Aerie Peak 3v3 Arena Tournament With TCG Prizes

finals for me too, but thats when kahr says it should be

Yeah, well I think I will have to regredably sit this one out. School > f2p tourney =P
Hopefully there will be a free for all tourney in the future that I will be able to attend.

Good luck to all the participants! Have fun.

@ Medan: You're right. It was just a suggestion, thinking out loud, for a solution to get a new way to get the points rolling.

Rhae brings up a great point imo. However, the problem I see with this is that this tournament brings prizes, hence competition. Who doesn't want to have the best shot at winning a real life $$ tabard? I think the best place for your idea to work would be in a different tournament altogether, set to 0 prizes, and merely played for the love of arenaing and a chance to start for the newer players.

EDIT: Sorry I tried to trim Rhae's post up so people could read who missed it, but it was just looking like a wall of text. Besides, I think most people probably didnt miss it.

In response to some of the issues Rhae brought up...

This is a tournament; the name itself is off-putting for newer arena players. People are generally competitive... I agree with wanting to get more people involved in arenas and I think this is the way to do it because it draws a lot of attention to them. If they are recorded, I think that will draw even more players out.
That being said, I wouldn't enter any event that I'm newer at expecting to win, especially when there are veterans. Maybe there's some way we could reward all the participants? That would encourage people to sign up, regardless of their experience.

I think the main focus is just getting teams together right now and seeing where to go from there. I seriously hope there are a lot of teams with varying levels of skill and class combinations!

I love that you linked the social anxiety wikipedia page. Is your warrior's name a reference to the flaming lips?

@ the rules
I really think the first map should be random, not definitely nagrand. Just my two cents

@ Veintebad
I agree with the team name change

That actually made me laugh, clever
i'd also like discussion about the point system to stop, dont need another 4 pages of debate, dont worry about it for now. If anything discuss Rhaellias post and how to best handle the new players vs the all stars situation

Only 1 way for that to happen, 2 brackets that dont face each other. Each having a price.

- You might think "Well then hardcore players can play in the casual turnament and get a bigger chance of winning the price"
But honestly, we all know each other and, although I dont think our team can win, I still want to play in the hardcore group.
If theres actually a problem with really experienced players dropping down in the casual bracket, just deny them. Its your turnament.

Dont need more prices, Im not playing wow any more and my rogue is gonna get so fucked in MOP that a tabard or pet wont be justified on him. Just have some cheep stuff and perhaps some nice stuff for the rank 1 team.

Dont need to happen exactly like this, but now the idea of it is out there for discussion.
-Might be to few teams though

Sorry for double post, but wanted to make sure this gets through the wall of text -

Is there any way we could reward all of the participants? That would really encourage anyone and everyone to sign up. Obviously not expecting tabards for every team; can people think of alternative rewards for 2nd-Nth places?
Isn't having fun a reward on its own?

Um in the other thread I was like LOLNO. But if you have the courage to put it out there like that I guess I can't say no. :)
I'll agree to be a free squish, but the trouble I see here is Wednesday 8th. I'm at university and in the EU, that might be completely impossible for me to attend. :/ I hope Swag and Kahr will consider a weekend.
Secondary trouble is some construction work severed our phone cables, but that will likely be repaired by then, they even said 'possibly by this evening'. No idea. Can't play WoW on my Phone or on my university wifi.

hmm

Prot war doing a double carry?
Veinte just leave me alone or I'll burn down your house.

Fear my wall of text, FEAR IT!

It's not about the prizes for me and I understand prizes will change the competitive nature of the competition but I fear it might deter others. I just want it to be a positive friendly tournament for a variety of players and I believe this is what this was meant to be. I was simply pointing out an error with the idea of it being balanced and fair in the regard of non-experienced players competing against experienced players.

You could have consolation prizes given to a certain team/teams or players you thought were highly spirited or showed some other trait? ^^; And I agree fun is it's own reward, however, playing a game against a really good team is not fun for someone who is confused and lost in the arena.

Not everyone apparently knows what it is so I figured I should link it x) And yes, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

"Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me
but you won't let those robots eat me
Yoshimi, they don't believe me
but you won't let those robots defeat me"

You pour the gas, I'll light the match ;D

More wall of text, sorry guys xP

What is a solid time to set the deadline at? Trying to accomodate EU players.
10 PM Aerie Peak server time = 19.00 +1 GMT. Could move it to 11 PM - 20.00 or even an hour later or so. Do remember tho, there will be preparations needed before so atleast take 30 mins in advance to start prepping the teams.

10 PM AP server time is midnight here, and a night before school. And thats just to START to the tournament...that seems a bit ridiculous.
