<

I never said the shield was difinitively best in slot, all I did was give my opinion.

I would take the shield based on my playstyle and what I want to get from the game
<

Also please try and read a bit better I never claimed the shield being best in slot "cuz teh goodz use itz." All I was doing was pointing out that I know good shamans that use both options meaning both are viable <3

Anyway if you want to keep argueing feel free to PM me I'd rather not poop up the thread anymore
<

@ OP it would seem the eyepatch is best in slot based off the numbers and what billow (#1 shaman univers) has said
<

Id still use shield <3 earl

Look at the big picture. If Eyepatch gives you the overall best stats, go for this. If the Shield might be better, take that.

I can definitely see both sides of the argument. If I was trying to decide on shield vs. eye patch I would ask my self this question. "Am I going to be playing more WSG or arena?" If I answer arena I would get the eye patch because in arena hitting is much more important, If I answer WSG I would get the shield because in WSG you're going to be getting bursted so much by 24's and other OP classes, you need more HP to do your job you're no use dead.

Don't forget the extra 300 armor on the shield
<

When it all pans out, it's a little less than a 200 armor difference.

Oh thanks, I just did a quick glance didn't acctually do a thourough check >.<

Even better, I assume most shamans don't arena that often, unless they are on AP. Therefore I assume most would want to grab the shield.

I guess people don't take the Gulch that seriously. I would still take the patch over the shield for battlegrounds. Even in WSG, I play hard and I play to win. Having the best gear is just a part of that. Sacrificing stats to make yourself less squishy doesn't coincide with the properplaystyle of a Rsham. They aren't the optimal turret healers, so they shouldn't be geared that way. If you want to tank 3 people while healbotting your entire team you should just play a holy paladin.
