BC heroic 5/6 gems status

Merlin

Grandfathered
the gems finally got patched .. the 5/6 STRENTH gems now has 2 sets of value

gems thats in my lvl27's bag shows that its 4/4 .. but those that appears on my gears and weapon shows that they are 2/2 .. i gem a hellscream BOA and sent the BOA to several characters, the following results are: below lvl40, the gems will be 2/2, lvl41 and higher, it will be 4/4 .. there are only 2 sets of value, 2/2 and 4/4 .. there are no 3/3

the INTEL 5/6 gems are now ALL 1/1 .. regardless of what lvl your character is .. even on a lvl60, its 1/1

above info based on gems thats already on my character, on my gears and unused gems in my bag .. i do not know whether it will be different from gems newly gotten from dungeon after the patch

In addition, the intel/stam 1/1 gems don't actually give stats (tested at 39 and below). If we replace those gems with others, our characters' stats will go up by the amount of the new gems. Likely a Blizzard oversight, but worth being aware of.

my gems are still 5/6 for some reason and still gives the correct stat value

TBC Gem Nerfs
The two targeted gems here were the popular Timewalking gems, Timeless Tanzanite and Sovereign Tanzanite. However, the gems weren't hit evenly. While both gems originally gave +5/+6 stats, now, Sovereign Tanzanite gives +4/+4 and Timeless Tanzanite gives... uh... +1/3 / +1/3. While the tooltip of the intellect gem says +1/+1, testing shows that you need 3 of the gems equipped to gain +1 intellect, likely a bug.

From wowhead, so guess it gives 0.3 int

I'm just never gonna log back on my warrior so his gems stay forever 5/6. Problem solved. Keep going down this route Blizzard and soon I won't have any toons to log on for and enjoy playing.

How does that solve anything? And how is this a problem?

I mean I had no problem playing my warrior as is, since I can't do BGs, heroics, and even raids. And to be honest, the problem wasn't just the gems but it started a long, long time ago. I had so much fun farming for BiS gear. I mean that is truly the definition of a twink, BiS. I never in my life exploited or bugged to have the best of the best when I started twinking my 70s in Cata(I gotta admit that was THE best time to twink). It would take so much time to truly be BiS with gear, enchants, and tinkers. And then Blizzard had to come and completely ruin that community with xp-on and xp-off. I lasted all the way from that point on my old 70 until now. I mean really, gems that I farmed for 2 months straight now gone.

Blizzard lately destroyed the Timewalking community for peeps that farmed for BiS timewalking gear with Mage Tower. It's crazy how communities would be created solely out of Blizzards creations without them intending to be, and how then Blizzard comes around the corner and ruins it.

I can only play end-game so much that I can't play it anymore and I start playing my low level guys to farm something I never got like mounts and transmog. I'm just saying I only kept my sub going because I enjoyed playing my warrior until now. A level 29 warrior with dungeon gear is better than my old 70 now. I stopped my sub today and I'm hoping my level 20 will be complete in 8 days. Blizzard wants to keep fucking around old content and old news, they're going to lose there subscribers!

I mean, something else is BiS now... just find it and farm it.
They know, they won't lose subs. 20+- people will unsub besause of this and 90% of them will come back... we always come back and they know it. Let's get real here.

i understand what you mean .. you should have play this character for at least a day before this patch went live .. i did .. https://youtube.com/shorts/YCva-6wqaMY?feature=share .. what is BIS.. THIS IS BIS!

As I was trying to figure out why some people are so up in arms about the gem nerf, the unspoken disconnect between these two quotes provided the answer.

We love to complain about how much time and effort it takes to get our gear; many of us secretly enjoy it. Props to @Andre for helping me come to terms with the fact that some part of me actually does enjoy the grind of farming. And when a piece of gear gets grandfathered? Sometimes we put it lovingly in a place in our vault, as a token of the hard work we did to obtain that piece of gear, and the memory of the time we spent on the battlefield. We can always look at grandfathered gear or even a grandfathered enchantment, and remember.

TBC heroic gems took a similar kind of work, never required of gems before or since: we had to run specific dungeons for a chance to get them. Nobody could give these gems to us. For Cata 70s, that meant the kind of collaboration that twinks of old like to think only existed "back in their day", and I say that as someone who got their first taste as a raid leader in Sunwell Plateau, trying to get people to understand Felmyst's mechanics, just so I could get my damn pants. To be fair, as easy as it was to jump into the Cata 70-74 bracket with Brutal Gladiator gear, getting BiS took a lot of work and collaboration.

But unlike old gear, we have nothing to show for nerfed gems. No indicator that they were ever special. Nothing in the gear that houses them that would imply they meant something other than the gems' unique icons and names that only crusty 70s would appreciate. I don't think we would mind if, like old enchantments, TBC heroic gems were simply something we chose and bought. But for some of us, TBC heroic gems represented our dedication to getting the smallest details right, the extra polish on our gear that showed we loved what we did, and showed our dedication in a way that no other bracket could.

I get why Blizzard nerfed the gems, and even though a number of people farmed those gems all the way up to last week (Shadowlands 39s may not get games, but they do still gear up), the TBC gem nerf always felt like an eventuality rather than a possibility. Whether through grandfathered SoO heirlooms at 20, or the various projects in the midbrackets, I'm glad others at least got to share in a piece of Cata 70-74 history.

What gem is better now? Its all the same now and my heroic/raid gear is no different from present day dungeon gear now. I only got back on for the anniversary event. Its just I solely played this game because of my 27 warrior and now it really is nothing special than just bragging rights.

Lol..I sometimes q with xp-off to join a BG just to drop Blingtron, Jeeves, Mailbox, and a Feast(even though I dont know why we cant click on it) and then /afk out for shiz. I almost stayed in the BG one time but meh. I got something to reflect on now.

I knew it was coming ever since prepatch of shadowlands when vendor gems got hit, it was inevitable. I mean this was the last remarkable feature my 27 warrior had that not many people had left. Now its nothing more than a piece of art just to look at. I moved on and made a level 20. My sub is ending soon and I cant wait to see you Alliance on the battlefield.

Blizz has really addressed the issue with twinks getting an advantage other levellers this gem change, the SL rep gear change, it is all pretty even now yet the BG queues are still separated.

the BC gems had the attention of max level players after the squish setting up for SL. even asmongold did a video on it.

the remaining unnerfed BC gems got attention with the upcoming legion TW mage tower event, all this was known by TW twinks for other TW events to create powerful str and int classes for the raids and rip thru dungeons. i think the main reason for the nerf was the TW mage tower. str and int classes could build a serious sets for the event, and agi classes were left out cold.

legion TW also brings back TW mythic dungeons, that would count towards gear/currency in the current expac. TW twinks build super gem sets, and the crusader enchant would have made that a unfair playing field.

crusader enchant, missed and not squished for 4 expacs, while others are 75%++ nerfed over van wow values. it got it nerfed due to the TW mage tower event. the enchant, gems, etc on other sites were bought to the attention the right blizzard dev or they read about info that has been out since TW started like... 10 years ago? TW twinks did cause the nerfs that generally aren't on this forum

Nubians are always gonna cry about BGs. Blizz have tried ilvl scaling, disabling enchants & gems, and even breaking down the level brackets so it wont get too overwhelming but all have failed leading back to seperation. I agree they should get rid of segregated BGs since everything is easily obtainable now. But that would mean we would be having fun and Blizzard wouldn't be able to compute with that.
