Are you scared to die?

I'd be afraid to die if I literally had time to think, "Wow, I'm going to die!"

I mean, yes, I'm afraid to die, because nobody knows that happens after death. Does your being cease to exist in some afterlife? Are you reborn, with no memory of your past life? Is there a heaven? Is one really dead, or are people still somewhat 'living', even if burried.

The reason to fear death is because, you never know if you will still be around to even think. And even if there was a separate life after death, you pretty much lost everything. If heaven exists or not, if you are some sort of spirit or whatever, you will never be able to do what you loved. To meet who you loved. To talk to your friends.

I like to think, if there is a heaven after death, then it is whatever you want it to be. It doesn't have to be gold and clouds. I think, if my theory is true about heaven, if you end up dying, you are put in your dream afterlife. Playing WoW? Live in WoW? Envision heaven as life? Who knows!

For all we know, our daily lives could have been created because somewhat died and envisioned their heaven.

EDIT: Note though, that I am not heavily religious, although still Christian. The afterlife is something that numerous theories can be placed upon. I mean, being an Astronomer, and all, I don't want anyone to get the picture that I'm an OVERLY religious freakazoid. ^_^ I just like to think that if there is a heaven, it is what we want it to be. Not some set place foretold in the Bible.

Im scared to die, but true torture to me will be infinite reincarnation arent we all just looking for an end?

I'm not afraid of what happens after I die, I'm just a little interested in it. The only thing I'm afraid of is the physical pain of death, because pain is something I've already established is scary and not just inexplicable, like the possibility of life after death (which I doubt is a possibility so all the more reason to not care about it).

Also the thread title made me think of that Arnold Schwarzenegger quote "what are you afraid of?"

Today i was talking to my friend chris, and he brought up something i never really thought of, he asked me if i was scared to die, I never answered because i didn't know how to answer, for some reason that question is still haunting me till now, are you guys scared to die?

Ask Kale

nice triple post there eh

Too scared to edit, obviously.

you should be as afraid of death as you are of bears. you're not afraid of bears until you're in the same room as one, right?

for me, if i'm ever able to come to terms with death and become comfortable with it (like if i get some nasty lung cancer) my plan is to make my way to the roof of the hospital and leap. falling is the way to go. such a great feeling.

>_< Please don't jump off hospitals. Best case you die but traumatize a lot of people. Worst case you traumatize a lot of people and they also manage to put you back together again. One of the most awful cases I've seen was a failed suicide.

Scared to die? Maybe if there was some kind of impending doom, like the seatbelt being broken in my car and locking me in while a train is barreling down the railroad tracks at me (reaching, but I needed an example)!

Otherwise, why be afraid of something that's unavoidable in the first place?

Just take some Bath salts, much easier way to traumatize someone. Honestly the best deaths i can think of involve heroic rescues and tons of adrenaline.

damn, that's a bigger fear of mine than dying: not dying, but being left mutilated and in a puddle of my own shameful piss. that's the worst of the 3 types of attempted suicide.

but it doesn't matter if you traumatize people. it'll do them good to see a jagged mess of flesh and bones. everyone needs a good excuse for their underlying problems and vices

and idr who said it, but doing something heroic would be a great way to die. that's one of the common reoccurring dreams, and it feels great
